Ordered the general Tso's with vegetable fried rice and an egg roll. The flavor was meh, the texture was meh. Very unimpressed, will not return ever. The counter person was fine and the food was ready in about 15 minutes despite them being very busy surprisingly. read more

Golden chopstick is an amazing Chinese restaurant. From the portions, to the flavors, to the variety, honestly this restaurant is really one of the best Chinese food restaurants I've eaten from in my entire life. It's to a point that I order so much that they know my name before I even say what I ordered on Uber eats for pick up. I could not recommend them more. read more

I've tried a few items on the menu. For an affordable lunch in Crown Heights, I haven't found a spot that comes close to the appeal of Golden Chopstick's generous lunch special with big portions and soup included. The quick service is quite reliable, though I'd recommend checking you got all your items if ordering takeout. The food is average-to-good, never worse than that. The best item I've had, which I've ordered again and again, is the boneless rib tips. read more

Food was really good no complaints. The panamanian house special lo mein was a lot and tasty. I am Panamaian and we don't get this at every Chinese restaurant. The dumplings was tasty also the wings crispy kinda small but not oily. Only downfall was that I spent $28 before delivery charge. So a free soda or iced tea would've been nice. Thats why I took off 1 star kinda cheap ppl.. But I will order again. read more

The quality of the food has gone down and the prices have gone up. I recently purchased 15 jumbo fried shrimp (Three orders) for $25 plus. In the order I received what can be described as baseball sized butterfly "so called) shrimp. I sampled one, 80 percent was horrible breading. Ths actual shrimp was the size of a half dollar coin. I was a regular customer and I do mean "was", I'll try another restaurant. Buyer beware. read more

*COVID takeout* I stopped by after two long train rides to pick up a Veggie Delight&Fried Rice combo plate with a bottle of sparkling water. Golden Chopstick has a plastic and metal partition between the register/kitchen and the customer area. All the tables are stacked, so it's delivery and takeout only, but you can order there at the register. On the plus side, the Veggie Delight (mixed vegetables in brown sauce) was--as other reviewers have mentioned--extremely savory without being too oily. The variety of vegetables was nice: snow peas, carrots, mushrooms, baby corn, soft tofu, water chestnuts, celery, and broccoli. I only wish the ratio of vegetables to fried rice could have been more equal. There was much more rice. The fried rice was on the blander and oilier side, so maybe I should have gone all the way and ordered noodles. I'll try that next time! Service was kind and thorough. I especially appreciated that they asked what sauces I wanted (just mustard please!), rather than giving packets of duck and soy sauce that are going to sit in my fridge for the next 100 years. read more

You may have previously read my J's Wong review, where I deemed it the best take-out Chinese food spot in town. Well, the honorable Wong still wears that crown, but it now shares it with Golden Chopstick. Every dish here is an exquisite combination of flavor and grease. I especially recommend the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and the Pananian style fried rice. I wasn't sure what Pananian style meant when I ordered it, but I took the risk, and boy golly am I glad I did. They've got something for everyone here, and truthfully, spots like these are among my favorites in Crown Heights. Unpretentious, unassuming, and unreal delicious. What's not to love? read more

Is this place a 5 star restaurant? Probably not. But they have 1 5 star dish I would like to tell you about. This review is for that dish. It's not always on the menu, but if you ask them, they make it: Crispy Chicken with Garlic Sauce. Why is it so good? Because when I order American style Chinese food, I want something to be brown, salty, fatty and rich. And that's what this is. Maybe you are the type of person who orders like, sweet and sour chicken or szechuan beef. That's on you. But if you just need the comfort, order CCWGS and substitute the rice with lo mein. read more

I've tried this place twice and both times it was horrible. Dumplings were burnt, tasted a bit like asphalt with the same sensation when chewing. The Egg roll was like the cardboard they throw down on the bodega floor when it rains except less crunchy. Sesame chicken like moldy bread dragged through 2 day old KFC grease. I have no idea why anyone would give this place a good review. read more

Most of the Chinese takeout places in this part of Brooklyn look the same: a large window facing the street, greenish neon light in the inside, a couple of formica tables. The same identical pictures of typical Chinese food dishes on light boxes that you see everywhere. A bulletproof screen and a metal door that separate the "dining" area from the kitchen. Even the menus look the same. Most of the times the food is mediocre, with some noticeable exception in one way[1] or another. Golden Chopstick is an exception in the worst possible way. I like Chinese food and I eat Chinese takeout regularly. I don't know this neighborhood that well, and what attracted me to this place was the cute name. Moreover, on the menu I read they have "Pananian" dishes. I have no clue what Pananian mean[2], but having something unusual on the menu usually scores points for me. I decide to play it safe and I get an orange chicken ($5 for a "small" plate). It was just inedible: the chicken was tough and chewy, without any discernible taste, if not a lingering foul aftertaste that bothered me the rest of the night. I hate wasting food, but this abomination went straight from my plate to the trash can. AVOID AVOID AVOID! Love the brown rice option as many Chinese restaurants don't offer options other than fries, lo mein and white rice . Food was ok and like most traditional Chinese restaurants meal. Satisfying and fills your belly. Delivery was quick; Maybe 5-10 mins after ordering however the delivery guy was kinda rude. Took me some time to get to him he called the second time to rush me . This is the best quality takeout Chinese I've had in the city. I ordered online during the snowstorm, and they called me right away to tell me they would be a bit late (automatic cool points), but they weren't even late. I got the General Tso's chicken platter and scallops. Everything came hot and fresh, but the true test would be taste. They passed with flying colors. The food is delicious; not too greasy, not too saucy. The chicken is crispy but not rock hard, and there's more than 2 pieces of broccoli! Just delicious. I will definitely order from here again. P.S. The delivery guy is so nice! read more

Solid delivery here! I always order from here when I'm in the mood for Chinese food. Their food is always fresh and doesn't leave you with the heavy sinking feeling after indulging. Their delivery service is timely and the food always comes hot. I've had the shrimp and broccoli, the sesame chicken along with the pork fried rice. The rice has a yellow tint without over frying. The rice is always fluffy and flavorful. Always a hit on lazy non cooking nights. read more

I've eaten a fish sandwich here once before but, because I took it way uptown with me, and doctored it up before I ate it, I didn't have this issue. But on this visit, the fish seemed fried a bit too hard and the bread was stale and falling apart. It wouldn't even hold up when trying to make a sandwich. AND they gave me an end of a loaf. I've never seen this done before; usually restaurants throw it out. But maybe not and Chinese food spots? read more

I notice a pattern with the delivery people. When I put the tip in with the order before it gets delivered the delivery person shows up disrespectful. Going forward, when I order food via Grubhub or any of the food apps tips will not be given with the order. It will be given at the door when they bring it to me. If I detect any attitude the will leave without a tip. Period. I also don't like hair in my food. read more

First a clarification about the rating... For all of New York, this is a 3 star location. But for east Crown Heights, it's a 4 due to the fact that the order was fast, they delivered to the door, and the food was warm upon arrive. Didn't mess the order up either, and it's on Seamless. They have a panamanian section on the menu, which was strange but interesting. And as far as it could be determined, panamanian lo mein is just like normal lo mein but with a fried egg on top. I did not know this was a thing in Panama, but sure, why not. The lo mein itself was of the kind of dry variety, which isn't a favorite of mine, but I know people like. The egg foo young had its typical brown gravy, but it was pretty pretty pretty pretty good. Played well with the brown rice. The General Tso sauce was way too sweet. And the black sauce with the string beans was decent. There are plenty more Chinese places in east Crown Heights, and a lot of them suck. But until a really good one shows itself, this is a decent fall back. read more

It's amazing how one intersection changes everything. I was looking for some quick Chinese food I can have before a summer class I was taking at Medgar Evers College. I found one place that had the bulletproof counter and no tables or seats so I ventured down Franklin Ave across Eastern Parkway. It turned into a totally different area, I was able to sit down and study while I waited for my chicken wings and fried rice. Food is great. A little pricey for regular Chinese take out, but the taste is worth it. I gave three stars because I ordered for delivery through Seamless. I gave more than 15% for the tip, so I expected door to door service. Not only did I have to come downstairs for my order, but I had to come outside with my three kids to get the food. As he's handing me my food, the delivery guy lights a cigarette and blows smoke in our faces. I am LIVID, and called to complain. First whoever picked up the phone tried to say I had the wrong number, but I repeated the address and she said she would talk to him. She claims he was scared to come upstairs because of the building. I'll never order for delivery from here again. If I wanted to come out to get my food, I would have gone to the store myself. read more

It was very good here.

My assumption is they probably charged me extra for pork fried rice, which I didn't ask him for. I know for a fact they are not charging tax because there's no way that you're forcing people to pay in cash while also charging them for taxes that you don't pay. The crab Rangoon was actually pretty decent even though I didn't have the sauce that comes with it. The honey wings were OK. They actually taste more like honey BBQ. I prefer C&Y honey wings. It's real honey and stay hot for an hour due to the way honey maintains heat. I also don't appreciate when these spots chop up a wing and call it two wings. 1 wing is the entire thing. STINGY. The spare rib tips I don't like and neither do I like their pork fried rice. The rice is a bit bland and I don't like those large spare rib tips. I prefer the boneless spare rib tips that C&Y has. A shrimp roll is a shrimp roll is a shrimp roll. It wasn't too bad and it was actually pretty happy. The shrimp was a little bit larger than those baby shrimp that they normally stuff in shrimp rolls. Their pricing is on par with C&Y yet I don't have no issues paying what they ask and their food is good aside from their lo mein. They are not stingy and have pretty decent customer service unlike the guy who took my order here who paused my order to take another order over the phone and tend to the person behind me. The Yelp waitlist is useless here - wait was supposed to be 5-10 minutes and it turned into almost 40. All this could have been avoided with more planning, better organization, and training.
