However, it's a cozy, decent-sized space with talented women and they always use great hair products. She doesn't BLAST Spanish music like many other Dominican salons I've been to but she plays something every now and then at a decent volume. It's a safe and overall comfortable space to be in. :) Note: It's okay to ask the lady who washes your hair for another "round" of shampoo. They're all great about it and will make sure your scalp feels clean before you make your way to the chair. *Very important* as some salons have cranky women who seem to despise such requests!

First, location: This salon is near to Columbia University and it's a wonderful area to be in; little farmers market open across the street, on Thursday and Sundays so grab a bite and head to Aveda. The salon: on Second floor accessible by elevator or stairs. As a long time client it's nice to be greeted by my first name and extremely feel welcomed. The space is warm and the little area that one waits between washing hair and getting hair cut is very comfortable. The Aveda tea is soothing and nice to sip as you wait. The Product: I've used Aveda for over twenty years from the Rosemary Mint collector to Cherry Almond to Be Curly to Nutriplenish.. they're all wonderful and organic. The hand and foot cream are healing for dryness. Hairdresser: Randy is really talented, personable and really great! Shout out to Corba for the gentle hair washing. I finally moved out of NYC last August and was sad that it wouldn't be convenient for me to continue to go to America Hair Salon for my haircut. I got a haircut from someone else and was terribly unhappy with it. I decided that it was worth it to make the almost 3 hour drive back to NYC to America's yesterday and can't say enough good things. I LOVE my haircut. It's perfect.
