While passing through Eau Claire we decided to stop at the Golden Dragon. It definitely caters more to the take out business but they do have a fairly big and clean dining area. Lunch specials are only Mon-Fri. Fairly American traditional Chinese food. You order at the counter. We ordered egg drop soup, 2 egg rolls and 4 entrees. Everything was just average. Nothing amazing, nothing bad. Food was served take out style. Really reasonable portions and prices. (3 sodas+ tip and the above under $50) If in the area we would consider returning. read more

My husband and I ordered from DoorDash unfortunately, the hot and spicy beef that I ordered was filled with 90% thick cuts of celery and onion and the other 10% was super thin cuts of beef. Every mouthful was 90% vegetables and 10% beef. If I wanted to eat a vegetarian dish, I would've done so. The sauce tasted okay it was kind of weird. I've definitely tasted better. read more

Food from Golden Dragon is always hot, fresh, and flavorful. My only disappointment is that the sweet-n-sour sauce didn't have any chunks of onion or green pepper in it, and only ONE tiny piece of pineapple. The sauce was just missing that extra flavor and presentation quality I've come to expect from Chinese dishes. read more

Some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Meat was questionable, vegetables looked anemic and had zero flavor, the sauce for the almond chicken was uhh.. weirdly goopy. I went the first time and at first taken aback in that you have to holler from the door to the order taker. We ordered chicken lo mein and fried rice but we got fried rice with ham?? While in town on business for a couple weeks, I decided to order in from Golden Dragon for a change of pace from the hotel restaurant. I love good chinese food, and I travel extensively so I've been able to try many great and unfortunately terrible places. I read good reviews about this place, so I decided to give it a try. One review mentioned the Empress Chicken, so I went with that and some Sweet and Sour Chicken to try also. My experience was pretty good, almost great, from the time I placed the order until the leftovers were put away. The woman answering the phone to take orders was extremely helpful, very patient, and did not rush this new customer at all. Delivery time was 45 minutes, just as I was told since they were busier than usual when I called. Much to my surprise the delivery driver brought my order right to my hotel room door, which was a long walk for him with the only entrance for him being the lobby. When I served up a plate and took a bite, the Sweet and Sour Chicken was perfectly crispy and delicious! The crunch was almost as loud an biting into an apple, and that's after riding around with the delivery driver in a sealed carton where most food gets soggy. No sweet and sour sauce for dipping, which was a slight disappointment, but the fresh and hot dish more than made up for that. The Empress Chicken, which I had never tried before, was interesting. It seemed to be somewhere between Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. It was mildly spicy and very crispy even though it was tossed in a sauce. It was served with onions, peas, and small peppers. Since it was my first time trying this dish, it was interesting, but the newness wore off after a few bites. The flavor of the sauce was very bland, I thought. All in all, I thought the food was excellent. Very hot, fresh, and tasty. I would not order the Empress Chicken a second time, but that's just my personal preference. Highly recommended! read more

We have eaten here twice and both times we have gotten sick - not food poisoning I don't think, but pretty sick. The food doesn't look very appetizing and doesn't have memorable flavor. The General Tso's chicken, both times I've had it, was soggy and grisly. The Lo Mein tasted pretty good, but I think that's what made us all sick. We won't be dining here again. I give two stars out of mercy. I found the food bland. Egg Roll was cooked well but lacked any flavor. Sweet and Sour Chicken was lacking enough S&S . Hunan beef was seasoned with too much salt..,and we didn't add Soy. I got sick a few hours later...not badly sick..,just a little time in B/R. Sorry. I will not go back. My family has dined in and taken out meals over many years and the food has always been consistent. We usually order cashew chicken, happy family and the low mein. We always get the egg rolls and I like the mixture of cabbage and pork, good flavor and good size. Recently I had the chicken and broccoli and it was very good. The broccoli, carrots and bamboo were fresh and had just the right amount of crunch. I didn't care as much for the chicken because the coating was a bit soggy for my taste. If the chicken was better I would give it four stars. The sauce was very good. The cashew chicken has a good variety of vegetables and is not merely full of celery like other restaurants. I would also give more stars if they used environmentally friendly containers. read more

I'm usually a pretty understanding person when it comes to being busy and running behind, however, when you have to wait 45 mins for an order I tend to be a tad irritated. They're constantly yelling and arguing with each other, the food sits in the window for a long period of time, and the customer service is not the greatest. I really struggle with what to give this. My food was *very* good and if it was just about my own food I would have given it a 4, but the killer and the reason I don't intend to go back is the awful customer service. I tried to pay for garlic shrimp ($5.15, plus tax, toataling $5.86 which is a really good price). I gave the guy a $20 and he couldn't figure out what to do with it. He apologized and said it was his first day on the job, but evidently he was too stupid to figure out that he needed to go to the boss and clearly explain that he didn't understand the cash register. All he did was stand there. Then the boss came along and took a phone call. Meanwhile, there sat my $20 on the counter while I was waiting for someone to stop being absurd and do their job. I mean, how difficult is it to subtract $5.86 from $20 in one's head? $14.14, duh. How the boss could come and take a phone call but be completely oblivious to the bad customer service and the problem with the cash register that was unfolding in front of her face is beyond me. Also, the cashier had the cash register open during this bizarre charade; any normal person would have reasoned that the thing to do would be give the customer the $14.14 change and call back to the kitchen that there was an order of garlic shrimp but the cash register wouldn't work. After a few minutes it became just too absurd, so I snatched my $20 back, wrote out a check for the exact amount, saying "ok, I'm going to make this easy, now you don't need to even give me any change." Seeing the check on the counter is what got the owner's attention, because (as it turns out) they don't take checks. Funny how she was completely oblivious to her employee not doing his job in other respects, but as soon as she spied a check on the counter it roused her from her apathy/oblivion. So I snatched my check back and snarled (yes, by this point I was snarling) "sure I can pay in cash, if someone can bother doing their job this time and giving me change back." So I shreaded the check and passed over the $20 bill again, and finally (several minutes after initially ordering and commencing this ridiculously absurd situation) was given my change. If you have never had Chinese food before, then the Golden Dragon is amazing (see the review from 5/15/2014). If you have eaten Chinese food before, you will be sorely disappointed and it may make you violently ill. I'm new in town and I ordered delivery. I had only bad things about Chinese food in Wisconsin, and the Golden Dragon really lived up to that reputation! I am probably too optimistic that another Chinese place in the area might be better (but it can't be worse than the Golden Dragon (fingers crossed!). read more

I have been going to the Golden Dragon for years now and have never been disappointed. Their food is amazing, the fried rice is the best in town! Keep in mind there IS a language barrier between the owner and a good amount of people in the area. Don't be quick to judge the man. Delivery is slower than a lot of businesses but it is always worth it for me when the food gets there. read more

I used to order from here weekly with my co-workers. We moved to the other side of town, and have greatly missed this place. Well we decided to order for old times sake, and I drove back to pick up our order. There were only 3 people in the restaurant, which was odd, because that place was always packed. when I got back to the office to eat, I opened up my to go container, and instantly knew this was not the same owners. I had Moo Goo Gai Pan, and I don't know if I can ever look at it the same again...anywhere! My chicken had some weird breading on it that looked half cooked, I had to pull all the chicken out because it just grossed me out, and I am not a picky eater. I ended up eating the rice and veggies until I grabbed a fork full and the veggies were full of thick slime, little too much corn starch? I don't know...I'm disgusted. I'm staring at my food pissed that I wasted my gas to drive back to our once favorite Chinese Restaurant, and pissed I paid money for slime and ill looking chicken. If you like People screaming at each other in chinese this is the place to go! the last 4 times my order has been wrong, EVERY time they scream at each other. Its really uncomfortable. Its also hard when you get delivery and have to drive all the way there to get the correct food. Used to be way better. Vegetables are fresh which is a plus but the food is bland. I'll drive to Ninja or get eat street to deliver it. At least then I don;t have to listen to screaming. Who knows what they are saying. read more
