The mirror on the closet door was cracked and one crack was patched with electrical tape. One of the he lampshades was deteriorating it was so old Ants in the bathroom The plug to the tub didnt work so we couldn't take a bath. The drop tiles on the bathroom ceiling were moist and beginning to go moldy. Nice accommodations. Negative reviews from previous guests always make me nervous, but we did not have any issues. Room was spacious, comfortable and had everything we typically need for an overnight stay. Coffee 24/7 made up for our last hotel not having coffee at all! We are local and needed a room for surgery recovery, we were given a rear room near the back exit. Walking down the hall had a horrible stink like wet damp shampooed carpet, yet there was a warn out rug with stained in front of every door. The room was over cramped with furniture the person sitting in the desk chair had to pull in between the beds for someone to walk by. Even the continental breakfast had 2 of 4 juices working had to keep asking for 2% milk for cereal very limited selection as opposed to other hotels plus the eating was so tight had to ask other guess to stand so I could get up for more coffee while we all sat in a stinky lobby It also looked like this property was too cheap to find a landscape company as they had a random old man racking leaves in the parking lot! There is no evidence door or outdoor swimming pool and the excersize equipment was jammed into a small closet sized room with no restrooms.. the vending machines were out of order also. The only reasons I'm giving it 2nd star is it had great water pressure with consistent really hot water. We checked out out to stay at a family owned Inn at Hyde Park Motel down the street with no stinky hallway and a lot nicer bigger room for the same price. My wife and I stayed 2 nights while visiting the National Park sites and the CIA campus. The location is very convenient and centrally located. The front desk clerk was friendly and made sure to demo how the weird shower mechanism works to every customer. Cost was a bit high for what this hotel is though. At $200/nt in late September, our dated room should not have smelled weird and have a damp carpet. The tub/shower unit was definitely installed incorrectly and had a bounce to it that explains why others had cracked units in their rooms. It's also very narrow and sloped which makes it precarious to turn around while taking a shower. The fridge, desk and dresser were all badly scratched and dented in the bedroom. The bed was okay but the pillows left a lot to be desired. The parking lot in the rear was not adequately lit either. The free breakfast isn't worth it but fortunately, there are many other quality options in the area. Overall, it may be worth the stay if you get it for maybe $79/nt or less, but for more than that and you'll be as disappointed as we were. We'll stay elsewhere next time we're in the area. read more

HORRIBLE. But...if you like staying in a disgusting, unclean facility, then the Quality Inn is for you! We had the misfortune of staying one night in mid August in this LACK of QUALITY INN located at 4142 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park NY 12538. Found just one vacant spot in parking lot that evening, so thankfully we did not have to park on the street. Surprised that we were Forced to pre-pay when we checked in. The room smelled old, and bathroom had not been cleaned well. OK, maybe it had been cleaned by a blind person, which would explain the dirt on the floor, lack of general cleanliness, and 3 tissues remaining in the tissue box. The so-called "complimentary" breakfast looked pretty bad, as in we did not want to have stomach problems from eating what they offered. So we checked out, and found real food elsewhere. We will NEVER stay in another Lack of Quality Inn, and I will not permit any of my employees to stay in one either. Several days later, when I had time, I called to complain to corporate, and the first unprofessional IDIOT representative in their off shore call center disconnected my call on purpose. Most of those reps are completely useless, which Choice Hotels, the parent company does NOT care about. All that Choice Hotels cares about is money the rest of what they say is truly bullshit. read more

I stayed in this hotel twice in April and May 2024 for a total of about 12 nights. I had family business to attend to and this was the most convenient hotel for me. One of the rooms had an odd smell. Both of them had thin walls and I could hear people in the adjoining rooms late into the night. In one room the TV broke repeatedly. The shower valves didn't seem to work properly and temperature control was difficult. I could see a note over the desk when I checked in to my first stay saying that several rooms were unrentable because of bed bugs. This hotel was not inexpensive either. During my most recent stay, some nights the room price exceeded $200, comparable to some much nicer hotels in New York City. Because I had been staying there so frequently, I tried to join the member reward program. However, the corporate support staff refused to add any points for my previous stays to my account because they were booked more than 30 days before I signed up for the membership account. One of the bookings was only 2 days before the 30-day window. I spoke to multiple support staff who refused to help and even told me things that weren't true. The only positive thing I could say about this hotel is that the hotel staff were helpful and doing their best under poor conditions. But I will avoid any Choice Hotel properties in the future. read more

I have stayed here multiple times but something has changed since our last stay. While it is old and in need of some updates it was usually clean. Sadly that has changed. Our shower head was covered in mold! This is the most disgusting thing that has happened to me in any hotel I have stayed at. I did not notice the mold until I had already stepped into the shower. The front desk staff seemed equally as disgusted and did send someone to address that and the number of other issues in the bathroom, broken ceiling fan, no cover on the light, and the doorknob was falling off but this was absolutely unacceptable. He said he let the manager know and instructed me to reach out to him. I also inquired about speaking to the manager upon checkout and she handed me a business card and said to email the manager. Do not go to this hotel. The curtains and bedding are tattered. The place is unkempt. When we entered the room, the TV was left on MS, NBC, and the pillow on the sitting chair was not even in place. The bathroom floors were unclean. When we pull down the sheets on one of the beds, there was old blood. This place is skanky after demanding to change the whole room. We woke up the next day and went to breakfast at 9:15. There was no more waffle batter so we asked for more and they replied we are done. Not only was the service pour, but the accommodations sucked. The windows and walls are so thin I could hear people outside, smoking and talking all night long. This did not feel very secure or private. I will never book an independently owned chain hotel again due to this circumstance avoid this place. read more

Upon arrival at almost midnight last night, I noticed the room was warm & smelled of cigarettes & I'm allergic. Went to turn on the A/C & found it wouldn't work. Checked the plug & saw that the cord & the plug were both burnt. Drapes were almost impossible to close, hair dryer wouldn't work. Not sure why housekeeping did not clean the room even though there was a "from service requested" tag put on the door (something we did not even know was a thing since we did not have one in our room). I went upstairs to check our room and it was in a similar state (less sticky, but still in total disarray with unmade beds and dirty towels, overflowing trash, etc). The front desk was not in the least bit helpful, especially since the clerk barely spoke English. Was told nothing they could do about any of it. I don't put blame on him as he is really just a body they stick there overnight. I think it's family-run as he called his manager (who was out of town at a convention of some sort...probably one on how to run the world's worst hotel). Definitely, neither were native English speakers. I only mention this because it made any time of effective communication practically impossible. We ended up leaving right then and there and driving the 90 miles back home after being up since 6:30 am and getting home at 3:30 am, exhausted, angry, and frustrated. We could have easily gotten into an accident due to that. Luckily my fiance didn't during much during the wedding so she was able to drive, but the exhaustion was just as dangerous. I could have forgiven our room as we did not know about this "room service card" that was actually missing, but the first-floor room did have it hanging (and it was missing when we got back anyway). But to miss TWO rooms by housekeeping was unacceptable. We spent $800+ for two rooms for two nights and barely spent 10 hours in either of them. I've spent way less and gotten way better service. Never again. I"m going to try and get a refund for the 2nd night and if not will probably file an official complaint with the BBB. And, btw, I have time-stamped pictures of the mess. We even had other friends there that weekend who had bad experiences (AC broke in the middle of the night). Not bad for a 2 star hotel! It's a simple room and does have a super tiny gym with water you can fill up your water bottle with (though it actually didn't taste too great, btw). Very close to the Culinary Institute of America which is where we ate Saturday night. Booked reservation online and requested that there be enough towels for 4 people and when we arrived at the room, not only did they have enough towels, they gave 2 extras sets. Room and bathroom were clean; the room was small for 4 adults but we were only staying one night so it wasn't too bad. We did walk pass the "fitness center" which as other people mentioned was super tiny. Breakfast was from 7-11, ate at 7:30 on a Sunday morning and there was plenty of food. I saw a worker replenish different items when they got low. They had scrambled eggs, sausage, waffle maker, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, toast and fresh fruits. The eating area was a bit small though; there were only 5 tables but you could just bring the food back to your room. read more

Pictures on line were not updated to the most recent quality of the room. The inner latch was broken, the toilet wouldn't stop making noises, the ac didn't work. The room smell of weed or cigarettes, it was not cleaned when we got there and we were told by management that the ac was working fine but they'd send some to look it over the never sent anyone. We called to get a refund and the hotel GM just laughed at us and refused despite the numerous issues and lack of security. One of the front desk clerks give my wife information on another couple who were at the hotel when given just the first name. read more

Other than being close to the Hyde Park attractions, there are not many positives to say about my stay here. After being rudely questioned by management staff upon arrival, and followed up the next night with a black out in the hotel for over an hour, I was happy to leave this establishment behind. When we arrived, Instead of introducing himself and kindly asking about our groups affiliation w the choice hotels chain, Sam the manager walked up to 4 women and aggressive questioned us about he rate we received. This along with the behavior of other women on the team who were openly staring at our group, was beyond the pale and extremely unprofessional. The next morning, following the blackout, we expected an explanation or acknowledgment of some kind from the staff. Nothing was announced or shared with the guests who sat in the dark w no AC or power for an extended period of time. Bottom line, Rooms are clean and amenities as promised. Overall the issue was poor management and customer service from start to finish..... needs improvement. read more

I stayed here for a friend's wedding a few weeks back for one night. I wasn't expecting much, and it was good to keep my expectations low. The front desk was attended by a gentleman who, while well-meaning, seemed to have very little grasp of actual policy - I could not get him to add the reservation to my Choice Rewards profile, and I never received a copy of my receipt for a stay at the hotel. The lobby is not terribly impressive, with the slim pickings left over for complimentary breakfast quite unappetizing - the sausage was the only thing that appeared mildly interesting to eat (it was okay but way too greasy). As for the room itself - I wanted one by the lobby on the first floor, and that is what I got. View into the parking lot meant shades drawn the whole time, and the ceiling in the entire place suggested that a renovation / cleaning has not been properly done in some time. The bathroom was alright, although I was not a fan of having to step up to a tub that was a bit elevated relative to the ground level. Shampoo / conditioner seemed pretty cheap and not of great quality. It's an excellent location if you want to go to the FDR library, which is just across the highway down the road a little bit (you can probably casually stroll there if you'd like), but aside from that, if you keep expectations low here, they are likely to be met. read more

Good for a quick overnight. I stayed here one night as I was in town doing some research at the FDR Library. My goal was a comfortable bed and clean room at an affordable price. That's what I got. Not a lot of bells and whistles here, but they have what you need. The Fitness 'Center' is really just a small 8' x 10' room with 4 pieces of poor fitness equipment and a water cooler. I was the only one in there, but cant imagine if I had to share the cramped space with others. They should really do something about that space. The free morning breakfast is your typical fare, so-so eggs, cereals, yogurt, etc. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your hotel, then this isn't the place for you. There are higher quality places in the area with far more amenities. But, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable place to sleep, then its just fine. read more

I booked a room with 2 double beds since it was $40 cheaper per night, and I'm glad I did. I would have been outraged paying $180 a night for a king bed in this hotel. The rooms are small and cramped, the AC stopped working the first night we were there (but was replaced quickly by staff once the problem was reported), the breakfast was good enough to satisfy hunger but the area was cramped with not enough tables for all guests to sit down at. The first morning, we had to wait for a table to open up (a member of the staff informed us they had trays so we could eat in our room, but who wanted to load everything up and eat at the cramped table in the room? (and we ended up having breakfast at the diner next door the 2nd day, which was fantastic), the floor of the bathroom was dirty, the shower curtain ripped, and overall, it felt like a cheap motel. It was not worth the price but was the best place available by the time I was looking to book, which is the only reason I booked it. it wasn't horrible but it certainly didn't meet my standards. It gave a very "no frills" feeling. read more

Diamond Choice member here with 94 nights so far for 2014. This place falls within the worst 5 category. The room while clean is simple but the lighting is poor. The internet dropped dead during my stay for about 30 minutes. Had to advise the front desk who seemed clueless. But by far the worst was the breakfast. The breakfast area is small; when I arrived there was no attendant and only limited items most everything was gone. Check out the photos attached. I took the last hard boiled egg; better check out the scrambled eggs and the sausages(if you can find them) next to them. Bread selection also wiped out. For people like me who want healthy items forget it. They had one apple left and served only Diet yogurt. Attitude at front desk... "Can't be bothered"... When I send a complaint hotel management replied that everything is fully stocked as my photos below clearly show. I know the hotel selection is limited in the area which allows them to operate under poor conditions like this. All I know is that for my next business stay in the area I shall stay elsewhere... I'd advise fellow travelers to do the same... :) P.S. This was a perfectly adequate place for the rate charged, and the area. The staff are generally friendly. I was here four nights, and can't report an egregious problem. The diagram on the shower was a little confusing, but a phone call to the front desk for an explanation sorted it quickly. The hotel's proximity to the FDR Library was a great plus for me. I didn't partake in the complementary breakfast, as the Eveready diner was closeby. There are great food options in and around the area, even if you don't drive like me. read more

I was lucky enough to book three rooms through Hotels.com at the Quality Inn in Hyde Park for the Marist graduation at a price that did not gouge for graduation week (as did too many other hotels). I confirmed the reservation the week prior to graduation. When I did a mapquest a few days before graduation, I panicked because it appeared that the hotel was an hour and a half away! When I called the front desk, the girl was very sweet and comforting and reassured me that the hotel was very close to Marist and no need to worry. So, I didn't. And, it really was right down the road! We arrived the day prior to graduation and the people at the front desk were very nice and VERY patient with the older people in my group. It is not a modern hotel, by any means, but the rooms were very clean. The maintenance staff was also very nice and accommodating - and always smiling. The Quality Inn is a perfect choice and I would definitely use it again! read more

Stayed there the other evening and the first room given to us was ground level dank and musty smelling. We asked for another room on the 2nd floor level. The 2nd floor room smelled of cigarettes and the window was left open to air out the nicotine smell. Later that evening, we smelled the whiff of weed which infiltrated our room. The next Morning, we had breakfast which consisted of a fake egg mix, but the coffee and bagel was great. They charged us for our room but didn't deduct the AAA membership discount even after we asked for it. They were very kind though. read more

Ok, they did respond to my second email about the points (which was not as nice as the first), and they said that they're crediting me, but the process takes forever (that's the airline's deal, not the hotels), so it'll be awhile before I know. 4 of us friends stayed here overnight one very hot July evening----their air-conditioning didn't work good towards 3am, but there was nothing to be done, as it's obviously too late. but they gave a discount for the roommate the next day. actually, it was fortunate we got a room here as it was a last-minute call that we made after finding out that our original room in another location totally had no air-conditioning at all---we just counted our blessings! all the others in the area were fully booked that weekend night. not a bad place to stay at all; just make sure you try to make earlier reservation before your trip......helpful staff, i have to add. read more

Friendly staff, small workout room, courtesy breakfast, cookies, coffee, lemon water available in the lobby. My room (upgraded to King Bed at no extra charge): Clean, spacious, comfortable bed/pillows, outdated wallpaper and carpet, minor dip in floor board, fridge, microwave, flat screen TV. If you're lugging around a lot of bags then request a room on the first floor as there is no elevator. The staff will accommodate if available. Overall good hotel for the price and location. So I ended up checking in around 4 in the morning after a long drive, this was the only place in the immediate area that was still checking in guests. The receptionist was very friendly, even at 4 in the AM, and immediately told me that he would discount the first night since I didn't really get to use it for the whole day. I was so thankful and exhausted. I did a quick check of the room for cleanliness and I was extremely impressed. There were no stains, no bugs, the room smelled fresh and the bathroom was of course well maintained and stocked well. There's a sign that says the staff will clean the rooms only once every 3 days but they must have forgot because they knocked on the door both mornings to replace the towels and sheets even though I barely had a chance to get them dirty. It was just nice knowing that I was being taken care of. Anyways, breakfast area is small so I wasn't expecting much there ether but to my surprise they had a waffle machine and a very filling and healthy selection of food. I thought I would have to go the diner across the street but they literally took care of all my basic needs. All in all maybe my stay was better because it seemed like a slow time for the area, but between the friendly night and day shift people, the observant maid-service, and the fantastic bargain I got for the two nights, I would definitely recommend this location to all travelers. Two things to note though, it took me about 15 minutes of playing with the bathtub to figure out that you need to pull the inner ring of the inside of the faucet to get the shower to work. And the next day I forgot about it and it took another 5 minutes to get it working again. I was too embarrassed to ask for help lol. Second thing, the TV was originally very blurry but I reached behind it and pushed the COAX cable in a bit further and that cleared everything up. They also give you access to HBO so that's kind of neat. read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! IT HAS THE WORST MANAGEMENT IN THE WORLD!!! THE MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED. We were booked for 2 nights and needed to move closer to Newark airport for an early flight. The staff at the front desk told us they would help us switch to another Quality Inn hotel near our destination if we waited until the manager arrived at 7 a.m. the next morning. We spent the night and at dawn the next morning, instead of helping us switch our reservation, the manager came to our room and laughed at us saying she would keep our money and that we would have to pay a full night's stay at the second Quality Inn hotel for the SAME NIGHT. She was rude, almost evil and should be fired. We are fighting this through the credit card company who said that they have never ever heard of such a bate and switch!!! read more

Pamela was amazing as was the rest of the staff! We had a hectic 24 hours ahead of us for our 1 day trip...and in between had car trouble and everyone was extremely understanding and accommodating! They did not push us on check-out so thank you so so much. The hotel itself was clean, we stayed in a suite which was exactly as described on website. Everything was clean! Booking was a breeze. No trouble checking in and using AAA discount! Continental breakfast was as described. Nice hot eggs/sausage waffle maker, danishes, bagels, assortment of breads toaster, fresh fruit, etc they offered Hot coffee and fresh chocolate chip cookies 24hr. Do NOT stay here!! All of my things in the shower (soap, razor, face wash) vanished after our first night there. I was with my fiancé all day and see no reason why he would have done something with them. I immediately thought housekeeping. My fiancé called the front desk and they told him that the maid didn't touch anything in the shower. I would like to know who removed my toiletries then? After an hour of whining and a trip to get new face wash and razors. Annoyed that I had to just so that I stopped at the desk when we got back. The lady who checked us in was very kind and I was glad to see her. When I asked if they had shown up she stated that no one entered our room. Um, if no one entered out room, then how did we get fresh towels and a made bed? I literally laughed. I told them I didn't understand how they could allow something like this to happen. She called a maid over and asked her if someone had taken something from our room. The random lady said no and walked away. Lady looked at me and told me to have a nice day!
