We have not been here for breakfast since the pandemic. We were in the area doing a delivery and called to see if they offer a breakfast buffet on the weekend. We were so excited to find out the answer is yes!! The food is all kept at the perfect temperature! Everything we ate was very tasty and what I would expect at a breakfast buffet. They have some lunch items like chicken and tacos also available at breakfast time. I took some videos of the buffet for you to see some examples of what they have... sorry if it seems to fast but it was clear of customers and the right time to take them. If you love breakfast foods, you really need to come here and give this place a try. There were food items that customers dropped on the floor while filling their plates, but there was someone periodically sweeping the floors and carpets clean. The counters and tables are kept clean and plates are removed from the table promptly. My husband drinks a lot and our waitress Maria J kept his cup full! What a great experience! Went on a Saturday night around 5:00 It was not busy The way they have you stand in line to pay & order drinks that you then have to carry a tray with 5 drinks to your table is odd. If the put soda machine & other drinks out people would drink more, which they don't want. Food was abundant with lots of options. Everything was ok, but desserts were above average with lots of different pies & cakes Bill was way too much, I think $120 for 5 buffets read more

So many choices of wonderful food! It's a buffet so I didn't expect much in the way of service. I'm happy to say that I was wrong! Our table was kept clean & they were prompt on the drink refills! I like the way it's laid out! Instead of rows of heating/cooling tables, this place has their food items close to the kitchen. It's well done! read more

One word DISGUSTING!!! I have been to many restaurants and buffets throughout the U.S and there's some good and bad, this one is bad. Smells like a nursing home, food taste like it has poison, workers don't wear gloves or hair nets, food is reused and finally costumers stick their hands on the food!! Very unsanitary. read more

The staff were very friendly. The food was decent, a wide selection though, the price is decent considering how much fresh veg they have. The salad bar selection is really fresh and lots of selection, though why pay for a buffet and get veggies? They have a fresh cooked station which is nice but I think they are required to kinda really cook things through so if you want it med rare, it's gonna be med well at best. During special times of the year they have various special things going on. I happened to go when they had prime rib and fish fry. Prime Rib had the same issues as their steak etc, it looked super pink when you get it but when you actually get it back to the table, it turns grey. It was well seasoned though and still tender, just not as tender as I would have liked but what do you expect for that price. They had whole catfish, which is um, interesting... it tastes good but I don't like bones. They also had butterfly shrimp which were actually pretty good. Also some baked fish, that was very tender and flaky. I recommend that. Tartar sauce is just like MCD's! mmmmm They also have a dessert area, a lot of various cakes and pies, they are all made there which is nice. The thing I enjoy more is the ice cream, they had mint choc chip and Oreo. Just go over to the side by soft server and ask. You can also get cotton candy I think. I saw a machine behind the counter. Cups looked disgusting, didn't even purchase a beverage because I couldn't bring myself to drink out of it. The first room we entered smelled like urine and every other room had dirty tables. $50 and I couldn't find a clean plate or bowl. The staff was great. The food was okay. That said, I could not help but wonder if the cockroach crawling on the table next to us later ended up in the chocolate fountain, or worse, someone's food. As I sat there pondering the fate of the cockroach, I looked up and saw an advertisement for the Bourbon Street Chicken and noticed the family shown eating said chicken was a African American family. We went in at 2:40 expecting to pay the lunch price of 8.99 and we're told it was now the dinner price of 20 dollar per a person. However online and another Golden Corral we called said it was still lunch prices at 10 dollar with a drink. It's unreal the markup they are using. For a family a 4 it should never cost 80 plus dollars for a family to eat at a supposed cost friendly place. Would never recommend to come here and should just make the ride to Algonquin. read more

4 stars because it's fairly good value. $20 dinner for 2 on Mon-Thu, lunch priced at $7-8 (ends at 4pm). Nice salad bar and desserts. Usually like their steaks. Awesome onion rings. It was during their wings promotion and was priced at $11something/person. I would've been okay with the price, except that the wings were poor in taste and selection. They were frequently out of their non-original flavors and the sauces weren't good at all, generally overly sweet and artificial. After that experience, both of us agreed that Golden Corral wasn't for us anymore. The onion rings were still my favorite though haha. EDIT June 2013 - 4 stars only for the brunch. I was extremely against going here again after my lackluster dinner experience during their wings promotion, but I was outvoted. I'm glad I gave Golden Corral another shot because it turned out to be a great local breakfast option mainly because of their massive, made-to-order omelettes and their fruit/salad spread. You can select the ingredients that you want in your omelette, and it's made right in front of you, ready in a few minutes. Love their fruit & salad bar, a ton of variety. We went there last Sunday for birthday breakfast I was pleasantly surprised that they had an omelet station. A little disappointed that I couldn't get egg white omelet but I got over it fast when I tasted the omelet that was made for me. It was excellent and a very good value. I'm hoping the Golden Corral in my neighborhood is just as good. read more

Manager could probably care less about customers concerns and if they are enjoying their meal. I came here 3 times during the month of October and the options that were out had been out for a while, and options aren't as good as the location in Bloomingdale. I asked if more could be made & she said no ... why are they on the clock if their not cooking anything? There are signs and disposable gloves all over in restaurant stating you must wear mask and gloves when getting servings of your food., due to the copid virus. While I was eating, two men walked up grabbed a plate and started serving their food with no gloves on. There was an employee standing right them and asked them how they were doing. Never did that employee tell them to put gloves on. I told manager and all he did was put clean serving spoons in food, after the food was contaminated with the spoon that the men were holding. I never ate my food , was not offered a refund and the two men still were not old about the gloves. I was upset and left. read more

I was very dissatisfied while we visited there for lunch today. We were there shortly before 1:00 and were charged dinner prices. There wasn't much of a selection of food at all and what was there had sat around for a few hours already. Besides the canned peaches, all the fruit was hard. The serving area had food all over, and a pile of scalloped potatoes sat there out entire visit. The restroom needs to be checked more often. Toilets were full and not flushed, and a diaper was left behind in the garbage can. I'll never visit this location again, nor recommend it to anyone. read more

My wife and I stood in line for about 10 minutes on a Saturday night to spend $30 for buffet from hell. The place was utter chaos and filthy. Not a clean table to be found although plenty were empty. The buffet was well picked over and not being restocked. There was food all over the floor and the dishes were dirty. While walking past the kitchen, 2 staff members were screaming profanities and brawling with each other. I would have thought there wasn't a manager on duty but I did hear an overhead page calling one to the front counter. My husband and I decided to give the Golden Corral a try after seeing all the ads on TV. First thing that they did was assign us a server - what do we need a server at a buffet for? To refill drinks because GC opted not to put a soda fountain on the floor where you can refill your own drinks. The server assigned to our table did not refill our drinks once, I had to get up and go over to the cashier to ask for a refill (which he made me wait 5 minutes to get). The server then had the nerve to give us a nasty look when she saw we did not leave a tip. At first we were exicted to try all of the food since there was a large variety. Between my husband and I, we tried just about everything available. It was all cold, dry, and disgusting. The only things that tasted even remotely good were the mashed potatoes and the salad (because honestly, how could you mess up a salad?). Everything, and I mean everything, else was cold. The dessert bar was terrible. I just about cracked a tooth on a rice krispie treat and the cake was so dried out that it was inedible. The orange chicken looked like the food I feed my dog, the rice was cold and hard, and the ribs were all fat. It was really terrible food, my husband and I left feeling sick. I would never waste my money here again. I would rather just cook than go back to the Golden Corral. read more

The only reason this place even gets one star is because the bread they have is pretty good.. Then again, it tastes like warm hawaiian bread, which is why I like it. So next time I'd rather just go to Jewel and pick up some of that instead. The service here is TERRIBLE. I was pushed more than once by a staff member because I was "in the way".. Our server [why do we need servers for a buffet?] refilled our drinks ONCE while my family and I were there.. even though we were there for a good hour and a half. They do have a good assortment of food, but my taco meat had at least 3 hairs in it. Some of the other food lacked major taste.. and the brownie / chocolate cake [I'm not sure what it was] tasted like an experimental "microwavable cake" I tried a few years ago.. basically it tasted like rubber. The place is very cramped. There's hardly room to move around in your seat, which is usually already rubbing up against the person's seat behind you. Do yourself a favor. It's buffet food, but decent. Our server, Abby, was beyond expectation, she chatted with the clients that were alone and made sure everyone's drinks were refilled and plates cleaned off quickly. She was so good, that I would ask to sit in her section the next time I go in. The staff behind the counters aren't as attentive. Empty food stations with no one behind the counter to ask. While we went on a Wednesday evening, I would still expect the desserts to be replenished before they're completely empty. I was hoping for cobbler, but the container was empty when I arrived (and yes, life is short so I eat dessert first), and the one they started after I checked was dropped, so they started a new one - that wouldn't be done until much later. When you roll up to the Golden Corral, it occupies a large corner of a strip mall that looks like a ghost town. And though this might not be my first, second, or third choice for eats, there were some positives, to go along with the negatives, at this exceptionally large international style buffet. A friend selected this spot so we could "munch" as we discussed work. Our group of 4 soon realized that at peak time, Golden Corral is more entertaining, in terms of people watching, than it is a place to be in work mode. After forking over bucks to eat until we dropped, we were offered beverage choices, and although several of the iced teas sounded wonderful only one was available. We were ushered to our table, conveniently located smack dab next to the selections of colorful plastic plates and utensils. It definitely takes awhile to peruse the choices when you actually hit the buffet line; and height dependent, some folks were underneath all protective barriers when scooping up food. Hmmm. Was it my imagination or did I really see one, make that two, okay three really cute kids select plates and put forks back in the containers after they had hit the all purpose rug. Choose wisely. Many options are cooked to order; that appealed to me. And many of the items were easy to label as super fresh due to massively high turn over. The staff behind the barriers as well as those continuously removing used plates were not only friendly, but efficient, and several made a point of providing brand spanking new portions if anyone's lower lip quivered in sadness; IE. the super great cinnamon bread pudding. My meal was tasty and hot; and my salad was fresh. Though I didn't venture off to far in buffet-land, I was able to discover some awesome garlic and herb biscuits that melted in my mouth. The dessert section was interesting; they have quite a few sugar free options (look for that blue handled serving spoon), as well as a fountain of chocolate. The appeal here is no doubt for families; and the place was packed. Kudos to the serving staff, but maybe it is literally too tough to corral the hygiene factor when feeding the hungry masses. We sat in Jasmine's section and Jasmine's way of cleaning tables was to stack all the dirty plates on one of the back tables and her and her friend (?) would scrape them in the dining room into the slop bucket in the dining area and then stack them almost 2 foot high by color. Everywhere you looked there were dirty plates. It was disgusting!!!!!!! Lots of people were asking for silverware (all dirty and piled up too on a tray at the back table ). Had to ask repeatedly for our drink refills... Needless to say we quickly lost our appetites! My wife and I visited the Golden Corral in Elgin after her colleague sang high praises of the place. On entering we noticed the place to be very crowded, there was little room and the air was stale and seemed to lack oxygen. After paying $3 more than we would have for Old Country Buffet we found the food to be to greasy, the salad wilted and all the juices watered down and not being properly cooled, bacteria seem to thrive and obviously having a good time in this place. There wasn't much food to choose from and all seemed to be sickeningly fatty or to sweet. The food made my wife and I nauseous. Later that day my wife had diarrhea and I felt sick to my stomach thinking of taking Pepto-Bismol. Never again, long live Old Country Buffet. read more

This is the worst!!!!!!!!! Food was cold And dried out. Heavy on the pepper!!!! You could suck on the pepper shaker and get less then they have put on the meat here. The only thing that was not cold was the chicken but it was like they just pored hot grease over it. And it was 18.00 and change for dinner not a good value at all. Restaurant Review Steak and a chocolate fountain, what more can you ask for! Although in the ads, the buffet looks amazing; the actual quality of the food is quite average. If you go during peak times be prepared to line up the in the "corral" for seating. You are greeted with large grills with large sirloin or flank steak upon entering the buffet. Along the side if the custom seafood station where you can get "crab cakes" (mostly filling with small piece of crab meat), shrimp scampi with noodles, or white fish. The fish is not bad, but your typical white fish cooked by skillet with seasoning. The steak is notably tough and resembles large flank steak that have been marinated to soften the roughness of the meat. Scattered throughout the buffet is multiple food items including yeast rolls (amazing with the honey butter), veggies (corn, carrots, etc.), asian stir fry, salad bar, ribs, pizza, etc. There is slightly larger selection than Old Country. Wrapping up your meal the chocolate fountain with rice crispies, marshmallow, macaroons, and pineapple was a real treat. The soft serve was below Mcd quality. Overall the place is clean compared to other Golden Corral. Wait staff is hard working and the table was always cleared of dirty plates. Hmmmmm..... Tried this place last night and will be the last time too!! Veronica, the server was awesome, but that's it. This place is a dump...and I mean filthy, and the food, well, its a cheap buffet. Went to the washroom and there was dirt about an inch deep on the vent, emergency lights, etc. So if you have asthma, be aware. If they can not even clean a bathroom, what else are they not cleaning?? Went by the the desert bar, looked into the kitchen and you could see the filth underneath the ice machine. Remember, ice is considered food, so be aware again.
