I had an initial visit today and had a great experience. He is a great healer. For your initial visit you get cupping and needles on both sides of your body as well as some scraping which is like a massage with a tool. I felt I got very thorough treatment for my back pain and autoimmune inflammatory arthritis for the cost of the initial visit. My back is feeling much better, I would love to come more and as often as was recommended but unfortunately he is out of network with my insurance and I wouldn't be able to afford coming every week. Today was my first appointment with Dr. Kang. I came in for chronic nausea and PMDD. The PMDD makes my life absolutely miserable and I have tried literally everything in the world. I'm not sure why it took me so long to write this review. I went into see Dr. Kang the summer of 2019. My hips were really bothering me and I was experiencing discomfort whenever I sat cross legged. I read his reviews online and they were all positive so I thought I would give it a try. It's almost 3 years later and all of my hip pain is gone. I can sit cross legged no problem and have increased mobility as well. The problem was not fixed in one or two sessions, I was there for several months. I've been going to Dr. Kang for about 4 years. He's very caring and has helped me immensely for various ailments. The first time I walked in I had an infected rash on my hand the size of a silver dollar. The dermatologist mis-diagnosed me and gave me a cream that made it 1000X worse. Dr. Kang immediately pulled into a treatment room with a concerned look on his face and went to work. When I left the rash was 50% better, less inflamed and looked totally different. Over the next few weeks it shrunk down and disappeared. After that I was convinced that he is LEGIT. He uses pulse and tongue diagnosis to asses my body's state. Everything he comments on reflects how I'm physically feeling whether I actually tell him or not. I've gone to him for severe back pain, UTI infections and issues with my stomach. Each time I leave feeling rejuvenated, less anxious and feeling better physically. I often have an emotional release during the sessions which always surprises me, but I know it's natural. I've read some other reviews complaining about his pricing which I find troubling. Dr. Kang in my opinion (though it's never been stated) probably offers prices on a sliding scale. I remember the first time I went there he asked about my work and some other details. Once he got an idea about me he gave me the prices which have been consistent and affordable for my financial status for the past 4 years. He once even gave me $100 herbs for my UTI issue without charging and told me to pay him back next time. I trust that he is doing the best for his patients and he absolutely cares about us all. I also read a complaint about him leaving during a session to answer the phone. This actually doesn't bother me at all. I'm grateful because many times I call at the last minute needing to see him because I'm in pain or stressed and he ALWAYS ANSWERS. I love that! I don't feel it reduces his attention or focus. I came in with right sided weakness. I couldn't run, surf, and my quad muscle would shake going down the stairs. By my second treatment strength came back into my leg. It's pretty phenomenal. I find Dr. Kang to be talented, brilliant, and highly intuitive. He is definitely the person that I go to when I have an imbalance in my body. He has helped me with my circulation; a pinched nerve in my neck; and a tightened muscle in my leg that was causing my left foot to swell. The pain was excruciating. PROS: Helped reduce swelling in right foot due to lymphedema. CONS: Listed as IN NETWORK, but makes you pay out of pocket. I didn't mind at first covering the cost, but when I was submitting for reimbursement I was assured by my medical provider that Dr's are contractually obligated to submit when there is a medical diagnosis. Was quoted over the phone 50 dollars only to pay 100 for acupuncture and a massage which I really didn't care for. Doctor also tried to have me take 100 dollars a week worth of herbs. What I truly am so upset about is the fact he told me that I had a serious problem with my health only to sell me his herbs. I have been Checked out by many doctors and this is just wrong. Doctor Kang is legit! I waited after several appointments to make this review to make sure I can provide an accurate assessment. I was 36 weeks pregnant with bad lower back pain. I was skeptical that Dr. Kang can help me as I had tried other methods like chiropractic services with no success. This was my first time I went to an acupuncturist and after several sessions, I no longer have sciatic back pain. Dr. Kang is very accommodating and does business honestly. He's straight to the point and doesnt try to upsell you nor drag on appointments just to try make $$. I was referred to Dr. Kang by a friend who went to him for acupuncture when she was past her baby's due date and was trying to induce labor naturally. She had a successful experience after 1 session! I had never done acupuncture before. My baby flipped to breech between 31-34 weeks, after being head down for months. So upon the recommendation of my OB, I decided to try acupuncture to hopefully help my baby flip back to the head down position. It's supposed to relax your uterus which allows the baby to naturally flip down. After about 5 sessions with Dr. Kang, it worked! My baby was back to the head down position and I couldn't be more thankful to Dr. Kang! I think the acupuncture helped and it is clear he is a master of his work! I had my first appointment with Dr. Kang today, so everything I say has to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt, but here goes... I have been experiencing some severe neck and back pain lately, in addition to a number of chronic health issues that have been flaring up. An attempt to remedy the problem yesterday with a rare massage (because I'm BROKE), resulted in the massage therapist shaking her head and flat-out saying "I can't fix this without six or seven hours." I went home feeling a bit better, but still in a significant amount of pain. So I started looking to acupuncture, a treatment I haven't tried in many years. Enter Yelp, and by extension, Dr. Kang. He was the first person I was able to actually reach on the phone who had a reasonable rate ($50 for a first session, minus whatever insurance would cover), and he could see me almost immediately. Plus, he was close by. His office is on the corner of Kester and Magnolia, across from the post office. As was previously mentioned, it doesn't look like much, but inside, definitely has the traditional Chinese medicine smell, a case and wall full of herbs, and a number of certifications and patient notes of thanks on the wall. Paperwork was easy--a basic medical history and a few release forms. The doctor then took me back to the treatment room, where soft Chinese flute music was playing. He had me change into a hospital gown and then proceeded with the examination. It was pretty astonishing, actually. He was able to identify problems that I hadn't even listed on my information sheets just from taking my pulse, etc. He then went to work on my neck/shoulder, managing to accomplish more in five (albeit painful) minutes than the massage therapist did in an hour. Afterward, he proceeded with the acupuncture...the needles on the sole of my foot were somewhat painful, but I knew it was working when I had the floaty, vaguely dizzy feeling that only decent acupuncture gives me. There are two reasons I didn't give Tui Na 5 stars. The first was the price of the herbal regiment that the doctor suggested: $400/month. It sounded high to me, but I wasn't well versed in herbal medicine prices, so I made some calls. It's pretty darn high, from what I've been told. I also asked if there were any alternatives he could suggest, but he said no. The second was the noise level of the patient in the other room while I was sitting with the needles in...it took all my self control not to laugh at the grunting, moaning, and whimpering coming through the open doors. It wasn't the doctor's fault, but it did make it hard to relax and let the acupuncture do its thing. Overall, the treatment, price ($20 after insurance), speed of service, and knowledge of the doctor were great. I feel much better than I did before I went in, and will definitely be back, but I'm not making any promises on the $400/month herbs. read more
