I was there Thursday afternoon about a half hour before closing and wanted to buy an ornamental wall hanging we agreed on a price and I wanted to pay for it and she says pay for it when you pick it up and I said I'll pick it up in a day or two went back on Monday morning, and she said the item had already been sold. I even talked to the manager on Thursday and she said she was gonna put a sold sign on it. I think they found someone to pay more for it or some kind of shenanigans are going on there. I would not recommend the store to anyone since they can't be trusted. It's sad that you pretend to be volunteers and then only looking out for yourself. I think it was the new manager's fault Jennifer, who made the mistake or whatever went on. read more

I'm currently sitting outside this place as my wife takes her turn inside and I watch the dogs. I just spent a good 15 minutes walking through here and it's such a charming little thrift shop that I just had to write a review for it. The main floor here is large and absolutely packed with all the books, movies, blankets, and odds and ends you could ask for as well as a super cool outside area out back with some tools and other random odds and ends. Overall, this is a cool little thrift store in the absolute middle of nowhere. I've never heard of Running Springs before but this shop had charm and small town vibes that are nice to see when escaping the city. read more

The store used to be much better when there were multiple volunteers who were friendly and priced the donations fairly. Now, pricing looks like a shop where the owners pay for their collectibles and such. It's over crowded and disorganized. I Want the old store back. Merchandise is well displayed, however the prices are high for a thrift store. I used to shop there often and prices were fair and often lower than any other local thrift stores. Went recently to buy some glasses to paint on for gifts. Glasses and cups all seemed to have a $2 tag. Ended up buying a set of 4 glasses any way because it was local ( I try to give my business to locals) When I got home I discovered on of the glasses was chipped. I can get 4 wine glasses as Walmart for as low as $2.50 each. As walked through the store it appeared that the prices have really increased. They need to take a closer look at how items are priced. read more

My friends and I had the best experience at Golden Oaks today. Dave was the highlight of our shopping and we would come back just because of him. Sure, the place has a slight chaotic vibe about it, but that's what thrift stores are. We found some great jackets and a book at beyond reasonable prices. I love coming here. The volunteers that work here are really kind and give as much help as they can. I did not have a single Christmas decoration when I moved up here so I thought I would peruse their selection and they had TONS of decorations, wrapping paper, ornaments, lights, stockings, etcetc. I got nearly everything I needed plus some gifts (like a cool beer stein for my dad lol). The best part was how inexpensive it all was, maybe 50cents to two bucks for each item I purchased (to be fair, it was mostly small stuff since I have a small place) but it was a great deal for the number of items I purchased. Will absolutely come here for all my home good needs before trying to buy something brand new (and more expensive)! Things to note - they don't take furniture and they can only take stuff during their normal business hours. The place is packed with stuff already so they may only take things that they think can sell. read more

Great thrift shop. Lots of things to choose from. Easy parking in front. Very reasonable prices. The people working there are always friendly and helpful. Books are a great price here too. You can really find anything, depending on what people donate. I've seen fish tanks, sewing supplies, printers, lots of clothing and kids toys and games, home decor, houseware, kitchen appliances, electronics etc. They also have an outdoor section in the back of the store outside that is open sometimes I guess depending on the weather. read more

I've been to countless thrift stores and usually am put off by one thing about them. Generic items, nasty store atmosphere, overpriced merch, and overall lack of good finds. This store is one of the first thrift stores I've been to that not only succeeded in having great items but succeeded in those items being unique and insanely well priced. The store is nice and pretty sizable, lots of stuff to look at but you REALLY have to look hard and ask the owner if you have questions about items tucked away (especially the ones under the register, those are baller). I got some sweet orange shades, a blue corduroy hat, and a vintage 80s label maker for... wait for it... only 2 dollars TOTAL! Yelp 100 challenge 47/100 Golden Oaks thrift store is in the heart of running springs enterance and my moms fav location to stop and donate. This location is run by volunteers and has a variety of knicknacks, household stuff, electronics, clothes, shoes, ski and camping gear. Its really cheap and a fun place to stop. There are antiques and something unique for everyone. Donations are welcome and they will provide tax reciepts for write offs. read more

Pros: very good prices. The prices are much more affordable than Salvation Army or goodwill. I bought 5 tops here for 10$ which comes out to 2$ a piece. They have a TON of stuff, you could truly find anything here. The "staff" (which I believe are volunteers) are a bit hit or miss. Sometimes they're nice, sometimes not so much. Cons: it's a very very crowded space. It's kind of hard to get around in this store & if you're claustrophobic, this is not the place for you. It's a bit unorganized. The upstairs section of this store very hot in the summer. I don't know if it's because they don't have AC or they're AC just isn't very good. Overall I'm still going to be shopping at this thrift store. read more

Our family loves this place. We regularly donate things that still have life left in them. It's great to pass the value that is left in many items on to someone else. Everyone benefits! We hate to see things that still have value ending up in the landfill. This shop preforms a vital community service. Having lived in Big Bear a few seasons, we have visited this thrift shop very many times in passing. It's helped teach our daughter the value of thrifting items and also the value of donating things you no longer need so that others might benefit. I can't stress how valuable this little shop is to the community. It was sad to hear of Red's passing, he was our favorite senior volunteer. We are thankful for the folks that continue to operate Golden Oaks. They are both a blessing and an irreplaceable resource to their little mountain town. See you soon! read more

Visited this place on 7-28-19 mid day from out of town. SERVICE DOGS BE WARY!! Was told to pick up my medical service dog because a toddler wanted to pet him. I told the worker I would not pick him up. She argued with me about it. Going to start this with the toddler's Mother saying "No, she is not picking him up. I will carry my son." I started to leave and the Grandmother blocked me saying to stay. The worker then lost it, majorly lost it. My young granddaughter and I then made our way to leave. The worker berated me as I tried leaving....she followed me down the top stairs never taking a breath to the outside steps. I argued the rights of service dogs and she then said "Sue me. I don't care." We exchanged a few more remarks about laws and I told her she was rude. My husband was still inside when I called to let him know I was outside with our Granddaughter. About that time he came out with the Grandmother of the toddler, she was talking to him. She told us that she works in Special Education and knew service animal laws very well. She told me the woman continued to just berate me, just wouldn't stop. The woman told the worker she was in the wrong and hopefully they (me) doesn't make a complaint. Her answer...."What are they going to do, fire me? I am a volunteer." Crazy. On a positive note, the breakfast at Old Country Coffee House close to this place has crazy good food!! Massive portions! Expect a wait, only six tables and seats along a bar. Totally worth it! read more

I can't even begin to mention everything I've gotten here the last few years, but it has saved me a trip down the hill on multiple occasions. Visited this place on my local thrift shop round up. Big space with A LOT of merchandise. Their focus is definitely not on clothing, but they have a lot of housewares and books and I feel like power cords were hanging everywhere. They seem overwhelmed by the amount of the inventory they have and keeping up with unpacking and displaying everything, place is definitely packed. My daughter found a men's denim shirt, I got two Johnny Mathis records (both two pack sets), a strainer, can opener and BBQ tongues plus a game of Uno (shockingly complete with all cards), all for a bargain price of only $7. I would have probably snagged a few wine glasses, but couldn't find a matching pair that I liked and I want to pretend like I have someone to drink wine with and refuse to buy a single glass, which is really all I need. Found a box with like 6 little candles and two other things, thought the total maybe 5 bits she wanted 10$ for a box of half lit fucking candles and a little snowman candle. I have found several items here before that were a steal. Just got a nice pair of women's boots, have also found a top that was in style and fashionable for a good price. In addition I have got a couple wine glasses there before and they are always getting in new things. HORRIBLY rude staff. I will never return. I was actually warned about the staff before going by a few people, and it was all true. And then I checked some of the other reviews and clearly this place has big issues. Whether the staff is volunteer or not, they lack all social graces. Avoid at all costs!! I also went to purchase a cardigan and the back of the garment was snagged, so I mentioned it while she was estimating the cost, and she rudely said, 'oh what a shock. It's a thrift store.' Then she threatened to call the sheriff bc our dogs were in the car -- with my fiancé, with the windows down on a 60 degree day.
