As far as I'm concerned, Golden Corral mashed potatoes should be part of the food pyramid. No matter how picky you are, you will find something tasty that fits your dietary needs here. The rolls, mashed potatoes, steak, and dessert bar are all infamous but there's more to choose from too - including a great salad bar! The reason why I've deducted two stars is that the price of this once family affordable place has gone up quite a bit and is now in competition with mid-priced restaurants. Upon arriving I explained to the hostess/cashier that I just had gastric surgery and asked if I could pay by weight like a to go order since I can only eat between 1/4 & 1/2c of food. She shook her head and only charged for our grandsons and my husband. I got my bit of food and went back to have it weighed, she didn't say anything to me and went and got the manager. He came over and I tried to explain what I had told her and was wanting to do. He was incredibly obstinate and told me things like this needed to be addressed before paying. Right off the bat my extremely fit and handsome husband were hit with the host asking us, "are you two adults or two seniors?" Yeah, I get it, the host was probably not even 18 years old and not trained in the proper way to handle these particular situations. But it was embarrassing. I will give them a 3 on food considering some stuff was cold or sitting for a while. Service would depend on which server or manager you would be dealing with at that moment. Spent 40.01 for myself and my husband. We only ate one plate as the food was tasting old and the steaks were all over cooked. Our waitress who did not speak any English did the best she could however we couldn't understand her, she couldn't understand us. The manager tried to get the cooks to recook the steak medium rare. However it kept coming back well done. Went for the salad bar for myself and the carrots were black on the ends, cucumbers were cut into huge pieces which made it hard to even cut up. The pot roast was cold, scalloped potatoes were cold, the only thing hot was the buns. I come through here often with family when we are in town. First time at a Golden Corral and not a bad experience at all. We thought the food tasted good and it was a great deal getting unlimited ribs and steaks for $11.99...so can't really complain. The waiters were attentive and working the whole time, no one standing around as far as we could see. My only complaints are the cleanliness of the place: the utensils had left over food on them so we had to sanitize with hot water and the work stations behind the salad bar was dirty with water puddles on the floor. We ate at Furrs yesterday and I realized how bad it compares to Golden Corral and we haven't tried this one since moving here. Well, here we are. The steak was great. Better than my last visit to a Golden Corral. I love eating here so that was a huge plus. The rolls are my favorite part of visiting here but these were not as soft and fluffy as usual. They were not bad, just not up to their usual high level instead. However, everything was good enough to warrant a repeat visit. As previously mentioned place needs an upgrade. Went on a Sunday 9-5-21. Terrible food prep & display, workers don't care, Fire the cooks as they know not what they cook or microwave. Waitresses try but are over whelmed. Poor entry way not handicap friendly as we saw 2 seniors one wheelchair & walker trying to maneuver their makeshift rope entry gauntlet prepared by the cashier. Ruben is our favorite server. He is the reason why we visit. This is the first time I saw a manager walking the line and talking with cooks. A good sign, the rest of the night I never saw him again, a bad sign. Friday they make a killing of entrees. Top sirloin, baby back ribs, the best fried chicken, fried shrimp, loved the liver and onions, crispy fried catfish, hush puppy's, clam chowder, pork chops, grilled squash was amazing, diner roles are to die for. By Far the best Golden Corral I've ever been to with a outstanding staff. The breads were warm and my wife is a stickler for bread, so it being warm was a bonus! The waitress always came around to ask for anything we needed and the food was amazing. Clean all the way around too, from parking lot to bathrooms. The food bar was not messy and always stocked. I've been to many golden corrals all around the United States and found that this was one of the worst. I've talked to many people about their experiences here and found that most of them are exactly the same. We joke that this is a unique Golden Corral because they only serve side dishes. My group showed up about 7 p.m. and found that most of the main dishes were all gone and we're not replaced. The restaurant was absolutely trashed. We ate here last night. It was extremely busy. With that being said, it was actually very clean. The food was good however some of the food tasted old, almost like fresh was stirred in. Majority of food was good. Variety offered! Dessert bar was amazing as well. Outside of some of the food tasting old, it was delicious. Servers were not very attentive. They would stare at you but unless you asked for a refill, one was never offered. This was the worst GC I have ever been too! I look forward to finding a GC as there are none in my town but this one for lunch basically was terrible. Got there about 11:30am for lunch they were still making breakfast. Got fried fish and chicken it was cold and tasted like it was cooked yesterday.
