When I moved to the Wheeling area I was very eager to find a good Chinese restaurant. Everyone recommended Golden Chopsticks. I have been there 3 times and had take out once. I have only ever been disappointed with the takeout (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). The General Tso's chicken, lo mein, and mongolian beef are all very tasty, but my favorite dish is the Thai Sweet Chili Chicken which they generally have as a special on the weekends but isn't on the menu. The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. If you have room at the end of the meal, try a piece of the deep fried cheesecake. You won't be disappointed. My problem with the takeout is that they charge you the same price as if you were eating in the restaurant, but you get significantly less food. It feels like a bit of a rip off after eating in the restaurant and becoming accustomed to their large portions. The owner is very friendly. I went to this S**t hole after reading the reviews on here. The place smells like cigarettes. Just because this is the only thing going in Wheeling doesn't mean it's the "BEST" thing out there. Sorry but I am NEVER going back to a place where you cant tell the difference between pork, chicken or beef I am sorry but based on the service we had last night I think this place is two thumbs down. I went here for dinner with my fiance a few weeks back. We're from Pennsylvania so we dont go there often plus on top of that we are both in the oil field and work crazy hours. When I left and got home I realized I had left my two black sweaters in there and called immediately. It took a little bit but the lady I was speaking to located them. I had explained to her how I was going out of town for work and it would be a couple weeks to a month before I could get there to retrieve them back. Well, low and behold I call in the day I'm going to pick them up and they're no longer there. It's sad because it's wonderful food. The owner doesn't seem to nice but the waiters had always been great. I will no longer be going to this establishment for the simple fact of she reassured me they would be there and they aren't. Oldie but goodie on the island. The spring rolls were hot and fresh and I love the convenience of sweet/sour and hot mustard sauce on the table. My General Chicken was Ridiculously good and complimented perfectly by the fried rice. and the crab Rangoon was amazing also. My only complaint would have to be the egg rolls were somewhat greasy and lukewarm. read more

Great customer service, great food. I couldn't find a menu online so i called to ask where i could find one. Apparently they have one on their Facebook page but i didn't have to hang up and call back because he gave me some recommendations that sounded great! They have a 20$ minimum order for deliveries. I was told my order would arrive in an hour, 30 min later there was a knock at my door. Love when that happens. I ordered chicken fried rice and garlic chicken. This was plenty to feed two people. The chicken in both meals was great! White meat with no trace of chewy fat! The veggies and sauce were really good in the garlic chicken. They included two plates, two sets of silverware, four fortune cookies, soy sauce, sweet and sour, other stuff, and extra rice. Go for it read more

I have been a vegetarian for 40 years. I live in Wheeling West Virginia and I also live in Los Angeles California. I can tell you that their meals are tasty and a huge portion is served to you. We have been trying their vegetarian entrées, my friends and I for many years. I can tell you from living in Los Angeles and eating tasty meals that this is a tasty meal. A definite yes!!! We went here as part of my daughter's birthday weekend celebration. It was a struggle getting over to the island from Wheeling because of construction. Being happy to finally find this 'gem", we were unaware as to what was before us. Our waiter turned our celebration into a nightmare. As a starter, my daughter and I ordered the sizzling shrimp rice soup for two. It really befuddled us. It came with no sizzle, no rice and in a tomato broth. It tasted like a store brand canned tomato soup. No where on the menu did it warn that this was an old recipe containing tomato broth. As soon as we told the waiter it was not what we expected-that there was no sizzle, no rice and the broth was not clear, he informed us he was "only a waiter" and could do nothing about it. Right away I could see that he was not about to offer to take it away and get us something else we might enjoy. (This very tall man with dark hair was not Asian. I say that so diners will know who I dealt with). He told me only the manager could do anything about this. So I said, "Then get the manager!" Eventually, an Asian woman-who didn't introduce herself-listened to my daughter that told her all that we didn't get in this soup. The Asian woman (manager?) told us there is another soup on the menu that has clear broth and that might be what we wanted. But what we chose is a soup long on the menu that older customers from the former owner insisted be served. How could we possibly even know this! We aren't from the area. Eventually, we were allowed to order something different but the waiter kept telling me he worked there for 35 years, etc. That did nothing for me. I felt he had no use for women, or respect for the customer's needs. Eventually, the owner(I presume -he did not introduce himself) came by and insisted he would charge us nothing for the 2nd order of soups we ate. My daughter said, no I want to pay. He wouldn't hear of it. But she did leave $10 tip for the waiter. My daughter worked for many years as a waitress in fine dining. It would be difficult for her not to leave him something. She should have left it for the kitchen IMO, not the waiter. No male wait staff has EVER been rude to me as he was in his banter with me. I was shaken by it. By the way, the original soup we ordered was on the menu as Shrimp Sizzling Rice soup for 2. DON'T ever order that! We had wonton soup. The wontons had almost no filling. We left without ordering an entree, perhaps the rest of the menu is ok? What happened to the customer is always right 'Mr no name' waiter? I am 77 years old- what happened to respect for your elders, as well!?!?! read more

My parents started taking me to Golden Chopsticks when it first opened. I was very young, but I remember Martin always made me a Shirley Temple while we waited for a table. I moved to Florida almost 5 years ago, and the taste and quality of Chinese food down here doesn't come close to Golden Chopsticks! Every time I go back to Wheeling to visit family, eating there (at least one time) is a MUST- I usually stop on my way back from the Pittsburgh airport. read more

We ordered takeout from here on Mother's Day, May 14, 2017 and one of the orders was wonton soup. NOT ONE wonton in the soup had meat in them! They were squished wonton wrappers only. They put a slab of pork in the soup, just a floating slab of pork. I will never order from here again. Extremely disappointed. read more

For the second year in a row, we had dinner here on Christmas Day, as we passed through Wheeling. This time, my wife and I split two of the daily specials (a chili chicken dish and a chicken & green beans dish). Both were nicely prepared, though the sauce on the chili dish was a little sweet. Our son had two apps, steamed dumplings and chicken wings. The dumplings were very nice and the wings were not hot but had a bit of Chinese five spice flavor to them. All portions were very generous. I cannot understand how this restaurant gets such good reviews. I ate there twice and got delivery the third time. The food is bland, eventhose dishes that are supposed to be spicy. I really don't want to have the owner bring pepper oil to the table for me to put on my kung pao chicken. I've had good Chinese food before. I read some of the reviews on here, and my boyfriend and I thought we'd try it out. BAD IDEA. The fried rice is just white rice with soy sauce. I can do that myself at home. The egg rolls were soaked in grease, and I couldn't even finish my meal because I started to feel sick. I thought general tso's chicken was pretty standard, but eating here made me sick. And the won tons were so hard they cut the roof of my mouth. Also, the guy in the phone got my order wrong and what normally costs us like $25 came out to $44 because they gave us an extra meal! And I verified what I ordered with the guy 3 times over the phone very loudly, and it was still wrong! Will not be going back! read more

If I could do less than one star I would. My wife and I just called to place delivery, the guy who answered the phone asked us for our address then took my credit card number and before we even ordered told us we should order from other Chinese restaurants that are closer .we explained that they don't deliver he let out a huge sigh and my wife said ok then we will get something else. Everything I've ever gotten here was delicious. I usually order the tofu with eggplant (especially when they have the oriental eggplant available) and it's so good! I have eaten here at least 100 times and the food is consistently delicious, served hot and tasty. The hot and sour soup is so good my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Okay, I'm not a Chinese food fan. Some friends of mine who have been here before raved on this place and on a recent visit, took me and my husband to lunch there. I ordered the Hong Kong steak and the brussel sprout appetizer. My husband had the seafood udon. He was very pleased. My food was very good as well. Remember, I'm not a fan, but I can say it was definitely a far cry from the average chinese take out. The brussell sprouts were alright. I wasn't crazy about the sauce but it wasn't bad. Service was great! The waitress remembered my friend and that she had ordered one of the same items on her last visit there! I once was a Huge fan, but sadly not anymore. I believe there is two Jimmy's working there. The American Jimmy is Great Service and always helps us out. The Chinese Bar Tender is the only reason we don't come back. He was so rude tome and my family that I will never come back. The Service there was great, now once Jimmy the Manger (who is the only one we like) seats you with great service, the wait staff takes over which is a joke anymore. Basically if you go there try toavoid the Chinese Bar Tender, if anyone helps you look for Jimmy the American Manager. He is Great read more

Really good for wheeling, is a little pricey for the area but you do get good food. I don't eat Brussels but we they'd the fried with ginger sauce and wow. I have been all over the world and ate in some real sh** holes and this is not one of them. When I am havering a bad day I go here. read more

I usually go to China Wok (best Chinese in the area hands down) in Elm Grove but wanted to get takeout closer to my house so I ordered from here. I have to say I am not a big fan of this place. I ordered takeout and whoever took my order over the phone was very rude and was even ruder when I called back a second later to change something on my order. Upon arriving home my food was lukewarm at best. I ordered sesame chicken and was not impressed. It was very thin, chewy strips of chicken instead of pieces of chicken. The batter was really crunchy instead of soft and fluffy and had a burnt taste to it. The lo mein had practically no flavor. It wasn't terrible Chinese food but I wouldn't eat here again or recommend it to anyone. read more

Took my Mom here for her birthday dinner. Not impressed. The whole set up is weird. Needs to be redesigned, redecorated, and deep cleaned. ahh, a good chinese place on a roadtrip from the midwest to east coast is like a beacon of light. my boyfriend called ahead to place a take-out order which was promptly ready 15 minutes later. i ordered the ma pa tofu with relatively little spice, and it came with meat (pork) apparently as well as tofu. though oily and had a severe lack of vegetables, my dish was tasty. read more
