Checked this spot out for the first time and found it super convenient since there aren't many restaurants like this around the area. The place was brightly lit and spacious. We ordered a choy, Beef Chow Fun, and Eel Clay Pot Rice. The choy was delicious and crispy, and the stir fried noodles were delicious as well. The eel clay rice could be a little more flavorful but still got the job done. They also gave complimentary fruit, peanuts, and pickled radish which was really nice. read more

Been here a good 5-6x... the experience always left me asking "why do I come back?". Their congee is solid... flavor is decent. Their cold cuts... left much to be desired... roast pig - salty. Roast pork - dry AF. The roast pork ribs... what is going on with their recipe? If they can't conquer the roast meats... then what chance do they have with kitchen orders? As for the cook food... truly, just ok... I think this spot survives through their loyal customers... but definitely fails to get new customers. Most of the time, when I grab food... the crowd of retiree's with their brown liquor (cognac for sure) are catching up... absolutely no one under the age of 50s are dining in. Ordered some basic noodle & rice box... it was blah... not the best but not the worse. Ordering is dysfunctional... only one person helping and she takes the cold cut orders while packing them and then you wait your turn to order food from the kitchen. So... why do I return? Bc I don't want this neighborhood to fail post pandemic... and small businesses are still struggling... not sure if this restaurant will survive in the long term. Solid place for Cantonese food. Had their beef chow fun, the roast duck and the salt and pepper pork chop for take out and everything was delicious. The duck was not too fat and salty unlike some other places in Bensonhurst I've had from before. My favorite dish was the salt and pepper pork chop, very crispy and flavorful. Ugh this place is not good. Came here recently cause it's closed to home and fu kee closed down. I ordered two congee and two fried curlers. They were all bad, the congee lacked flavor, the beef in one of them was oddly chunky and had 0 flavor and was not soft. The other called "tang jai jook" had all sorts of weird ingredients including soggy fried curler and fish filet that tasted old. The fried curlers were greasy and not made fresh, was a bit chewy and hard to bite off. Overall would not come back for their congee. Prob the worse I had, worse than bakery ones...and not to say they were overpriced at $8 each, fried curlers $2 each. read more

Litter as an everyday way of life, yea, I'm kicking it off with my utter disappointment of us people and our unnatural attraction to depositing trash wherever we can, never pocketing not holding until a proper recepticle is had. It's irresponsible and shameful and it's rampant. What must people from other states think? And they'd be right, this area is breaking filth records and I don't understand it nor do I want to. With seventy five thousand menu items, how were my first two choices not available? It wasn't Pheasant Under Glass I can assure y'all it was some form of noodles, so strike a big red X, with a big thick red marker over the entire section apparently. Not wanting to go 0 for 3, I picked the most plain item I could find as others ordered with no such dilemmas as I experienced. Rice and freakin vegetables, exactly what I did not want but food options in this pseudo Chinatown were slim pickings at best and frankly, they just didn't look clean to me, me, the food truck lover and I used to eat everywhere questionable and in a pinch, we had station sandwiches, and stay away from the egg salad if possible. I knew that I should have just left but the brilliant piece of lumber upon my shoulders thought otherwise, guess the tummy overruled or they were in cahoots together. So I got quarters for the meter and tipped a dollar so they wouldn't play floor hockey with my vegetables because apparently it was a "fifteen minute wait". I think this place is one of the better restaurants down this road of China-street. For the longest time, Howong has cornered the market of Cantonese cuisine and people who were willing to shell out extra clams just to get their hungry mouths on some authentic food, but lookout, here comes a contender that can knock Howong's butt! This place easily beats all the Chinese restaurants around here in terms of quality and price. They have a variety of items that can satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. They have classics that bring back memories with a single bite. They have the guts to open up shop near Howong, and to that end, I am glad they are still standing after this pandemic ordeal! read more

When I entered, there was a person buying food who was speaking to the server and the Cantonese BBQ cook. I could hear they use dialectal Cantonese instead of regular Cantonese. I ordered the Mixed of Beef, Pork, Fish Cake Congee-aka Sampam congee-and Pork Ball, Pork Stomach & Liver Congee-aka Valedictoran congee. While waiting, another person in the dining area left with a takeout. Another person entered to order some food and another came to pick up some takeout. The inside was clean but lacked music or TV. The Mixed congee had various seafood and meats while the offal congee had mixed pork products. The sampan congee was called because the Tanka boat people traditionally lived in boats making their living as fisherpeople at Lychee Bay in Guangzhou. They would make congee from the boats. The Valedictorian congee was called because a poor scholar sold vegetables to a person who offered the scholar congee in exchange, where the congee can vary in ingredients. After the scholar became a Valedictorian, he thanked the one who served him congee by saying that he succeed with the congee. The name is just a gimmick to encourage test takers to do well similar to how Katsu pork cutlet have the same gimmick. read more

The majority of tables at this spot accommodated bigger parties of 10 or more. The server let us know ahead of time that any stir fry orders would take longer since there was a queue. I'm giving them another star as i came back and tried their wonton soup and it was pretty good. Wontons were huge. Their lunch special: bitter melon over rice was nicely done too. Just remember to tell them: little oil, little salt, little sauce. Their BBQ meats are still poorly made and the guy that chop them needs to be send to a cutting/chopping workshop. The newest Cantonese restaurant to join this stretch of Chinatown on Bay Parkway. Like nearby restaurants, they serve Cantonese-style roasted meats, stir fries, noodles and rice. Their casual dine-in space is deep and spacious, bright and clean. The roasted meats glisten at the window, plentiful, with duck, a few types of chicken, pork, char siu, and chicken wings. The meats are generally well made and hold their own against nearby competitors. Rice rolls are generally smooth-skinned and very generously filled, from the meaty shrimp, overstuffed preserved egg and lettuce, and thick beef. The dried shrimp ones are especially flavorful and a highlight. Congee have a thicker consistency with good flavor and aroma. The youtiao was fantastic, crispy and airy. Wonton noodles are very good, both the tooth some noodles and good, thin skin wontons and dumplings. They make decent rice casseroles (although King's still does better). Stir fried beef ho fun is not good at all, dry and lifeless. Quality of dishes at one dinner varied, with some dishes good (Peking pork chops, mushrooms and eggs), some good enough (lobster yee noodles, whole roasted baby pig, beef and asparagus) but a few too many mediocre or not well made, with a crispy skin garlic chicken being the worst, dry and overdone. There are restaurant veterans in the staff and they have kept early service mostly self-assured, although as with most new restaurants, there are still occasional hiccups (e.g., a wrong order slipped into a take out order). Although not breaking ground in terms of offering something very different in the area, there's some good things to like. I'll be back for rice rolls and wonton/dumpling noodles for sure. read more

My mom ordered take-out from here twice and both times they messed up our orders so make sure to check your bags before you leave. The first time they left out a dish of fish and tofu so she had to go back to get it. This second time on Saturday, they gave us beef congee instead of fish congee and fish costs $1.25 more. Before covid, I usually come here to get chopped meats. Pretty tasty and generous. Spend $20 and get a box of duck feet which my parents enjoy. I've been craving duck during covid and I got this for $8. Took a while for this to be ready but it was fresh and tasty. Believe it's made to order these days. Though the small restraunt doesnt look much on the outside. The food is high quality, the roast pork tastes perfect in my opinion, with right amount of fat and sauce. The rice casserole tastes fresh from the kitchen and the wonton noodle soup tastes so warm and reminds me of mother's cooking. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want to try out Cantonese food. read more

This place is horrible. We ordered roast meat with a few other things. The meat was missing the skin and the person preparing it had horrible attitude. They joined the competition on this stretch of Bay Parkway where there already exist several roast meat places. They cant expect to thrive with horrible quality and attitude! read more
