Christmas Morning, 2024, around 12:45 PM, we were on our way back to Brownsville from Harlingen, not much was open as far as restaurants, so remembering on our way to Harlingen that day, we noticed that this place was open, so we thought, it Christmas Day, few establishments are open and we're hungry, so we pulled in and walked to the door, there were only a few people in front of us, but noticed the self service drink area was a mess and a turnoff, unorganized, only 1 ice dispenser was working, which took longer to get our teas, which should have only taken seconds, we make it the cashier, she only says "$48.76", very impolite & impersonal, not very welcoming. My first though was WOW! I though this was kind of pricey for a self service buffet, even if it is all you can eat. But, we were there and were hungry. I pulled out my debt card and she indicated, "its cash only today, the machine is not working". There were no signs on the door or at the cashier indicating as such. we didn't have enough cash to pay, I commented you should tell people at the door about this, she said nothing like sorry or anything, we left our teas at the cashier and walked out. My though is this, as a previous restaurant owner, these credit card readers rarely go down, if they do, the process is simple to reset them, they have 24 hour help lines to assist you, so that was total BS. I leave it up to you as to speculate why it was only cash on a day they were less than a handful of places to eat. NO Brainer! BAD EXPERIENCE. Never got to see or try the food so I can't comment on that, but I assure we will never try again... We ended up at Taco Palenque, we had good food, excellent service at more than half the price. read more

This was absolutely one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The food presentation was horrible. Almost every single item on the buffet looked like it had been sitting out for hours. There was even mold on/in the slushie machine. The ONLY redeeming factor was the customer service. Everyone we spoke to was super friendly and our server was very attentive. But as far as the food it was absolutely disgusting. My girlfriend and I both got extremely sick before we could even make it home, we had to pull over. I would've given this place 0 stars if yelp would let me. Absolutely do not take your family to eat here!! read more

The food options were all running out. Food left was dry and old looking. The displays were dirty and messy. It was extremely crowded and the wait staff seemed less than motivated to clear tables to make space. Will not go back. read more

Only in Brownsville Texas where I had Menudo soup and smoked sirloin combo, a true TexMex experience. :)) Food is always good and fresh here, but you should avoid dinner hours because they are always have a waiting line. read more

This place was HOT today! Always a good choice when you can't make up your mind in what you feel like eating! However, today this place was packed with people. That with the combination of a faulty air conditioner... I was eating with a bit if sweat around the collar! Worst experience in a restaurant I've ever had. Food was greasy, salty, overdone , amongst other things. The bathroom stunk so bad, I had to go hold my nose to relieve myself, no soap to wash hands, paper holder broken, etc. trays were empty, not being refilled.. deserts were old, ice cream was not ice cream, but frozen milk products, threw that away also. I have been to this location twice first time it was okay. Second time it was horrible they had no desserts and what they did have was disgusting cobbler burned, banana pudding was watery and nasty looking! Worst part was I saw the baker drop the strawberries and picked them up and added them to a cake didn't even bother to rinse them! Won't be coming back! read more

Place is clean and the food bar is always with food. Place will have its busy times and its normal for the service not to be excellent and would not be appropriate to give a bad review because a person's server was overwhelmed by tables and annoying guests. Since my first review I decided to go back and try again. Things have been cleaned up quite a bit. The food is delicious and generally fresh. The grill guys are super awesome and cook great. They have really stepped up their food and cleanliness. I am very happy with how they are now! read more

Have gone here a number of times. Seems to be getting worse with every visit. Starting to remind me of when they were on Boca Chica. Yesterday I went at one o'clock and had to wait on utensils as they no longer are with the plates. The salad bar had run out of thousand island dressing. The food trays on the buffet were mostly empty and the help looks the other way when you try to get their attention. The Golden Corrals in Harlingen and McAllen are much better with a better selection of food and desserts. I can't understand why the one in Brownsville is always substandard. And by the way they just raised their prices on seniors. read more
