Great Hospice If you're looking for one where the nurses only come once a week and spend 15 minutes…read morewith you, and when you need them, they say they'll call you back and don't, or promise to send medication and don't, or when you text them a message, you receive a response, which is basically getting chastised like you're a little child & a burden. My mother was put on this hospice by her doctor. When they came out, they promised the moon and stars and told me that they would be here for me and my mom anytime, 24/7, and to never be afraid to call or text them.... The nurse came out once and couldn't get out of here fast enough... Then a few days ago, my mom was vomiting uncontrollably, like 2 1/2 cups, and she's 83 years old. So I contacted them, and they said to give her Zofran rather than coming out. The next day, my mom began vomiting uncontrollably again, and I contacted the nurse, and she said that she would call me back within 30 to 60 minutes. She never called me back. It wasn't until later that night that she responded and told me that she could get me some Zofran by 11 PM at night!!! Well, the Zofran never arrived, and I was searching for respite care and found another company that said they offered respite care, but my mom had to be a patient, and they could do a lateral transfer. So I let this company know that I would be doing the lateral transfer. Before I had even met the new company or signed any papers, this hospice discharged my mother and refused to offer her any assistance for her extreme vomiting. What I was told is that there is what's called a "lateral transfer," which means the original hospice does not stop offering services until the new hospice is set up... Well, this hospice discharged my mother before I had even met the new hospice and refused to help her at all with her nausea which lasted for a day and a half as they discharged her before she was admitted to the new hospice, couldn't stop vomiting and ended up having to go to the emergency room to get fluids which was not part of the advanced directive It's supposed to be what's called a lateral transfer so that the patient is not without care at any point in time. In my opinion, this hospice either has way too many patients or this is the "welfare version of hospice." I won't mention the name of the new hospice, but their nurses will come out four times a week, they offer respite care, and they are more of the Mercedes of hospices, and it's totally free through my mother's insurance. I won't name them, as I'm sure they don't want to be involved with this review, but do your research, talk to friends and family, and don't make the mistake I made of just going with whoever you're told to go with... If I could give them no stars, I would. The social worker was amazing, as was the chaplain, but the rest of the team utterly FAILED to even give my mom the most basic of care when she needed it most. Hey yelp... We need a zero star option!

My grandfather was suppose to be here for 5 days, but we moved him after 2 days because of the…read morehorrible treatment he received there. They basically kept him doped up on morphine so they wouldn't have to deal with him, and denied ever giving him morphine. They were told that he could only eat soft foods, and the first night I got there to visit, they had a pork chop, a hard roll, and veggies on his plate. He managed to eat 2 spoons of peas off the plate. The next morning, they told my parents that he ate almost all his breakfast and that he was greatly improving. My grandfather's last remaining kidney is functioning at less then 5% and he has been refusing food for the previous 2 weeks. Barely eating 100 calories a day. So to say he ate as much as he did was clearly a lie. Also, they left water out for him, but he was too weak to hold a glass. I never saw a nurse helping him at least drink water. His mouth was bloody and cracked from dehydration. When we checked him out to transfer him to a better facility, the medication charts showed they never gave him morphine, when clearly the bottle had a good portion removed from it, and he was clearly heavily medicated. They also put in his discharge papers that his health had greatly improved on his stay there, even though it is easy to see his health is rapidly declining. Also, right before the transport came to move him, a nurse walked in with his breakfast (again with foods he couldn't eat), sat the tray down, turned and saw the transport, and then said "oh thank god" at not having to try and feed him. My father, grandmother, and I all heard her snide comment. If you have loved ones, that are really ill and can't advocate for themselves, this is NOT the place for them.

In the review I spoke of the LVN Teresa Lehman . Through 7 months of going back and forth about medical care with my brother , many discussions and frustration on both of our sides I always feel it is necessary to update either way good or not so good . Teresa has listened and been receptive and not so receptive and I'm guilty of the same . We have definitely one thing in common the well being of my brother . She has stayed through arguments, discussions and we both want what is best for my brother's care and emotional well being and support . She is the only LVN in the facility and that a tremendous amount of care for one person and I now understand that . So I'd like to Thank Teresa for her unwavering commitment to a lot of residents my brother being only one of them . All though a person may lose their cognitive skills they are still there and it's just overwhelming for family . She has taken the time on her day off to go over things with us and I believe she does care about the profession she chose and it's a daily learning curve for all of us . Complained to the social worker and director and nothing was done. Never saw a doctor never saw a chaplain as they promised before they start hospice, they make it sound so wonderful as your loved one will be taking care of. They offer no compassion, they don't listen to your concerns. I never even received condolences from the nurse the day of my mother's death when she looked at me in the eye. They should not even be in the business of hospice absolutely disgusting how they treat their patients and family members.
