Do not sell your items here or you will get ripped off. There was a lady who talked to me and was very nice and straight forward. No complaint there. I honestly wouldn't even be writing a review if my interaction was just that. But then a guy came. I had an unminted coin in a plastic protective case. I told him to be careful with it. Instead of being careful, he grabs it and throws it into the other bag of coins. Then, he offered to sell me silver at 24 dollars per oz (mind you, I had a large order worth hundreds). Today it's at over 58 dollars per oz. That is less than 50% of market value! For those of you who don't know, you should be selling silver at least at 90% of market value. I simply asked him what percent of market value he's selling at. He got incredibly rude and upset because he knew he was trying to sell to me at a horrible price. In conclusion, do your research, and don't go here. I don't understand how this place has a 4.6 star rating with such horrible prices. Didn't work out for me. I brought in about 13 pounds of 90% silver coins and they made me an unserious offer of 55% below spot price. Make of that what you will. Friendly people, just they're evidently not serious about buying precious metals. I asked for a quote over the phone, but they wouldn't give me one - I see it's obvious why not. I wouldn't have even wasted my time driving over there if I would have known they're not really interested in buying. Update: The next day I went to a competitor coin buyer/seller and received an offer of double what South Bay Coin offered. So it's definitely on them that they're not serious about buying. The only other possibility I can think of is that they're being dishonest - I really hope that's not the case. read more

Drove 50 mins to get to this place after calling in and trying to get a quote over the phone. The woman who helped was very nice and told me that I needed to come in. I explained to her the items I had and she suggested that I come in to get a quote because they didn't do quotes over the phone. I called 3 times to make sure. When I arrived gentleman who helped me couldn't quote because his machine can't verify 24K. Only goes up to 22K. How does one buy gold with out having any tools to determine the purity?
