10 / 5 stars. When hubby and I started our outdoor climbing adventures, we were looking for local guides (in San Diego) who can introduced us to a new form of climbing and also elevate our outdoor technical skills. In the last year, we've done 5 private sessions with GSG around local crags, we did our first outdoor bouldering session, sport climb session, and then progressed towards technical skills such as anchoring, lead, and wrapped the year with our first multi-pitch climbing. Ryan, the owner of GSG is responsive and communicative. He answered all of our inquires promptly and thoughtfully; the follow-ups for our sessions are detailed and we always had the peace of mind going each climb. The GSG guides we've climbed with, Greg, Spencer, Chad are stellar guides who are extremely professional, patient and organized. Each experience is tailored to our goals for the day and we learned a great deal of technical knowledge and practical knowledge from them. As beginners, we felt safe and had a lot of fun being challenged mentally and physically. Can't wait to go out in 2024 with GSG on longer overnight trips!

Third day complete with Golden State Guiding and Chad. First two were in Mission Trails. Today was our multi pitch day in El Cajon. The weather was ideal. The route was well thought out by Chad. I can't compliment GSG enough for helping me accomplish this in a structured environment where I felt as safe as could be possible. As is expected, there were moments when my capabilities felt challenged. However, the level of training and communication was of a caliber that I was able to quickly get out of my head, redirect my thoughts on the confidence I'd built in my guide and I pressed forward each time. I'm hoping to plan another activity with the same guide plus a friend in the coming months. I cannot recommend GSG highly enough. Thanks Ryan and Chad!

We booked a full day (8a-4p) rock climbing trip at Joshua Tree National Park with GSG. The coordination via email to book was super easy and customer service with Mel was amazing. We booked several months out for a Saturday. It was clear to us that the park entrance fee and lunch was not included so we would be arranging that ourselves. We were connected to our guide for the day, Greg. He is as fantastic. Before our trip we talked about our goals with the trip. We met Greg outside at the Visitor Center at 8am and talked about the plan for the where we would be climbing for the day. Greg was all around awesome. We climbed several routes and Greg provided safety into and set anchors for us and also squeezed in bouldering for us since we had requested for some bouldering in addition to rope climbs. Our day was fun and Greg went above and beyond (thanks Greg!) in providing encouragement, jokes and belaying us.

Climbed Shasta May 14-17 as a privately guided trip. Sammy was the best! Competent, knowledgeable, skilled, fun, patient and encouraging. We had a great weather window, no wind at summit which is unbelievable. A bit warm so I recommend snowshoes. Had an absolutely fantastic trip. I told Sammy I burned my face to a crisp last year on Shasta, so she was constantly after me to re-apply sunscreen, which I so appreciated. Can't wait to do another trip with Sammy !! Pre-trip coordination with Ryan was also excellent. Thank you Ryan !!

I had a blast in red rocks with Golden State Guiding! I did 2 days of multipitch, and one day of sports climbing (which was top-rope + mock lead). This was my first time doing multipitch, which was a lot of fun to try, and I got to work on some of the skills I was lacking, like cleaning up an anchor, and repelling (which we did down a 600 ft rock). All the instructors were very helpful, had lots of patience, and were generally really cool people you would love to climb with anywhere. If you're starting outdoor climbing, I highly recommend this group.

One of the best experiences in my life. Did the split boarding and intro to ice climbing courses. Both times the guides were incredible. All the gear was top notch, the routes we took were so fun. Everything was super safe and the guides all keep in touch. It's a great community

I have used Golden State on a number of occasions and continue to be impressed with not only their expertise but most importantly the focus on safety. I learned years ago after many self guided adventures, that I can enjoy these experiences, much more with the confidence of having solid Guides keeping me in the zone. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Attended the Ladies Weekend Out with Golden State Guiding in Red Rocks this March, and wow, it exceeded my expectations in every way! It was an absolutely amazing experience, I am so glad I took a chance and signed up. Every guide was so knowledgeable and helpful, each woman was encouraging and provided great tips. I had the most interactions with Jo and Sammie, and Samie was my guide for my first time ever doing multi-pitch climbing. She was so patient, calm, and an excellent teacher. She helped us keep our composure, be brave, and keep climbing while we were 200 feet in the air on the side of a mountain! She is so encouraging and I could not have asked for a better guide for my first experience of multi-pitch climbing. Jo is an absolutely fantastic guide, she fearlessly led the way for us during this weekend of adventure, and her enthusiasm for climbing and the outdoors is contagious. I cannot wait to do another adventure with GSG! They got me hooked on climbing! These LWO events are so empowering and encouraging, it was awesome to be surrounded and encouraged by some bad-ass, strong woman climbers! Keep up the awesome work!

We booked with Golden State Guiding again for an outdoor education rock climbing in Joshua Tree. Since our 5th graders outdoor Ed was cancelled due to pandemic, we tried to be creative and make our own adventure with the help of GSG. Booking process is a breeze as Ryan is super organized and provides all the details you need. Guides are top notch. Greg was awesome and so great with our kids. Camden (8 yo) climbed up more routes than anyone! Adelaide (10 yo) was a little hesitant but Greg has such a jovial kind nature and was able to make it fun and easy for her. Mike learned how to make anchors, place gear & lead. I got to climb some fun routes. We all had a blast.

Had the awesome opportunity to go out to Joshua Tree with Greg! A few weeks prior, I was climbing with a new group of friends at Dixon Lake, a small crag known for a little bit of trad. With trad, I've learned bits and pieces from friends, but have never felt fully confident in what I'm doing. I asked my new friends how they learned and they strongly recommended Golden State. I'm a very cautious climber, which means I always have a million questions when I'm learning something new. Greg was super chill. He answered every question I had, made me practice a ton, and explained the pros and cons of different approaches for whatever we were working on. He also made it fun! Overall, I feel like I have a solid foundation to build off of now. If you're someone who benefits from formal instruction like I do, Golden State is the company to go with. They know their stuff and will make sure you do too at the end of your lesson!

I decided to sign my 12 year old daughter up because she had been begging to snowboard. The problem for me is that living in Orange County it is too time consuming to go up and down the mountain, plus I do not snowboard so I would need to pay for her to have lessons when I was there. This program solved both problems for me. She has a group to ride up the mountain with, plus excellent instructors as well as a great group of kids that are at her same level that she has become friends with because they keep the kids together for the season. She has already improved so much even after just a couple trips. She already wants to go again next year so I will have to plan to make this a yearly thing until she "outgrows" it at 16. It seems that many of the kids that have been in the program do come back as chaperones too so she might be a part of this for years to come. It was a bit unnerving to send my child up the mountain on a bus with a group of people that I did not know, but I feel 100% safe sending her with them now. It feels like she is just going on a school field trip, of course, this is better than most school field trips though. :)

As…read morea newbie into healthcare/emergency services etc and without any previous knowledge like anatomy classes etc, I had so much to learn, just listen in lectures and you'll pass and do great. I did the accelerated course for 5 weeks Mon-Thu 8am-5pm. Tips: 1. whether you have general knowledge of the topics covered in an EMT course or not, acknowledge that you are gonna be digesting a lottttt of new information. Get good sleep, take your notes, apply yourself don't just show up to class and expect to pass 2. Create a good set up. I did my sign/symptoms homework over the weekend in addition to the online JBL quizzes. (both graded). This way during the week all I had to worry about was learning new information, being ahead, and studying for the in person quiz and exam. 3. Ask questions, the instructor is a tool that you can use. They are always there to help you and want you to succeed. Super knowledgeable and helpful, just have the courage to ask questions, especially when it's needed. 4. Sign up for your 2 required EMS rides early, if you do them in the second or third week it's better. A lot of the students including myself put dates for the last 2 weeks of the course, however EMS services can only have so many ride alongs.Hence, I just finished the course and am taking my 2nd ride along the week after because it was backed up. Do it early. 5. Make friends in the class and help each other out. We were all able to bond over the topics that were harder to learn etc, it ended up helping a lot. Everyone the first week is obviously nervous but everyone is super nice just put yourself out there. 6. When your class is studying together for the quiz or exam and Spencer is talking, listen CAREFULLY to what he says, if he repeats something or says it slowly, it's for a reason, study it for the quiz/exam. You will be doing yourself the biggest disadvantage if you don't listen to the instructor in class. 7. The skills assessments. You get out what you put in. Skills instructors are there to help teach you and correct you in practice, but be able to make mistakes and learn before skills testing day. 8. Manage your time effectively. Some students understood the information better than others and were able to enjoy themselves more outside of class time, for students like myself, the information was hard to grasp and the extra time outside of class is needed to study more. Expect to be done with class, go home and study what you learned. 9. Quizlet helps a lot, however cross check the information on there with your notes. (the book wasn't really much of help). But Spencer goes over all of the important topics in detail. Quizlet is good for practice but know your definitions and how things work. 10. Not everyone in the class but most were taken as a prerequisite for Fire Service. Super nice to network with everyone on this journey and get more information about the different routes people are on. I believe we started with 60 individuals and ended with 40 passing or so. Overall, the class was not that difficult if you followed these. At a bare minimum, turn everything in on time, keep up in the class or get ahead, LISTEN to the instructor. Great experience. Also the Cargo Cafe coffee shop there is phenomenal. Very convenient. About to take NREMT, super confident and studying pocket prep after the class. Goodluck y'all.

What should have been a sacred and respectful space for learning, healing, and growth quickly revealed itself to be dominated by ego, control, and a stunning lack of self-awareness. From day one, it was evident that this class was not rooted in integrity. John consistently made sexually suggestive jokes--habitual, inappropriate comments that disrupted the safety and sanctity of the learning environment. This wasn't a one-off misstep; it was a pattern of behavior that created discomfort and betrayed the seriousness of the subject matter. No one teaching herbalism--or any subject--should normalize that type of energy in a space intended for healing. Jane, on the other hand, carried an air of superiority that made it clear she was less interested in teaching and more interested in control. She mocked former students in front of the class, dismissing them for not "doing anything" with the knowledge they gained. That level of arrogance and public belittlement creates shame, not growth--and it contradicts everything a true teacher should stand for. When students sought clarity, John frequently dodged or deflected questions. Instead of thoughtful guidance, we were met with vague responses or outright dismissal. And Jane didn't stop at shaming past students--she went as far as making a degrading, classist remark about my partner, implying she was "probably poor" for being a caregiver. That wasn't just rude--it was prejudiced, judgmental, and deeply uncalled for. When my partner chose to leave the class and shared her experience publicly, I posted my review as well--because she stayed in the class longer and I wanted to speak for myself. Instead of accepting honest feedback, they responded by deleting my partner's review and labeling it "bullying." So let me make this crystal clear. Yes, I support my partner. But this review isn't about her--it's about my direct experience. And what I witnessed firsthand was bullying. What I felt was hostility cloaked in faux-spiritual rhetoric. What I endured was a space where power dynamics were abused and where criticism was met with retaliation, not reflection. You don't foster learning--you suppress it. You don't encourage growth--you stifle it. You don't lead with humility--you lead with ego and fragility. John's behavior wasn't "humor"--it was inappropriate and unprofessional. Jane's approach wasn't "tough love"--it was condescension masked as guidance. And your response to feedback wasn't "integrity"--it was image protection at the expense of truth. What you market as "honesty" is, in truth, spiritual bypassing. What you teach is overshadowed by the way you treat people. You shut down criticism, delete valid reviews, and paint yourselves as victims whenever you're asked to be accountable. And for the record lets keep it real. Gaslighting is erasing someone's experience and calling it an attack. Bullying is mocking students, demeaning their choices, and disguising superiority as mentorship. And ego is what drives you to silence anyone who doesn't flatter you. This review isn't meant to tear you down--it's meant to hold a mirror up. Because if you truly cared about herbalism and the healing path, you'd reflect on how far you've drifted from the values you preach. This isn't bitterness. It's boundaries. It's not hate--it's honesty. And it's long overdue.

When you call and ask to setup an appointment. You'll be added on a waitlist. Low and behold, I got a call and text from one of their students. Once scheduled, you'll only have to pay $20 CASH. You heard that right only $20!! It covers the whole year so you fan go multiple times a year scheduling a cleaning every 3 months. They only do X-Rays, deep cleaning, and regular cleanings. Tip for thought: Arrive a little early to find parking Shoutout to their friendly Instructors and students Ragad for X-Raying my teeth. Fabiola was awesome in deep cleaning my bottom whole section of my teeth, and Farzin for deep cleaning the top whole section. With a deep cleaning they numb you up real good. You might have multiple appointments so make sure you're okay to stay there for a couple of hours. Once students are all done, instructors examine their work to ensure you're all good to go! Peace Yelp Heads!
