I have gone to Dr. Fung for years. HIs long waits in the office area no longer happening. He is friendly and very explanatory about care options. However, my husband did not have a good clinical outcome with removal of a lesion that was positive for melanoma. Initial excision about 1 1/2 inch stitch line. I accidentally saw this clinic when visiting a clinic in the same building in Pleasanton. Inquired about the removal of a mole on my chest and received an appointment to see Dr. Fung. At the time of the visit, he asked if I wanted to be locally numbed?! I thought he knew it better, while I said, if it is not painful, then that is fine. However, he started burning the mole, which was very painful, but I tolerated it anyway. Long story short, what I did not like about the whole experience was the fact that he rushed through this procedure with minimal care! Besides, not only did the mole not go away, but it left an awful scar mark on my chest. Honestly, I will not recommend this clinic knowing what I know now. Absolutely nothing personal. read more

Not respecting patient's time. My appointment is on 3 pm. It is almost 6pm and I am still waiting for the doctors. The doctors are seeing other patients during this time. Never come again to a place disrespectful of time. Update I received the filler treatment. I was pushed to purchase more fillers than expected although the doctor told me she would not use all of them ( and will give me a refund if there are any left over, yes). I am unhappy about their bedside manner. I asked for a natural look with less fillers, but they insisted on an instant lift result on my face, knowing that it will become much worse than before in a few months. If you're looking for a great injector, Dr. Fung is it! I was concerned about my deep smile lines and he suggested Voluma on my cheek bone area, that it would raise and soften my lines...he was absolutely correct!! I just got off the phone with The office manager who is insistent on charging me for the missed appointment even after knowing that it was missed due to COVID-19. Be extremely careful while booking any appointments with these people if you are missed an appointment they will bill you keep sending you invoices and nag you to death. I feel they are the most difficult billing people that I had to deal with in the Bay Area. Usually a medical office with let you off the missing first appointment especially during COVID-19 times. The insensitivity is appalling. I recommend find another practice that's willing to work with where office staff is willing to work with you and is more understanding during this difficult COVID-19 time that we are dealing with. read more

I went to Dr. Fung for acne treatment. He was pressuring me to get veltin gel which was name brand and cost 1,000$ per box and it would be a monthly subscription. There was no way I was going to do this and he ignored my requests for a microneedling treatment and decided to write me a perscription for the veltin. I have been seeing Dr. Fung for about a year now. I am very impressed with him and his staff. They are very friendly and welcome you when you come to the office. I always get right in when I make a call and they have even been accommodating when I have had to reschedule with short notice. I have been there for a mole screening and suspect mole removal. The first time I went in was because I had a mole on my shoulder that I wanted looked at and the doctor identified it as okay, but then commented that the one near it (that I hadn't even noticed) was concerning. I am very grateful that he noticed the mole because it turns out that it needed to be removed. If he wasn't thourough or caringabout what he does he would have looked at my one mole and not cared about anytihing else, sent me on my way and then I would be seeing him for Melanoma. This is a review written by my boyfriend Keith because he doesn't have a yelp account..... DO NOT GO HERE! They butchered my back because I have some large sun spots they removed 4 at first. Then they resized two and decided to look for more and took two more out and now they have to resize the last two and want to inspect for more. Why did they not look for all of the spots at once and take them all out at once?! I am tired of having to go in over and over. The first time I went in I was originally going in to get a gross bump on my leg looked at. He looked at it and gave me an antibiotic then immediately looked at my back because I was worried about a few. He said he would be right back, came in shot my back with numbing stuff and immediately started digging. He didn't tell me what he was doing, he just started. He also had his nurse or assistant doing it. The one thing you never want to hear when getting stitches is the doctor instructing the person how to do it!!! I was not comfortable. The second visit I went to I told him the bump on my leg was still there and not going down. He looked at it and said it was fine and didn't want to touch it because of the antibiotics. Great. So now I get to deal with a nasty bump and the doctor wont even do anything about it. This doctor is also not very professional. The way he talked to me sounded like he was on speed. I was not comfortable with him working on any part of my skin. And to top it off they broke doctor patient confidentiality. I gave them my phone number to call and give me information on my skin. I do not like doctors telling my parents (I am 22 NOT a minor) because they never relay the information to me correctly and I would rather hear it from a doctor. They called my parents (who are also patients of this location) and told them everything instead of ASKING for me or even asking for my cell phone number. I was furious! I could sue them if I wanted to. I am not a minor and I deserved to get a call not have them leave a message with my parents. I would not suggest going to this place! I am for sure moving my business somewhere else. read more

I have been going to Dr Fung for over 5 years for laser treatements. He was one of the first dermatologists in the bay area to use Candela lasers which was how I found him. I can say objectivley that I look at least 8 years younger than I am and compared to people my age. This is confirmed by others and new people that I meet. Not just my opinion.This result from simply going once every one or two years for treatment. I also appreciate that even when he moved to the larger location and had more overhead costs he didn'tt gouge his patients like other dermatologists. For laser treatment he is priced realistically at least 50% less than other Dr's that do laser treatment in the bay area. I appreciate that. What I also like about Dr Fung in addition to his self depricating sense of humor which most Dr.s lack, is that he discusses the approach and provides details on the pros and cons of each option. Okay after reading the negative posts here I feel I have to weigh in. I have been seeing Dr. Fung for at least 5-6 years. He does not push medication (i.e. the Accutane) and if he asks you which strength of medication you prefer (as the previous poster mentioned), it's because he is a collaborative physician. You know better than he does, actually, about your preferences. Don't fault him for consulting you. If you were kept waiting it's because he gives each patient A LOT of time. I've often wondered how he makes any money at all : ) Seriously, I feel guilty sometimes. I figure I will have to wait too, so if I'm in a hurry I make my appointment for first thing in the morning or first thing after lunch. I'm a little embarrassed here because it sounds like I'm in love with my derm, and in a way I am! I refer people to him and Dr. Lee all the time. I am always being told that I look MUCH younger than my age and that my skin looks great. Works for me! read more

I went in to see Dr. Fung for the first time. Interested in botox. I had it done once before at a med-spa and did not have good results. Dr. Fung came highly recommended by a friend of mine. After my last experience where I ended up looking like an alien I was nervous to say the least! Dr. Fung was very professional and what I liked the most is that he "listened" to my concerns. I made an appt with Dr. Fung for a wart on my foot and a dry skin rash on my hand and disappointed with the service that I received. Yes, he froze the wart on my foot and gave me a disapproving look when I told him that I worked out at a public gym. I tried to ask the cause of the dry skin rash on my hand and he simply told me it was just common eczema and couldn't explain how I got the rash. I too went to Pacific Dermatology and as long as I saw Dr Lee things were fine. then I started seeing Dr Fung and he didn't care much and I have the scars to prove that. Simple freezing of moles left huge scars on the décolletage area. For a Dermatology professional I was not impressed. Then they moved to the big office (one they are in now) and 2 years later I get a bill for $300.00 that they say I didn't pay. I believe what happened was they submitted it and the insurance co would not pay as they told me many things that could have been grouped together were submitted separately, that way they get paid more.
