Lobby too fancy for this traveler! neato room keys and door tags! Con, mini bars now in the room? Not that I'm buying, but I rather not have to deal with missing items and extra bills or phone calls. That shower with the half door, seriously , water everywhere! Doors so new they don't open easily Don't get me wrong, this is a residence inn on roids, but the breakfast was ok, waffles! The previous visit wasn't the best experience but I was giving them another try because of their convenient location near my house. The food was okay. I paid $55/pp and would've gladly paid a little more for a little better quality food and more service. An omelette station would've been better than powdered scrambled eggs. Juice should've been included in the price as well. The charcuterie board had dusty looking cheddar cheese, didn't look fresh. The deviled eggs also looked like they'd been sitting out for a while. The make your own waffle option was cute, but I figured it was probably a boxed mix so I skipped it. Plus the chicken that was to go with the waffles wasn't very good. I've been to other Marriott's that have done way better on breakfast/brunch and/or food offerings. For the upscale vibe they're trying to portray, the food quality leaves much to be desired. Charge more and do better in the future. People will gladly pay more for a better experience, myself included. IMO the tile floor in the bar area takes away from the rest of the look, it's very busy.

Breakfast is a culinary delight of the senses. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The common areas welcome you to sit in the sunroom, by the fire, or in a private outdoor nook to read, have a drink, or watch a thunderstorm or some softly falling snow. Tea, water, Nespresso, and coffee are always available along with some delectable baked delight. Nancy is always full of great ideas for things to do and places to eat. A walk or bike on the nearby rail trail to the river is always beautiful. This is our place to reset, recharge, and relax.

I say that in the most respectful way and only mean to say that I'm guessing the whole shebang would be next to nothing without her touch, her oversight and her attention to detail. The detail in the rooms, the perfection at breakfast, the lovingly manicured grounds, assorted wonderful nooks... at first I was wondering what there is to DO in Highland and, to be honest, I'm still not sure... but given the bike path, beautiful scenery and Inn At Twaalfkill, I'm not sure what else you need. I'm not always a fan of B and Bs... they can tend to be a little twee and you feel like you have to tiptoe around... partially because the walls in a good hotel are much thicker, the spaces less cramped, your anonymity more protected. There may be a bit of that tip-toeing here (the floors are pretty squeaky and you are worried that you are making too much noise for someone on a different sleeping schedule) but that is the only downside. We had just spent two nights in a pretty nice hotel in Beacon. The room was over 50% more expensive than here and, while large enough, there was not one square foot of horizontal space to put anything down in the bathroom.... The room at Inn at Twaalfill had so much guest-friendly space (especially in the bathroom), you would not likely have a use for all of it. If all B&Bs were this great and this price, I would never stay anywhere else.

Yes,…read moreRocking Horse Ranch is more expensive but there is an endless amount of activities for the kids to do. We came on the coldest weekend of the year but my kids had a blast skiing, snow tubing, horseback riding, pony rides, arcade, game room, playing laser tag, swimming in the pool, the outdoor hot tub, and the nightly shows. Food is included in the price and it is buffet style for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is not but you are more than welcome to order more and take things to go. There's snacks available between lunch and dinner but there's also hot chocolate/coffee available all day long with some pastries. The only downside were the rooms. They are connected so if you have loud neighbors, you won't be getting good sleep. Overall, my kids loved the place and want to go back soon. I guess we'll have to wait for another Black Friday deal.

We stayed at Rocking Horse Ranch Tuesday through Thursday on a midweek deal and had a really…read moreenjoyable experience. I went with my wife and our two adult children (18 and 24). While they are a bit older than the resort's main target audience, it ended up being a great fit, especially since they had never been horseback riding and hadn't skied before. Everyone had a great time. We stayed in the main building in a room with two queen beds and bunk beds. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable with soft mattresses and pillows. Temperature-wise, it was funny, my son and I were warm, while my wife and daughter were cold, so I guess that means the room temperature was just right. One thing to note: the walls are thin. You can definitely hear noise from nearby rooms and above. Since this is a family-focused resort, that's kind of expected. It didn't bother us, but if you're looking for total quiet, this may not be the place. Since it was midweek, there were discounts, and they even offered us on our last night an extra night for and even more discounted rate. We were ready to head home, but I would absolutely consider staying longer next time. The resort is all-inclusive, and the food was solid overall. * Breakfast was your typical buffet--scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, etc. They will cook eggs to order if you ask. * Lunch was buffet-style as well and changed daily. Not amazing, but it got the job done. * Dinner was my favorite meal and felt a bit higher quality, with multiple courses and limited menu options (which I actually liked). * Dessert was fun, especially the ice cream machine. One thing I noticed is that the food is served at a kid-friendly temperature, which took a little getting used to. I'm guessing they do this so kids don't get burned. The activities were the highlight. Skiing was fantastic because it was almost empty, there were only a few other people on the hill. Since I hadn't skied since the early 90s, it was great to have the space to fall a few times without worrying about others. The staff was extremely helpful and encouraging. The hill is more like a bunny slope, but honestly, it's perfect for beginners. If you spent a few days learning here, you'd feel confident going to a bigger mountain. Horseback riding was also great, and since it was midweek, we could have gone multiple times a day. The indoor/outdoor heated pool was really nice, and there's even a waterslide. A lot of the resort seems better suited for summer, and some things were closed for winter, but we came mainly for skiing, so that didn't bother us. The staff deserves a lot of credit. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, and we never felt rushed. There's a saloon downstairs where they run games at night and offer a free drink of the night. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are always available. One small downside: when the dining areas close at night, soda machines aren't accessible, so you'd need to use vending machines (machines were coin only, so I couldn't use my Apple Pay), which felt a little odd for an all-inclusive resort. But, you can grab drinks to go while the dining room is open. On our last day, they let us do a late checkout since no one was checking into our room. We were able to grab lunch and head out without rushing, which was really appreciated. Definitely a lot more things I can talk about, but these were just the stand out things I remember. Overall: Rocking Horse Ranch is a great choice for families, beginners learning to ski, or anyone looking for a relaxed, all-inclusive getaway--especially midweek when it's quieter. It's not luxury, and it's definitely kid-focused, but it's fun, comfortable, and well-run. I'd absolutely go back.

Room was clean and spacious; we had a 2 queen bed with sofa on the 2nd floor. Plenty of parking and they had breakfast. Front desk lady who checked me in was friendly. They don't have an elevator so if stairs are a no go then you'd want to request a room on the first floor. The door by the stairs is exit only which was inconvenient since you had to walk around in the parking lot and enter through the lobby. There was a card reader on the outside of the door so they should consider fixing it so it can be used as an entrance. Coffee in the lobby was weak in flavor, very light. Breakfast options were limited. Only hot options were microwaved eggs and bacon and you can toast English muffin. A waffle maker would have been nice. Since they don't have a gym, there wasn't a water fountain in the hotel. While they did have a pitcher of water, it was small and not really effective for the whole hotel to use.
