The staff here is pretty nice. A lot of items are reasonably priced. They're under new management and have really cleaned things up. They take cards payments now. Unfortunately, the new management now has items priced super high. Some coats have been there for weeks, a London Fog that I have seen there for over a month is priced with a sticker that says $75 and retails for $225. Like, so what?!?! You got it donated for free. I do like that they have a small pantry of free food and children's jackets for $3. They even have some free items for kids. Overall, a good thrift store that is nicely organized and most items reasonably better priced than the one up the road. read more

I went to purchase an item, it was a kit that had glass tubes you can fill with glitter to make necklaces. A lady was going to ring it up when this other lady grabs the item. Opens the bag they were in & tells me they don't sell it like that. She then told me .25 cents for each little bottle. Mind you the chain that makes them is one long piece. So selling each bottle you can't get any chain. Then she proceeds to pour them out in a basket so ruining the kit. I knew the second she grabbed the item she was not going to make it so I would want it. This is the 2nd time she has done this to me. NEVER going back unless she is not there! read more

Not much here. The lady at front wasn't real friendly. She was busy doing stock working everything didn't really have a whole lot. They didn't have good record player CDs but they're all mixed up so it's really hard to find out what they have. I found a clock radio from the 70s that I liked back in then. The staff was not very friendly. I will not go back to this one. read more

I had high hopes that my second visit to this store would be a better experience, but....it really needs a good " going thru" to be honest. There's ALOT of items packed into this potentially wonderful place, but it's so packed. The location is ideal, plenty of parking are both plus'. If it is one thing and one thing alone, it's always an adventure. Come prepared to really dig through stuff. It's very reasonable in MOST cases. I've found some interesting items for very low prices and some real junky items at a high price. It's kinda all over the place with pricing. All helpers are volunteers and unlike some reviewers, I cannot say anyone has been terribly rude to me or unkind. Like most human encounters, treat people well, and 9/10 of the time you get the same in return. I like chatting with other shoppers and helpers alike. I have donated things here and I think it's a worthy charity. Lots of seniors up here and many need some hand-outs. Happy treasure hunting! read more

Hidden gem with great prices! However, they don't have much inventory. But I found a beautiful red Kenneth Cole jacket for only $10! This is a great spot to stop by if you want to buy last minute clothes for your Big Bear or something trip. read more

Terrible experience and very rude lady. I visited 4 other thrift stores in big bear and this was by far the worst. Cash only which can be inconvenient especially when trying to prevent dealing with physical money. Their prices are listed so low they try to change them at the register! I was buying a child winter coat which are advertised in multiple places as being only $5. At the register a very rude lady tried to charge me $10. She then claimed all kids winter coats were $5 and up and when the pieces of paper CLEARLY say $5 as compared to adults coats being listed as $10 and up. ( I've attached a picture of their prices). She sold it to me for $6 but absolute ridiculous to falsely advertise prices. On top of that, staff was not wearing masks when they clearly have multiple mandatory masks signs on their doors. read more

Some things are priced great. But most things aren't priced at all so when you go to ask for the price they make it up and sometimes aren't even fair prices. I walked in the other day and as soon as I had only one foot in the door the lady working there shouted to me "hand sanitizer is there!" I saw a chair outside that I wanted to purchase so I took a picture of it and showed the lady it to find out a price, she looked at me then said $20 rudely. The pricing there doesn't make sense to me. This place is a mess. Lack of organization and cleanliness yet we get shouted at to use sanitizer?! If you're looking to find good deals on second hand items with cleanliness, great organization and nice customer service, you should head down the road to DOVES. Best thrift store on the mountain. Horrible mean blonde old lady who works here yelled at my 5 year old for touching an old broom stick, because we shouldn't be touching things in the store because of Covid??? So tell me how you are supposed to browse through their (unorganized) items if you can't touch anything? She made a huge scene to the point where other customers around us told her she was being rude! But that's not all, she kept following us around and wouldn't let it go. I finally told my son to go wait in the car with daddy and she followed him out! When finally I went to check out, I told her I would need to walk to my car and get cash from my husband who was waiting outside because I only had my debit card (I had only seen the CASH ONLY sign once I got to the register) She then RUDELY told me she couldn't hear me because she only reads lips!!! So taking off my mask so she could read my lips is ok but my 5 year old touching a broomstick is not (oh, and I guess I was supposed to have the psychic capabilities to know she's a lip reader). She then told me she would refuse to cash me out for pointing out "you want me to take off my mask so you can read my lips but it's ok for you to yell at my son for touching a broom & spreading Covid"? Mixed feelings - not especially helpful unless it suits them. The reason they have good prices is because people donate things. They came and picked up 17 boxes of things I got rid of from the rental property we bought to live in. When we moved our furniture in, I wanted to get them to pick up a beautiful sleeper sectional couch which I'm sure they would have been able to sell quickly for good money. Instead, the manager said they wouldn't be bothered to come out for one thing. I tried to indicate what a nice piece it was, but no go. I will never donate one more thing to this store (& I still have more nice things to give away). read more

No joke, has a special seat facing the door where she sits and screams at people for not putting on hand sanitizer as the customers come through the door. A mean old lady runs this place. She doesn't greet customers as they enter the building, nor is she helpful when you ask questions about prices, condition, etc. She's very rude to customers and appears to badger the other volunteers that help run the place. For example, a young lady came in the store to donate some items. The old lady snapped at this gal saying "don't bring any more stuff here." The old lady said that all thrift stores in Big Bear have been warned that they cannot accept any more items. Baloney! Doves Nest (another, BETTER, thrift store in Big Bear) heard of no such thing! Sounds like the old lady doesn't want to process new stuff for the store. The facility itself is clean, neat, organized well. The prices are fair. Selection is good. This quaint shop has lots of good bargains! Skis, gloves, ski bibs, snow apparel, household items, art and more. Excellent place to buy a supply of books. Had some great deals. Chatted with fellow at front desk, all folks that work there are volunteers. The proceeds go to help local seniors, medic alert, meals on wheels and the senior center in town. This is an excellent thrift store with dedicated volunteers. The prices and very reasonable and the donations seem to be pretty good for the area. We bought snow clothes, towels and a great heater there. Plenty of parking and nice employees. We will b back next time. read more

I love this place. I have something in each room that came from this store. In my kitchen, two beautifully vintage cutting boards, a hand embroidered wall piece in my bedroom, countless mugs in my cupboards, a basket in my laundry room. Greeted by staff right away. From what I was told they were previously located in the front building but moved to the back building. Parking was easy. The shop was set up in sections but I didn't quite understand the set up with the back room. You exit through the back door, which was covered with tarp and voila another section. That houses most of the kid's toys. Toys should be in the main section. Especially, for moms that are shopping with their kids. Kid see, kid play, kid throw tantrum and mom buy! I wanted to re-organize, re-display the whole shop. If they would let me I would have supervise that change. Maybe the set up was due to the move/remodeling. They do have very nice items that just needed to be showcase. There was a huge selection of gently used snow boarding, snow clothes and ski -wear. If you are hitting the "Fierce White" and forgot your snow pants, check them out. For all you thrifty fashionista VINTAGE BEDAZZLE and SEQUIN dresses. To bad they were not my sized. They had some very unique pieces. The price will not disappoint you. What I purchased for under $30: 1980's jacket, BRAND NEW leather cowboy boots ($20), vintage cross body purse (super clean and looks like it was never used), leather belt, 1970's high waist shorts and leather bracelet. Not to bad for my next music festival outfit. Overall review- this place is great, staff super friendly and benefit senior citizens. I want to give them 4 stars but they have a bit of cleaning to do. Marion, one of the ladies who works there, is so sweet. Some of the items were not priced, and when I asked her how much, she gave me a great deal. I bought a Starbucks cup and saucer with a vintage print, for $2, and a wool coat from Ireland with beautiful embroidery for $4. The place has a lot of stuff. The front part of the store clean, considering the old building, but the back half (detached building) was not so clean or organized.
