Golden donut is by far one of the best places to grab a bite and drink. The people who work there, the people who eat there, altogether make the experience life-changing. I realized this after blogging about a personal experience: "A man in a red hat sits in front of me. We greet each other with smiles. He turns his back and engages a conversation with five other men, the topic revolves and is rooted out of nationalism from their respective countries. Out of respect, I tune out and watch the women on the other side of counter, operating the donut shop. They're providing great service. They look so happy handing handmade juices and white bags of donuts. They have a huge line waiting almost reaching the end of the door. Each customer, each life, all part of a little in store community. It feels like love. There's little black and brown babies running around their parent's legs, circling and grabbing the loose part of their parent's clothes. They're so adorable. At moments, when the children run near the table I am at, adult conversations pause to acknowledge the kids. I'm getting convinced that I am home." The feels in that shop are always positive. Also, the workers, the workers are so nice and generous. My favorite item that I constantly order is the C13 - croissant sandwiches w/avocado and a side of jalapeños (sandwiches are always warm, soft, and crunchy on the surface bread). Then I like drinking the A1 and A2 green juices, and the blends of carrot juice and orange juice, and also the custom lemonade and orange juice (ask nicely if you want this, and be okay with a "no."). They just renovated too, and the place looks amazing. I'm excited for them to finish the renovations. According to the manager, they will add a new juice bar, and add more for quality service. This is the place to eat and relax. A place to enjoy and share with hardworking people. "It's love. It's affordable. It's golden." If parking is an issue, you can always park outside of the little lot, on the streets, or even the transit parking across from the restaurant. Also, if you're traveling on the green line, and get of Hawthorne/Lennox station, this is a good spot to rest, and eat. read more

This donut shop usually gets a little crowded and the food does take a bit to prepare but it is WORTH IT! The shakes, sandwhiches and teas are really good! They also have a fresh juice section and sell donuts, pastries, and ice cream. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the iced coffee but I usually get an iced milk tea instead which is delicious. If you're thinking about stopping by, you should, it gets crowded for a reason. read more

Stopped by here for a quick dessert before dropping a friend off at the airport. It's definitely a bit divey but I don't mind. The customer service here is excellent. Cannot believe how affordable this gem of a donut shop is! Customer service is great as well which puts the icing on the.... donut? (yeah I'll stick to my day job and leave the jokes out next time) We grabbed a glazed and crumbed old fashion donut along with a sausage, egg and cheese croissant sandwich. They were also kind enough to slice a croissant and fill It up with cream cheese for me as well! We washed It all down with a creamy Thai tea with boba. The boba was PERFECTLY chewy. Everything was delicious, especially the croissant with cream cheese (which may now be a new fave snack for me). Looking forward to coming back to try the other pastries and sandwiches! Good place to stop by when you need a sugary fix i lobe how they have almond cookies. I havent purchased any just yet. I went in to get half a dozen donut holes for the little one the lady told me they only sell them as a dozen for $1 ok. Went here on my day off as I'm new to the neighborhood. I really liked my donut holes and they seemed to have a large selection of breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the bacon and egg bagel which was very tasty. I can imagine this place being crowded early mornings and also a hassle with the parking lot being small. All time fav donut place to get a fresh and authentic BBQ Pork Sub (Bánh mì) with a Thai Iced Tea with Boba for an affordable price. I've tried many bbq pork subs and Thai Iced teas at other locations and nothing really compares to how they make it at this place. I drive 20mins to get it whenever I'm craving it. I've also tried their berry smoothie that my friend ordered once and it was so refreshing. Not sure about their other smoothies but I know they use real berries in this particular drink! Highly highly recommend those 3 items. I've been wanting to try their other sandwiches, as they all look so tasty. Their fresh veggie and fruit juice section always looks appealing to me also, as they have everything from beets to ginger and all that healthy goodness.
