If you want to eat what the restaurant wants you to eat and not pay extra, Golden Krust is the place to go. The food is good, but if you want a different side other than rice and peas and cabbage, you will have to pay a dollar extra for each substituted item. This is bad business to me. I will be going to my other island restaurants where I have a choice of what I eat. Why should I have to pay extra if I want mac and cheese and collard greens. Let me know when this policy changes. DISGUSTING!!! Always amazed when I see people swear how good some of the worst restaurants are!!!! Golden Crust started in NYC where I am from over 10 years ago.....I wasn't impressed back then when I ate at their first store in Brooklyn and damn sure not impressed now. These places get away with serving mediocre ethnic food because they know that a lot of Americans don't know what Caribbean food is suppose to taste like. Was recently told that they have good Jamaican beef patties.....have never eaten one from Golden Crust before so decided to give it a shot! Absolutely disgusting!!!!!! I am convinced that they are not using real beef what's scary is that I could not figure out what I was eating. Lesson for everyone who reads this..... before you eat any type of ethnic food and tell people that it tastes good please I'm begging get on a plane and visit the Caribbean and taste the real thing so that you will know what it's suppose to taste like. decided to give them a second try. ordered a small stew chicken with rice didn't realize till the last minute that the young lady gave me the last of the stew chicken which I knew then it was gonna be an issue. right after she fixed my plate she immediately bought out a fresh batch of stew chicken .when I got to the register I asked the guy to open the container of chicken and let me see it. I couldn't tell because it was heavil covered with gravy, he added an extra piece of chicken as a courtesy. I advised him that I wanted him to check because this was the last of the chicken, and usually when that happens it's the leftover parts that they didn't put in the plate when serving someone. I get home started eating the chicken and there was nothing but bone. called Them and I explain what happened to the lady. She asked me did I not notice It was no meat before I purchased. I had to explain to the lady that when you purchased stew, chicken or anything with heavy gravy on it, you can't tell how much meat is on the bone I'll until you actually start eating it .I would never go to them again read more

Used to be good. I stopped going there primarily because the tall girl is rude, mouthy, and talks over your food while she's fixing it. One too many times for me. Update 12-2017 started going back about 3 months ago. I've been back about 3 times. Last week I ordered a large curry chicken plate and the girl was very stingy with the meat. I nicely asked her about it and she said that's all you get. I didn't say anything else, but I know when I come there the other girls give decent portions . If you enjoy Jamaican cuisine you should check them out. They have curry chicken, oxtails, stew chicken, beef patties, chicken patties, and desserts as well. There are also drinks such as Cream soda and regular coke soda drinks. Customer service is great. There are is a great serving amount. There isn't an option to dine inside. Curry chicken patties and stew chicken plates are my favorite. I will say the food can be somewhat spicy so it might be best be careful when choosing. There is parking right outside so you won't have too far to park. Located right on Mount Zion Blvd inside a shopping a Plaza. The wait wasn't bad. It was hard to find at first but it's located next door to the Publix in the plaza. You can call ahead to preorder if you don't want to wait when you arrive. They offer vegetarian options on the menu. I will definitely return. read more

We ordered my FAVORITE "JERKY CHICKEN cabbage plantain with peas and rice & Brown stew chicken cabbage with peas and rice" My Jerk Chicken was FABULOUS. There's a lil lady cooking her behind off in that kitchen. The meat was tender and seasoning had marinated ALL THE WAY THROUGH...every bite WARMED MY HEART . I won't be returning to Golden Krust. I ordered a large oxtail plate that came with rice and beans, vegetables, and plantains. The best part of the plate was the plantains. The south side has finally gotten a Golden Krust. I've eaten at another location in Maryland and it was my go to. My coworker and I came for lunch and she and I were very impressed. They give out some pretty big portion sizes. Service was good and honestly everything looked good. I had the plantains which were so sweet and good. The beef patty was good as was the coco bread. My coworker said that the goat rotti was good as well. And the lunch specials were ridiculously cheap. read more

I am blessed to share good times over a nice meal with my mother regularly, I'm grateful. I asked my Queen where she wanted to spend our evening, her reply was, "Do want Jamaican?" Turns out she had tried Golden Krust for lunch recently and enjoyed it so much she wanted to share her "new fav" with me. Ironically, I just watched the episode of Undercover Boss just a few days before and had been talking about the show and how impressed and entertained I was. I didn't hesitate to oblige. Let me start with us stepping foot in the door. We were greeted with a warm smile, a friendly hello, and the aroma of flavorful fresh food! The place was spotless. The selection of food was hot, recognizable, and tempting. The menu was easily read and full of great Caribbean options. The young lady who assisted us was knowledgable and not bothered at all with answering questions. We felt so welcomed that we decided to dine in. While we were breaking bread with all smiles and full of great satisfaction I couldn't help but notice that the welcome was genuine and offered to everyone who entered their restaurant. I hear this so often but it rings true for me, "I don't usually do this", write reviews that is. I had to tell anyone who cares that this place is what we, as consumers, are looking for in service, and quality. This a real date night type of spot. My son and I entered restaurant about 7:59 pm, not taking notice that they close at 8pm. Upon entering I was greeted by a rude and obnoxious GIRL that works there, name TIA. Tia yelled "get out I am not serving you, we are closed, we close at 8". I could not believe that she was so uncivil and vulgar. I responded by telling her she was rude and obnoxious, the door should have been lock if that was the case. An elderly gentleman told me to come and order food, while letting Tia know he was going to report her. He was in disbelief of how rude, unmannerly and uncivil Tia was. I asked about getting in touch with a manager, only to hear that one of the lady there was the manager. This "so-call" manager was too busy telling me that at 8 pm register stop taking credit card and cash only. WOW!!!. My son wanted the curry so we went ahead and got 2 large. When we got home I found out that they did not put goat in one of the plate, rice and peas with gravy in the next. I was so focus on paying before "register stop taking credit card", that I did not realize goat was not in one plate. Tia did go to the back, where I think she belongs, instead of sticking around. I'd argue the case that "you get what you pay for", but Golden Krust is outlandishly overpriced for subpar Carribbean cuisine. My first visit back in July was decent, I ordered the stew chicken platter to go. The food was served at a modest temperature, the chicken was extremely tender, seasoned exceptionally well, and the portion was overflowing. I'm a little impressed, considering that this is a franchise, so I immediately dine again maybe a week shortly after. My impression is unfortunately short-lived. I ordered the exact same meal and it was completely different from what I had a week prior. The portions weren't as bountiful as they were last time, but that's not the matter here. What really disappointed me was that the food had all of the excitement of a 6 PM lecture course--it lacked flavor. I'm actually relieved I didn't spend over $18 to try the oxtail platter, I don't think my heart would stand for that kind of disrespect. 3/10 overall, it's upkempt and the associates are fast and friendly but a hard pass on the food and proportions. read more

why oh why is it so hard to find some excellent caribbean food in the atlanta area??!! i recently noticed this place and was so excited to try it. it was another disappointment. the server who was a light skinned lady with her hair pulled up in a bun--wasnt very friendly. she seemed tired and annoyed. she asked if i wanted cabbage and i said no, but all of the other places will give me extra rice or plantains to make up for it but she didnt offer anything extra. when i got to the register, i asked if i was being charged less since i wasnt given anything extra in place of the cabbage and the cashier said no i would still have to pay full price. so i said well just give me the cabbage then. so they get a thumbs down for that. and then once i tasted the food...another thumbs down. i know caribbean food and this didnt taste like carribbean food. it tasted more like cajun food. the stew chicken tasted like regular chicken with some hot sauce on it. i wasnt impressed and wont be returning. read more
