One of the first things you see when you walk in is a bedazzled and Louis Vuitton draped elk skull- I'm not against euro'd skulls or wearing fur but this felt disrespectful. My girlfriend and I were immediately sized up by the two women working, and they kept an eye on us the whole time. As if we would be interested in stealing any of their gaudy merchandise. Like the other reviews say, you would think they would keep things locked away if they were so concerned about theft. Ultimately, the fact that the store was empty besides us while every other store was fairly packed says enough. If an abundance of fur coats and overly bedazzled jewelry and purses are your thing, then you'll probably like it. If not, I wouldn't recommend. read more

After reading the bad reviews here I was going to skip this place on our trip last weekend. However my girlfriend wandered in and I followed with our small doggie. I was welcomed by the very friendly and helpful Lydia! We had a great chat and she was able to answer all our questions and recommend some things for my GF AND MYSELF. Even though neither of us are into bedazzled bling, my gf got a rad pair of leather feather earrings and almost fit into a sweet pair of thigh high boots, and I was excited about the selection of mens rings! I am seriously shocked that this place doesn't have 4-5 star rating! I absolutely loved the staff and the store! I can't speak on behalf of other reviewers, however taking extra precautions for shoplifting, as a business owner myself, does not bother me. After speaking to one of the employees, I found out that the owner at hand makes about 90% of the jewelry herself. The store Is also a lot more "upscale" with jewelry, furs, faux furs, gody gifts and etc. I can see a business owner taking the extra precaution, I would have. Since I live in Laguna Beach, I can understand the art culture and love the fact that it's a local business and that everything is handmade. Who knows, maybe she's had a bad experience. As for the other comments about the perception of style, fine. But if it's not your style, move on to the next store. No need to leave a bad review just because it doesn't fit your expectations... As for my experience, Laura was absolutely amazing!!!!!!! Not only did we spend about $200, that we were not intending to spend, but she was friendly, infectious, knowledgeable, and helpful! She introduced us to a bunch of her products, and was telling us a little bit about the background of the store, owner, etc. I absolutely loved it!!! As we Paid for our items and were about to leave, we Told her that we may want to come back in the morning to possibly come back for one more item. (We we're unsure if we wanted to buy the item Or not as a gift.) She told us that the store was closed on Monday and Tuesday, BUT she gave us her personal cell phone number to tell us that she'd be more than willing to come in the morning for us!!!! Today while shopping in Big Bear I came across this store. I fell in love with the jewelry but was put off by the fur. The woman who worked in the store made a comment about animal activist putting people like them out of business after I mentioned I don't wear leather or fur. She even asked me what my stearing wheel was made of and I ignored her until she brought up that the bible said it was ok to wear fur. I asked her if stoning and murder were ok because the bible talks about this as well. I told her the animals are skinned alive and all she could say was that she liked fur and she rescues dogs. Good for her. This is one person who will NEVER be back. read more

I had a bad feeling about this store as soon as I saw the heaps of bejeweled skulls that lined the window. DISCLAIMER: I have nothing against skulls. In fact, I even own one. There was something about the window display that initially piqued my interest, yet caused me to immediately recoil. Naturally, I needed to find out why, and so I proceeded inside. Pieces of sparkling jewelry are strewn everywhere inside. They're displayed on tables, mannequins, bureaus, benches, and they're left out in the open. They're not locked away in display cases. This decision has clearly created an element of distrust with the store owner, who sizes up each patron to walk through the threshold, and proceeds to watch and treat them like they're about to commit theft. But that's just the cherry on top: there are handwritten signs EVERYWHERE with some variation of, "smile! you're on camera!" "shoplifters will be prosecuted to the fullest extent" "we are watching you" etc. If there's a serious shoplifting problem, you'd think the shop would enforce stricter measures than a sign made by someone with good penmanship. That way, we wouldn't have to feel like escaped inmates and might be able to focus on the garish merchandise. read more

I wish I could give Le Mule zero stars. I am staying in big bear for the first time this weekend and was having a pretty good time until an incident in this store. I found this little shop with antique pieces and I was so excited to check it out. My experience was quite enjoyable until I went over to a mirror and I was taking a picture of JUST myself, no background. The greyhound old lady came over and yelled at my friend and I accusing us of taking pictures of diamonds in the store. We were in the way back with the fur coats and the diamonds were in the front. We hadn't even looked at them yet. She proceeded to tell me that I needed to ask before taking pictures in general. I know the law and I'm not one to violate it. Very disappointed and trip ruined. Kind of a weird shop to have in Big Bear. Most of the clothing is bejeweled or has some form of a skull or cross on it. If I had to describe it in three words I'd have to go with "tacky biker chic". The little written note cards placed on the display tables remind you of their security cameras. I probably spent a whole minute perusing the store before turning around and leaving. But that didn't keep one of the women working there from not-so-discreetly following me around the entire time. Take a chill pill, Le Muse. They're bejeweled tanks and handbags. read more

I absolutely Love this store. Everything..well almost everything is super cool and pretty. I wish I took a pictures...kicking myself. Some things are wierd but cool at the same time. Like for instance the gun or skull purses. The dancing pandas in there front window is cute. The kids in the store loved it. The people that work are super nice and friendly. They welcome u and tell you about the sales they have right away. But they are super expensive keep that in mind when you shop there. It maybe 20% off but it's still too pricey for me. :( Maybe I'll be able to win the lottery and will be back. :) read more

Great stuff. I do not understand the rude ratings. I was greated, allowed to roam by myself. Never did I feel bad about being on camera, if I was. I showed interest in some coats, she helped me try them on. Sadly they did not work for what I was looking for, but I'll be back. Please note people.. if you cannot touch the merchandise, you will never buy it! But there is a theft issue in general in Big Bear, thus camera's. Great store! read more
