There were a fair number of people there, but my impression was that they were there to enjoy the space. The scenery was gorgerous. I uplaoded some pictures of the sceneary around the campground. The camp sights are surrounded by tall trees, and there are washrooms and free firewood available. The campground was a little over $20 a night and you are able to pay by credit card, which was convenient.

Free, kind of hidden campground!…read more This campground rocks - directly on the water and off the main roads. You have to cross a loggers bridge to get to the sight. Everyone seems to take really good care of the place as there is no trash lying around. At the end of the seasons (mid/end of September) some reviews say that there should be salmons up here for their last stop. We haven't seen any at the beginning of September, but still nice stop to camp for a night.

The other ones are Jasper, Kootenay and Banff National Parks. Yoho is an interesting name for a National Park and comes from the Cree language. It means "awe and wonder". After a stop at Lake Louise and Moraine, we ended up finishing our day at Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. One of the things that I enjoyed about this park and lake was that it was less crowded than Banff and the other two popular lakes. I ended up walking the nature trail around beautiful deep-green Emerald Lake. I enjoyed the views and came across a plaque about the fossil-bearing deposits of the Burgess Shale in the area. Sadly, Emerald Lake was the only area of Yoho National Park that I was able to explore. Hopefully I am able to see other areas like Takakkaw and Wapta Falls, Lake O'Hara and the Natural Bridge next trip.

We stayed at a timeshare in Radium Hot Springs, which was a perfect central location for exploring all three! Yoho was less busy than Banff and Kootenay, which we appreciated after almost a week of crowded stops. Our drive up to Golden was gorgeous in the Fall. We then headed over to Field, to visit Takakkaw Falls and Emerald Lake. Both were gorgeous! We even had lunch at The Emerald Lake Lodge during our visit. You can rent canoes on Emerald Lake. It's cheaper and less crowded than the more popular Lake Louise in Banff National Park. We also stopped to visit Natural Bridge. The glacial blue water was absolutely beautiful. My husband enjoyed the Spiral Tunnels stop more than I did. He found all the placards interesting. It would have been cool to see a train enter or exit the tunnel, but it didn't happen during our visit. Overall, we enjoyed our time here. It was much more relaxing than the busier ones. Don't sell this national park short. If you have extra time, it's definitely worth a visit!

They were filled up so we simply did some simple car camping. Our site was not very private, in fact it felt to the lone motorcyclist camper and us that we were sharing a site but it worked out fine as we were all weary travelers just looking to sleep. The facilities were as expected except only one shower worked in the washroom and there was no hot water . There is a little shop for camping and swimming essentials and limited convenience store style foods. There are no stores nearby. The use of the pools are not included nor discounted and they are shared with public guests. That was fine though. The woman at the desk was a bit less there to please and moreso trying to upsell ( trying to push a pricier full day pass for pool at 7pm knowing full well i couldn't use it more than once. Its a resort amenity ( the only one except restrooms and a few picnic tables ) A simple soak in the pool really should be included in the resort camping price. Note that all gates are closed at night and reopened in the am except for one in the back of the property, No one mentioned this so when i needed to leave early, i felt i was locked in. Overall, Its a nice stop, It is well monitored and maintained.

This is our second year at Williamson Lake. The amenities here are very good, lake is pretty,…read morecampground clean and close to many things to do. However; our experience this time around was frightening due to a new Manager on site. We were a family with 5 sites booked for a family reunion. On Saturday at 9:50pm we were asked to turn our radio off by 10pm. We did turn off the radio and continued to chat around the campfire while some played a card game at the picnic table. There was the odd "cheer" when someone won but otherwise a very quiet, normal evening. There was no constant hooting and hollering, no excessive drinking and no music. At 10:30pm we were approached by Colin (Manager/Security Guard) who said to us "What's it going to take"? Many of us were confused by his question and asked him what he meant? Again Colin said "what's it going to take?" He quickly got irritated when all of us were asking him "what the problem was"? And then he said "you know what I mean, the next person that has to come by here will have a gun!" We were all so shocked... some of us very frightened and looking over our backs walking back to our sites at 11pm and again the next evening. The following day we addressed our concerns with the owner Lisa, she was more concerned that her employee was having a bad night than for our safety. Apparently, Colin had a stalker (unknown women) and the RCMP had to be called in to remove her. After returning home a few of us addressed the problem again with letters to Lisa asking her how she was handling this situation. But unfortunately Lisa only addressed the fact that we were too large a group for her campsite (which was odd because she knew we were all there together for a family reunion more than 5 months in advance) In hindsight this incident should have been reported to RCMP. And because the owner of this campsite has been unwilling to address the severity of a threat from her employee we felt it would be best to make an honest post to warn others and keep people safe.
