I received excellent assistance and care throughout from the front desk, to checking in, to the actual procedure from Dr. Dang and the young lady who bandaged me up. I saw Marie Goh for several skin conditions, and she was incredibly unprofessional, condescending, and dismissive of my concerns. I'm a woman in my late 20s, and she was treating me like I was 12 years old. For example, I expressed my concerns about repeated ingrown hairs and subsequent infections, and she suggested laser hair removal. Great, except then I asked her where she recommended and conveniently she recommended herself, and was completely upselling me on the treatment. When I then proceeded to ask about the cost since this is not covered by insurance she told me "it's expensive, so maybe add it to your Christmas wishlist!", which I found extremely condescending considering I'm an adult who financially supports myself, and even so, my financial situation is not her concern. Then, on top of all that, her office gave me the incorrect information sheet on the laser. I also brought up concerns of dry skin under one of eyes, and she dismissed it as aging, when my other undereye was much less dry, and I told her I thought it was eczema since I have a history of eczema. I picked her because I saw she has good reviews, but I really don't know how that could possibly be. I really never write reviews unless something is truly awful, and I must say she is one of the worst medical providers I've seen in my life. If you are considering choosing Golden State Dermatology, I strongly urge you to seek care literally anywhere else, so you don't waste your time and money. read more

I'll explain why this office has vastly mixed reviews. I've come here for years. The doctors are great and very professional. But if you simply seek your annual skin and mole check, or need a severe rash evaluated, I suggest you look elsewhere. My observations are that many dermatologists today make their money and build their reputations on Botox, beauty consults and vanity treatments. The doctors here will, in fact spend the appropriate amount of time with their patients given the seriousness and urgency of the condition being treated. I echo a couple of the other reviewers that the office and front desk do not make you feel welcomed. I have repeatedly needed to wait in line to check in for my appointment while other patients either incoming or outgoing completely dominate the time of the front desk. I can't help but overhear Karen type entitled conversations about treatments, payments, future appointments, and what I would consider ridiculous demands. Plan to arrive at least 15-20 minutes early to be able to check into your appointment on time. Hopefully, your schedule allows this. Mine doesn't. For my appointment today, I acknowledged my texted appointment reminders three separate times, and was directed to the Pleasanton office. When I arrived and was finally able to check in, I was informed my PA actually works in Livermore on Tuesdays and so she was not here for my appointment. How that got scheduled, your guess is as good as mine. So now I have to push out my appointment by two weeks to make it work, and they've wasted about an hour of my time. read more

Dr. Sahni is great, but unfortunately, the receptionists, their manager, and the supporting staff have been extremely disappointing. They do not respect patients' time, have delayed submitting prescriptions, and failed to keep their promise of notifying me when the prescription was submitted. I chose the Pleasanton location because it is close to my home, but I now highly regret that decision due to these consistently unpleasant experiences. While I have had a great experience with Dr. Sahni, the administrative and support staff have made the overall experience very frustrating. read more

I was seen by Kassie the NP and she knows her stuff. I don't know what the other reviewers are complaining about but my experience at this clinic was great. She conducted both biopsy and referred me for a series of blood tests to further check the immune system issues after no findings from the biopsy. She pointed me to the right direction for the specialist referral. She also asked me several times about any possible family history that really drawn my attention to talk with my dad and dig further. The visits were costly I had to pay lot of upfront, but I'd rather having someone who knows their stuff than paying my time to someone who don't know their craps! read more

Spend time with your patients. Don't just rush people through. Act like the patient is what matters and not high volume.

Until recently I would have given it a 4-5. But the Dr I've seen for about 30 years just doesn't seem to care anymore and even worse, if she makes a mistake she gets mad at the patient for it. This has happened twice now- one lesion she said "not cancer and never will be" but I insisted on a biopsy, it was stage two squamous. Then I had one on my face- the surgery went well, healed with no problems, then a lump formed right beside the suture line, they drained blood from it and blamed a blood thinner I'm on. Well I've had blood drawn, cut myself and had dental procedures and nothing like this happened. They put what called a pressure bandage on it which fell off on the way home- it's just a difficult area for a pressure bandage, and they had cauterized through the needle hole and insisted they got the bleeder. Next day it's back but took couple days to get in because she was " done with this problem" it wasn't her problem and that I wouldn't do what she said, although I had- to a T. She was verbally very nasty to me told me there was nothing she could do. I'm still trying to find some to help as it continues to get bigger and a black eye is developing and I'm afraid of what could happen. I did find an urgent care who was astounded that the surgeon wouldn't fix her own problem and agreed that a tiny bleeder found a tract to where it made this blood hematoma. The pressure in it has caused it to find little tracts under my eye and since the lump is hard now it is probably clotted. The only Dr who maybe can help is out of town for another two weeks. I've been coming here 30 years but I won't go back. This particular Dr played a role in another disaster with somone I know and I couldn't hardly believe it. I sure do now. She makes a mistake, she won't own it and fix it, she blames the patient and gets insulting about it. It's time she gets her mind right or retires. read more

I really regret coming to this medical practice. Not only was I prescribed an expensive medication that induced vomiting and diarrhea, my insurance didn't cover any of the cost (even though they were in-network). I asked this medical practice if I could have any deductions and the lowest they will go for the less than 10 min consult which led to severe illness from the medication is $265.10. So not only did my original problem not get resolved, I got severely ill and have to pay hundreds for it. I will not be returning. read more

I used to use Avis Chu and she did a very good job. More recently Kaci Palmer was my provider. I had my injections, and followed with a set of touch ups. The results are quite disappointing. I will be looking for a new person to be my provider read more

I had a common cosmetic procedure done by PA Kasie Palmer. Unfortunately, it did not turn out as expected. The touch-up was also not successful. I contacted the Livermore office to speak to the office manager about the issue. The very friendly receptionist promised me a phone call in latest 2 days. That was over 2 weeks ago - nobody has called back yet. I've had a wonderful experience with PA Avis Chui. Unfortunately, she does not work at the Golden State Dermatology anymore. read more

"I have been recommending Golden State dermatology, which is the office of Dr. Robert Greenburg, for over 30 years now. There is no better dermatologist here in the San Francisco Bay area, Possibly here in California. I know because my brother, a doctor in another state, reached out to find the best on the West Coast. He was pretty surprised to find that there was a newcomer to the medical community that quickly raced through the ranks and was known as quite possibly the best dermatologist the Stanford university had at the time. Dr. Robert Greenburg reviewed my case and quickly found the time to get me in to see him. He grew cultures to find out what aggressive strain was attacking my body. Over the years, I've been told by so many doctors and medical Institutions that Dr. Robert Greenberg is the best and brightest dermatologist here in the San Francisco Bay area. I have yet to find any medical professional who has anything negative about him. Anytime I bring up Dr. Robert Greenburg's name in a conversation with a medical professional. I get smiles, handshakes, and people telling me how lucky I am to be able to work as one of Stanford's best dermatologists. This man has saved my life over 30 years ago. My daughter would not be here today and my son would have grown up without a father. If it were not for the outside-of-the-box thinking that Robert Greenburg had at that time. I do not typically do reviews for anybody. But this one is a no-brainer. This man and his staff deserve recognition for their outstanding services for me and so many people. I am proud to know this man. The only thing I can think of that cannot be in his favor is he seems to be a workaholic and does so much for his patience. I hope he finds some terrific ways to bounce his life with his family and friends. Dr. Robert Greenburg, thank you for being such a devoted, hard-working outside-of-the-box thinking dermatologist. I have requested an appointment with Dr Dang but they scheduled the appointment with one of their Physician assistants. When I went there I felt she was super busy and she just finished the consultation within a few minutes. Moreover, the medication she prescribed didn't help at all, my problem increased after taking the medication. So when I called and told the same to their receptionist and requested an appointment with Dr Dang, she said you need to wait for a month! I don't know how the Dr Dang is but never consult with their Physician assistants. read more

I have been seeing PA Kasie Palmer for years. I have followed her to multiple offices. That is how amazing she is. she has been injecting my lips for 5-6 years now. We have built my lips up over the years. She has also created a shape. Kasie also performs my yearly skin exams. I have had some questionable moles and she has removed them and sent them for testing. We also treat my acne. Shes very knowledgeable and explains everything in detail. read more

This review is not for Ming Dang but the non-transparent policies of this office. Know that if you are a new or returning patient after a 3 year hiatus, you will be charged $110 on top of the cost of the procedure. Had I known this beforehand, I would have canceled the appointment. I didn't feel this was just so contacted the office manager. We had weekly calls for over a month where I received incorrect information until I was finally credited only $35 out of the $110 being told this was their base cost and the best they could give me. Their billing office was of no help either. This experience has been very disappointing and frustrating. I won't be returning to this or any Golden State Derm office and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Kasie has been nothing but amazing in both derm/cosmetics. I've struggled with acne/ rosacea for almost 10 years and Kasie found a routine that works wonders, she's cleared my skin completely. The daily routine she's created for me has completely transformed my skin with little to no breakout for the past year. She took her time to find the perfect routine that works for my skin. Best dermatologist I've ever seen, will continue seeing her for my yearly refills along with lip filler. Kasie does amazing work with filler and has definitely helped boost my confidence, can't thank you enough. I had a small slightly painful bump on my neck and had it checked at Golden State dermatology. Came back as basal cell cancerous. I decided to have it removed. They told me they would be using a Mohs surgery. The original size of the affected area was approximately the size of a dime at most. However once the procedure was done without complications I ended up with a 4 in sutured scar quite obvious on my neck. They say it will take two to three years to completely heal. I'm sure that it will still be visible then as well. Not happy because they did not tell me this part of what to expect. If I had known, I probably would not have the procedure done because it is not known to be known to spread quickly. read more

This review is negatively directed towards PA Kasie Palmer, however Dr. Dang is amazing and PA Avis Chiu is exceptional. Kasie Palmer is an awful PA. She prescribed me a very strong medication that is not suitable for my extremely sensitive skin. She never once asked me about my skin sensitivity, as I assumed it was on the questionnaire that I filled out prior to my appointment. She never went over the side effects of the medication other than saying it could dry out my skin, so make sure to moisturize thoroughly. However, my 4th day using my prescription, I had extreme irritation and sensitivity. I was not able to put MOISTURIZER or serum (I tried multiple different moisturizers/serums) on my face for 2.5 days because if I did, my face would be severely irritated with extreme burning/stinging. She told me to use it in the AM everyday, but after speaking to PA Avis Chiu, she told me this should NEVER be used in the AM as it causes sun damage and further negative side effects. Avis Chiu said that the prescription she prescribed me was not suitable for my skin type. My prescription was $60 out of pocket. For the sake of GSD, Kasie Palmer should be fired. This was an awful experience with Kasie, but and exceptional experience with Avis Chiu. GSD is a great dermatology place, minus one awful PA. read more
