What a spectacular hotel! All of the rooms have kitchenettes complete with full-size refrigerators and microwaves and dishwashers. There's also a bar where you can sit and have a cocktail or a meal. Then there was a living room area with a beautiful desk and on the nightstands on the either side of the bed were charging outlets. There was also a vanity between the bedroom and the bathroom that had a modern steaming iron. Everything was completely updated and beautiful and clean. I thought it's strange that they charged $10 for parking. Where else could you park? This hotel is on a hill on a historic site and there's nowhere else you could put your car. Breakfast was included and had hot and cold foods and basically anything you could want. At night it appeared that the breakfast area turned into a restaurant and bar which I didn't partake in. However, I did get a small bottle of wine and some cookies out of the little store that they have. They also sell local jams and jellies and honeys and things which is quite nice. A lot of what they sell both in the store and in the room are from local producers. This is a great place for the price and if I were staying in the Hudson Valley for a few days, I would definitely go back.

Nice hotel with very spacious rooms! The staff here is extremely friendly and the property is really nice. The complimentary breakfast is awesome - very well stocked with everything. The bar and lobby area are great for hanging out and there are plenty of tables throughout. Gym is nice as well. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a hotel in this area.

After trying the Storyteller burger a few weeks back, we just had to come back. Hubby ordered the burger again but I tried the lemon chicken pasta dish and it was delicious. Washed it down with the hibiscus cider. Yummy!!!

Very nice hotel right across the street from the CIA so if you are planning to go there this is the place to be. Staff is so friendly, hotel is immaculate and rooms are incredible. We had breakfast a couple of times. It was ok. Typical hotel food. We also had a great time sitting at the bar in the evening. All of the bartenders were great and made us pretty much anything we wanted. We had a package that got us tickets to a few local wineries and tours. Makes the cost of the room a lot more reasonable. Mary was an awesome host and helped us get to all of our reservations. We did have a few bumps, but everything turned out good and we had a blast. We would definitely recommend this as a base for your winery tours but even more for visiting the CIA.

Brand new comfortable hotel! New hotel right across from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and it's beautiful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The amenities include complimentary breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, pastries, some hot items like sausage, coffee and tea. The lobby is beautifully furnished with a bar in the corner with social hours, there are small games like chess and tic tac toe in the lobby, and the exercise room is well stocked with bikes and treadmills. Service was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I needed some extra sheets during my stay and that request was received and addressed promptly. The grand opening was about a month ago and truth be told there is still some construction and landscaping ongoing so the sign t the hotel may not be very visible. There were also two fire alarms right after 6am during my stay which was not ideal, LOL. Having to step outside in the rain in my pjs was not great but growing pans are to be expected early on. I'd stay here again for sure when I visit again.

This is such a lovely hotel. I had a work trip up in northern New York and chose this place and I'm so glad I did. It is so lovely and everyone who works here is so friendly. The rooms are very nice and the bar area is very comfortable to sit in to have dinner. There is a small menu and several options to eat at near the hotel. The CIA (Culinary Art Institute) that is about a nine minute walk with options for lunch and dinner. I think there is also a bakery in there for breakfast. I had dinner at the bar and Matt was the server and was very nice. They have happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 which is a discount on drinks I am kind of bummed that I will not be coming back because I doubt I will be in this area again in the future. I highly recommend anyone needing a place to stay to check this place out!

This hotel is beautiful, location is perfect and staff are super welcoming and hospitable. Upon our check in, we were greeted by Christina and Rodrigo, who were so cordial and professional, providing us with information of all the hotel's amenities and all nearby landmarks.. We had an awesome stay, the hotel room was spacious, comfortable and clean. As I walked through the halls I was immediately drawn to the art pieces that decorate the walls. We were able to enjoy complimentary breakfast. This hotel offers a menu in the evenings along with pretty lobby bar. We enjoyed a few drinks at the bar, the bartender was friendly and knowledgeable of various Bourbons. I was able to visit the gym which is well equipped with state of the art equipment. Overall we had a fantastic stay and will definitely visit again. I must also mention that they have meeting rooms, which makes it a nice place to host a team meeting, networking event or celebration. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION, this hotel is across the road from the Culinary Institute of America, nearby is the home of Franklin D Roosevelt and Museum, as well as Vanderbilt Mansion. 1.5 hour drive from NYC!

A random road-trip stop at Shadows turned into one of the greatest dining experiences of our lives…read more We just wanted a solid meal with a river view after a long day on the highway. Instead, we found a culinary gem. The space is spectacular -- bright, open, and surrounded by relaxing river ambiance. We began our evening on the outdoor balcony, but a sudden thunderstorm dropped a tsunami of rain prompting a quick relocation into the equally welcoming main dining room. Our waiter, a charming young man from Hungary, gave us an excellent primer on the menu, which expertly balanced accessible staples with high-end luxury (creeping all the way up to an eye-popping $155 Wagyu steak special -- there were only 15 servings available for the night we later found out). As Port lovers, we were floored by the beverage options. Living outside of Philadelphia, we're used to restaurants offering one or two uninspired Tawnys. Shadows boasts an embarrassment of riches. Our waiter candidly confessed Port wasn't his forte and quickly dispatched the sommelier, Enrique. The fluid, passionate back-and-forth that followed was incredible; we learned more about wine in five minutes with Enrique than in decades of traveling. We gladly handed him the steering wheel for the rest of the night. Because we were celebrating my birthday, we went all in. My wife crossed caviar off her bucket list and tried the delectable octopus -- a substantial steak rather than the usual fried bits at most establishments. After some enabling from my wife, I went temporarily insane and ordered the Wagyu. As frequent diners, it was the priciest plate I've ever ordered, and it was worth every single penny. From the kitchen's flawless execution to exceptional hospitality that extended from the GM to the bus staff, the evening was perfect. Yes, we dropped a small fortune, but entirely by choice -- the menu accommodates nearly all budgets. We left feeling like we made out like bandits because the memories were priceless. Several times during dinner I literally felt envious of the locals. I hope they realize what a treasure they have in their midst.

The first thing you're stuck with at this restaurant are the beautiful views of the Hudson River…read more The setting is amazing whether you're sitting inside or out. I found mixed results with the food. The flatbread appetizer and cheesecake dessert was very good. I ordered steak as my entree and the server asked if I wanted it cooked rare, medium, or well done. I asked for medium rare and she said they couldn't do that. What kind of high end restaurant can't cook a steak medium rare? I found the cut I received to be way too overcooked. If you're looking for a place with a great view, stop by. Just don't order steak.

After walking through the busy bar you enter a spacious private room that includes a bar and personal music system. Pat, the event coordinator, was amazing every step of the way, very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. The personal wait staff for the party was great, always around and ready. What I was most pleased with was the food. People always remember the food from the party and the food provided from Mahoneys and their kitchen staff was great. The penne vodka was flavorful and creamy and the chicken Marsala complimented it well. The party was around 60 people and we had plenty of food, people went up for 2nd and 3rd and we still had leftovers. And did I mention affordable?? Like I said before, amazing experience definitely recommend for anyone throwing a small party, between the food, service and space they knocked it out.

I am always scared when ordering shrimp cocktail due to the fact some establishments use crap grade shrimp, well not this place, they were spectacular. I believe many of the chefs I read graduated from the Culinary Institute of America which is located extremely close to this restaurant, and this could be part of the reason why their food game is on point. My girlfriend got the beef stew, and they gave ample portions of meat with delicious gravy and the mashed potatoes were nothing to sneeze at either. I got a couple Jack and Diet's and the upcharge for a double is not that bad, at the time of writing this I believe it is a four-dollar upcharge. Also got a merlot and it was fresh and delightful. If I lived closer to this place, I would be here all the time. There are several colleges near here, so I assume the vibe is great as well if you are looking to come and have a good time. The train station literally shares there parking lot so if you plan on partaking in a good time with drinks and spirits it would be a good idea to just train it over. As always people SYOY, and if you live even remotely close to Mahoney's, visit often for me! Cheers!!

The chef is a soon to be CIA grad that is making the school proud. Chicken and waffles were done perfectly and the barbeque burger was seasoned in house. Would have preferred something besides celery with this, though, but the burger was really tasty. Definitely for the younger crowd, as is evident by their drink selection. But go for the food. And bring ear plugs.

Decided to check this place out for the first time last night. Walked in and in and first thoughts…read moreare "it's beautiful in here." There were people smoking hookah and just chillin. There are just a couple of things I would want the owner/management team to be mindful of. First, for a run and coke it's like $10.50 which price wise I think is a little high, but that's not what made me annoyed-the cup that my drink was handed to me in was the same cup I rinse my mouth out with at the dentists office. I've never seen such a small cup. Buffalo Wild Wings gives you a large glass for $8. So they definitely overcharge for the size of the drink. Second, I walked into the bathroom and there was a napkin floating in the toilet-ok, maybe someone dropped it accidentally. I sit down and all I smell is urine and come to find out, management must have decided that instead of going to the store quick and buying toilet paper, they'd put napkins in the women's bathroom and the women were using the napkins and throwing them in the garbage which was why the whole room smelled of urine. The toilet was clogged and almost overflowed. I told the guy who I assumed was the owner, and he said he knew and acted as if he didn't care. Probably because they were all high. Literally all they need to do is put a smaller trash can in that little bathroom, plunge the toilet so it works, ensure there's toilet paper and go to the dollar store to get some glassware for your bar. I get it's a new business, but spending $50 so you can have 50 glasses would create a better experience. If they can get it together, I'd consider going back.
