I've been going to Myo in Studio City for about 8 months to navigate and manage a chronic lower back situation I've been dealing with for about the past 10 years (spondylolisthesis. IYKYK). Generally, I have it under control, but when it flares, it flares. The PT exercises and other tools I typically used to manage it were no longer really helping. Enter Myo and Dr. Bahar Gord. Right from the first assessment, she was so attentive and really listened to my concerns. She watched my movement and honed in immediately on what was plaguing me and saw the full picture, not just the one issue. Dr Sharleen Mariano is a mobility recovery, muscle strengthening and pain release master. After being diagnosed by several reputable Beverly Hills/Los Angekes spine, ankle/foot and knee orthopedic surgeons with musculoskeletal and spine conditions that had little hope of improvement without surgery, I sought an optional nonsurgucal orthopedic and myofascial treatment intervention. After going absolutely nowhere with my HMO 15 min physical therapy sessions, I looked for an alternative physical therapy group that would spend quality time to get to the root of my issues and put together both an on hands therapeutic session at the clinic as well as develop a home/office exercise program. After exhaustive online searching I discovered Myo at Studio City. Dr Mariano, DPT, has skillfuly and miraculously used her on target diagnostic skills as a Doctor of Physical Therapy and physical therapy expertise and myofascial release to completely get me back walking and moving and avoided surgery. After more than a dozen sessions I had to find another PT. It's really surprising how many 5'star reviews are here and I'd normally assume they were all paid influencers (which the older ones might be), but part of my departure was just how forcibly they tried to get a review out of me. Everyone there is "nice." It's that you-maybe-accidentally-joined-a-cult kind of nice that left me ill at ease a bit too often. That's not really the point here, but worth mentioning. I was pretty clear up front that my biggest concern with PT is that a lot of people I know wind up far worse during the course of it and/or end up never finishing PT. And while I was assured that the goal was for them to put themselves out of business, it was only maybe 5 visits in that my issues got worse. Now, I'm a big fan of fascia and understanding it's role in the body, but to blame a shoulder flare up on working out the fascia on the other side of my body felt like a stretch (no pun intended). While I appreciate some of the practical exercises I was given, I can't say they worked long term. Every session I'd have "made progress" in one area only to have a new area of pain or discomfort. It just never ended. Also never ending was the sales pressure. Look, $215 a session is some insane rich people mess, and I understand that (in this location especially - next to an Erewhon with some $20 grapes) there are those who feel that's a fair price for the Bosu ball and barely there curtains separating you and the other client, but I wasn't one of the folks born in a money tree - so it was a little more than infuriating to be walked to the front desk after every session and told I needed to book more sessions right then and there. Pressure is gross, especially when it's coming from anyone in a capacity that's meant to be concerned with your health, but when you can kind of see the dollar signs coming out of their mouth it was especially frustrating. The same pressure was present with the review request - emails, calls, texts, in person- it just would not stop. So I stopped going. And ya know what? For a bunch of people who "cared" about my progress, I never heard from them about how I was feeling ever again. I did get more emails asking for a review and too many emails about a new website and just about anything that helped Myodetox make more money money. But my well being? Not so much. I did finally find a really great PT elsewhere that has been incredibly helpful and it's nice to leave feeling better instead of worse (and I don't miss the bruises). I don't miss the nightmare parking either - I mean, that's what's wild to me. $215 for one session and there's like ZERO awareness about how not worth that price it is and you have an absolute zoo for a parking lot (in my dozen or so visits I saw no less that 4 accidents). And God forbid a session starts late, which often they did, and you get stuck in the hellscape of scheduling pressure, and then you now have to pay for that awful parking situation because you were there for 91minutes. Mostly I'm disappointed in myself for going there as long as I did thinking it would get better. It's a very Insta vibes atmosphere and I'm sure that works for others just fine, but I'm thankful I now have the right exercises for my injuries to heal more effectively and get back to what I love doing faster. read more

I have been coming to Myo and seeing Dr. Sharleen for about a year and if I could leave her 10+ stars I would. I started coming for chronic lower back pain and from my first assessment she was already so attentive, listened to me, and immediately looking at the full picture rather than just a 'quick fix'. Ever since beginning my treacherous journey to become a decent Pickleball player, the one thing standing in my way (besides the skill needed to become good at Pickleball) was the constant pain I'd feel after playing for too long. Myodetox was originally recommended by my family doctor who came here for physiotherapy for the same reason as me: injuries from a car accident. My doctor only had high praise for Myodetox, so I decided to give it try it. When I arrived, it was kind of an emergency. I had difficulty walking and had pain all over the left side of my body (from my neck to my calf). So, I made an appointment with the first available practitioner, Dr. Fadi Abu-Awwad. I've been coming to this location of Myodetox since October 2024 being helped by Ezekiel Palmani. I run marathons and train about 6 days a week. I've had plantar fasciitis, hip pain, and calf issues. I'm a huge fan of my experience at Myodetox. I've had straight up concrete for shoulder for as long as I can remember (computers and phones don't help either), I've had some lower back pain, and tight calves/achilles tendons. My monthly visits to Myodetox with Dr. Jelena Bilog have saved me. My first session definitely was painful because I haven't had that deep of a concentrated massage before. Where to begin? I work on film sets across the country. Sounds cushy - not really. High stress environments, often exposed to the elements and very physically demanding. 12-14 hour days is the norm when shooting. Of course, because of this, I always made time to exercise so as to make the job easier. 4am club anyone? Biggest problem with all of this is I never prioritized warmups, cooldowns, or recovery. One day after an unexpected hiatus I woke up and had lost most mobility in my shoulder and the ability to flex my tricep. Didn't think much of it except minor inconvenience... typical man logic. It'll fix itself I thought. Nope. It got worse. And my muscles began to atrophy due to a lack of significant use. Then the pain started. Things you take for granted like the ability to get dressed, comb your hair, or put on a jacket. All this became exceedingly painful and the "minor inconvenience" turned into a big effin problem. This started to affect my performance at work and even worse, my emotional state. Am I broken? I spend a lot of time in Los Angeles, though I don't live here. So no primary care Doc. Urgent care it is. Of course, as I suspected, they offered me some pills for pain management and suggested maybe an ultrasound of the arm. No meaningful results were achieved. Went to another doc. This time one that performed an X-ray of my neck and surrounding areas and then suggested a visit to a sports medicine specialist... oh and more pills. Went to the specialist... you guessed it, more pills. "Not those, take these instead". "Do a little hot/cold therapy and these 'cookie cutter' exercises i pulled off google and you'll be ok. Oh but also let's do an MRI". Results came back. He was super dismissive. "There's a slight narrowing in your formial canal - bla bla bla - that's PROBABLY where your pain is coming from. Do some PT and you should be fine" ... thanks. Enter Myodetox. I showed up one Sunday after church on a whim. A friend had mentioned it as a place he's heard of, though never visited himself. At this point I'd already tried everything else so why not just give it a shot. First person I met upon walking in was Dr Jelena. At this point I felt defeated, frustrated, broken, and kind of just over explaining myself and repeating the same tired story over and over. But I did it anyway. I opened my mouth and just spit out the same overly rehearsed and clearly overly performed speech. She listened to every word - something not usual with most Drs. She informed me they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate a walk in but invited me to make an appt. My frustration peaked and I basically asked her to just grab my arm and feel if there's something out of the ordinary and if it was worth making the appointment. She did and sure enough something didn't feel right. I made the appointment that day for the next available opening. Needless to say I chose her as my caregiver (mostly cause I didn't want to have to explain myself again to someone else), but because she actually showed concern for my wellbeing and a genuine interest in me getting better. October 8th, 2024 was my first appt. An evaluation. What followed for the next 8 weeks was a challenge. Both for me and her. An exploration and then a proper diagnosis and treatment of all my symptoms. My range of motion in my arm has returned 100%. My pain has subsided over 90%. My mood and self-esteem are back and best of all I made a lifelong friend in the process that was invested in my wellbeing. I'd call that a win! I have been going to Myodetox for over a year. I started going after a car accident to heal from some injuries. It was my first lengthy experience with physical therapy and after I started - I've become a physical therapy evangelist. I truly think everyone should be getting physical therapy on the regular, not just for injuries but general maintenance. Working with Sharleen has been so so helpful, I have seen such a difference in my body and movement since seeing her. She is very attentive and great at figuring out what little tweaks your body needs to start moving properly. I've been going to Myo Studio City for over 6 months now after suffering from some neck and shoulder pain for the better part of a year prior. I tried addressing it with massages, acupuncture and cupping but nothing really worked in the way that I had hoped. I decided to give Myo a shot and was paired up with Dr. Ryan Jang. One of my biggest concerns off the start was feeling like I had to commit to a long term rehab plan that required a decent budget without fully feeling like my symptoms were being addressed or tackled appropriately. In our first session, Dr. Jang brought that concern up and outlined a clear plan forward. Within the first two sessions I already noticed a big decline in my pain points and fully leaned into trusting the good Doc in whatever work was required of me. Every session has been a great experience, the whole staff is friendly, and Ryan has always tailored our sessions to my needs. He's able to answer all of my questions in a clear way and also adjust how he describes new techniques to the way I like to understand my body. When I started working with Dr. Sharleen my shoulder was in a lot of pain and I was having back pain and chronic issues with my feet that made everyday activities difficult, let alone participation in my favorite activities. With every session at Myodetox, Dr. Ezekiel has been successfully removing fascia buildup causing my limited movement developed throughout my years of playing competitive badminton. Before, I had many chronic injuries including those involving rotator cuff, hip alignment, and knee locking. Not many physicians knew how to handle badminton-related injuries due to its unpopularity. Dr. Ezekiel, however, managed to help me recover surprisingly fast with a handful of sessions. He is very patient and willing to learn about the mechanics of the unpopular sport, so he can better meet my needs of performing at a high-level again. He literally watched videos to understand the movements that are demanded from the sport. He is also bright and articulates well while explaining what is causing restrictions in my body through diagrams and analogies. Most importantly, I appreciate that he provides emails reminding me the significant cues of each home exercise. Overall, Dr. Ezekiel is an outstanding physiotherapist that I never knew I needed. I have been working with Sharleen at Myodetox for three months now on fixing recurring plantar fasciitis in my feet and Costochondritis in my ribs. I have struggled with these problems for years and tried other PTs to no avail. Within three months of working with Sharleen both problems have disappeared and I understand what to do in order to make sure they don't return.
