What a fun experience! We have a community pool but was invited for an event at Goldfish w Santa and cookies. Kids of different ages were invited to swim and play w all the toys, tables, boat and motorcycle! The lifeguards and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful w the parents. What's very convenient are the showers and changing rooms, large enough for parents w kids and shampoo is included. The mirror has blow dryers which really helps during winter months, and the establishment is very clean. It's the little things that go a long way! They also offer a swim time during the day for free play and family nights on Friday, very affordable! All the stars for Goldfish Swim School. My kids started here afraid of the water and adamant against putting their face in the water under any circumstances. Months later, they are different people! One of my kids can literally swim -- like face-in-the-water swim. Honestly, he can swim better than me. Both of my kids love being in the pool and love water, and I feel like that's in no small part due to their swim lessons here. Their swim teacher is amazingly patient and kind. She listens to them when they express their fears to her, but she also encourages them to try new things, and they usually end up being OK with these new things. If I tried to teach them new things in the water? They would protest and cry. Sometimes it helps to enlist a professional, especially when it comes to swim lessons. One of the things I love about Goldfish Swim School is that all of the Goldfish Swim Schools are exactly the same. This sameness is comforting to children, especially when they are facing scary and unusual experiences like learning how to swim. The fact that everything is the same, no matter where which Goldfish you go to, serves as an anchor. Goldfish also thinks about all the little things that makes a swim lesson just a bit better: hair dryers for afterward when your kids are cold, goggles to purchase in case you forget yours, a book nook to chill out, candy and ice cream in case your child needs a little sugary incentive. I absolutely love this Goldfish location. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Goldfish is a swim school that also has family open swim. I have taken my son several times to the open swim. He has gotten so much more comfortable in the water since our first visit. And since the water is heated it like swimming in bath water. Things to know. *They do Not provide towels. I learned the hard way. *They have quite a few private changing rooms. *There is a hair drying station. With a large mirror. *There is a changing table for the little ones. Plus they have some diapers and wipes to use. *Children that are not potty trained must use an iplay reusable swim diaper. You can not use the little swimmer. They sell them in house. We've been to Goldfish Swim School a couple times for open family swims through a local moms group. I absolutely love the team that works here - they are always lively and fun! The customer service here is and the kids love it! Their selection of pool toys are really neat and keep the kids entertained and moving! Kiddos will sleep well after a fun swim here! With Goldfish's maximum 1:4 ratio, many lanes, clear goals for each level, and well broken up levels, the kids flourish here. I am glad we joined. Classes are 30 minutes. There is ample seating behind a glass wall to view the lessons. Make up classes are easy. You get an allotment of makeup classes to use when needed. The instructors connect well with the kids. The school has open swim nights for the whole family. After class, our kids use their shower, they provide blow dryers, and there are many dressing rooms. Years back I sent my young boys here. I watched the instructor keeping a close eye on me as my child cried. I could see her explaining that she was going to put him under the water for a brief moment to which he cried hard and begged please no please no. As this transpired I noticed that as she seemed to console him she would glance up at me quickly. So I decided to look down at my phone and pretend I was playing on my phone but I REALLY had it on video and was recording her. During these few minutes of her trying to coax my 6 yr old (who's very nervous natures) to go under, and him still crying/pleading, I see her glance up at me. She noticed I wasn't watching (or so she thought) at which point she said hold your breath! And as he was holding tight to her he screamed LOUD high pitched scream, to which she proceeded to dunk him under. He came up coughing, gasping,crying. It took everything in me to not jump in but when she did it seconds later AGAIN I flew off the handle. I ran in, grabbed him from the side of the pool, went ape-sh*t on her, then went to the front desk and demanded the manager. I spoke with corporate. Found out she was immediately fired after I gave the video and that she also worked at a nursing home as an aide. I'm sure her "caring nature" is a great asset there. I would NEVER recommend this goldfish or any other bjt if you do then I HIGHLY suggest you watch your child the whole time. There were other instructors around who witnessed and did nothing , they simply watched and turned a blind eye which is terrifying. read more

We have been taking our baby here for about a month now. We really love everything about the program. Our baby loves her teacher and we love being able to participate with her. Some points of note: 1. I wish they'd fix the 2nd swimsuit dryer. There is only one and being that we go to an evening class, we often end up taking soggy suits in the car. 2. I wish there were more showers or a bit of staggered exit time. Having a 10 month old, it's difficult getting into the shower to rinse her off with all the other small kids running around. 3. I wish there were more dressing rooms. Most times I wait up to 20 minutes for a dressing room so I can take my suit off. Other than that everything is really perfect. I just think maybe it's outgrowing it's current space. We can't wait for all the years of memories that will come From here :) read more

We love Monday nights at our house, because Monday means "swimmy" class with Miss Tori! Our toddler (3.5) has loved Goldfish - mostly - from day 1. Our little adventurer has a bit of hesitation the first 2 classes but we were blessed with amazing coaches - like Miss Margaret - who helped him see how fun swimming and learning with kids his age could be. After a year of lessons, our little guy can swim independently without floaties, roll over in the water and float on his back, and most importantly he knows how to be safe! The amazing staff at Goldfish focuses on keeping children safe in and around water. The kids learn what to do if they ever fall in a pool, they learn how to get themselves out of the pool, and they practice these skills every week. We cannot recommend Goldfish enough!! read more

Start to finish this has been a 5 star experience. I highly recommend this place and team for your child's swim lessons. Their website is great and makes it very easy to register and sign up for classes. All the policies are upfront and pricing is fair. My first impression when we arrived at the facility was how clean it is and how they've gone over and beyond in making sure it is safe in regards to COVID. I spoke with Hannah who is just the sweetest. She gave us our fun waterproof bags and goodies and also answered all my questions and helped feel at ease that the instructors will know that my kids are first timers and cannot swim at all. Personally, I'm a semi-helicopter mom and am very cautious with my kids around water and respect the potential dangers and how quickly things can turn for the worst. I intentionally signed my kids up for lessons so we can all feel confident when they're near or in water. My children are 4 & 5 and this was their first experience with swim lessons. We attend during the week so my 4 year old was was with one other student and teacher. My 5 year old was solo with his teacher. They also have 2 lifeguards on duty. In this age group the teacher to student ratio is no more than 1:4; which I think is just fine. The students take turn and while the student waits they sit on a bench that is in the pool. Both my kids were so excited when they were done and couldn't wait to show me they could dunk under water! Now with that said, Gold Fish does not force your child under water, especially the first few visits. I can barely wash my 5 year olds hair without him flipping out getting water in his eyes and ears and here is voluntarily and excitedly going under water. He was so proud of himself. This was my biggest take away from our experience that they encourage the student to go at their pace. The same 5 year old would not float on his back. Instead he'd tense up and grab onto the instructor. She encouraged him to try, but was never pushy and his safety was never in question. We also have had to miss a class. They allow for make-up classes and it's a super easy process. You get a token and you can even schedule your makeup class via the app. This process was very easy and flexible. My daughter had her birthday party there and the place is amazing for kids. When the kids go in, they first test the swimming ability of each kid. The ones who don't quite make it have to wear a life jacket. Safety is a big concern. There are always two staff members in the pool area. There are a lot of different toys - small and large - the kids can play with in the pool. They went crazy with their friends, and no one got hurt. Goldfish Swim School is a really good school in a great location. Goldfish is well thought out, especially in terms of their instruction, layout, their amenities, and customer service. The school offers 30 minute classes to children based on ability level taught by certified instructors who instruct the same students each week until they move up a level. The great thing about that is consistency and since they work on specific things at each level, even a substitute instructor should be able to work without interruption in skill training. For the last five minutes of the child's session, parents are encouraged to come onto the pool deck to watch the children demonstrate what they are learning. Then parents and student get feedback from the instructor on what they are doing well, and what they need to improve. Amenities are well thought out. The showers are at the end of the pool deck and the facility provides soap/shampoo for the children to wash off the pool chemicals. Upon exiting the pool deck, children are then accompanied by their parents to either the blow drying station, or to one of a dozen changing rooms. A free prize is offered every week for the children at the service desk. The customer service is what stands apart. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are always willing to help out parents in various situations, whether it being needing to reschedule a class, book a party, inquire about other offerings, or whatnot. In addition they offer snacks and drinks for sale that are very kid friendly. They also keep the facility very clean! In addition they also really like surveys and take them seriously. Our experience with this place is very mixed. Our boys were both in classes. They are VERY aggressive with teaching. It depends on the child's personality as to whether it's a good fit in my opinion. My 4 yr old thrived. He's very adventurous and sure of himself. His teacher was amazing and when he said no she didn't push. My 7 you are olds experience was VERY different. He's cautious and extremely scared of the water. The instructor would NOT take no for an answer with any child. I noticed my son would beg not to go each lesson. This turned in to crying fits. I knew they pushed him but he was proud of himself afterwards so we continued with close monitoring. I watched every single lesson to ensure the instructor wasn't being too pushy. A few times i looked away and started noticing the instructor would check to see if parents were watching before she "pushed" the child with the lesson. One girl (7?) started screaming for her mom and begging not to go under the water. The teacher noticed the mom was playing on her phone and not paying attention and simply dunked the girl and held her head down as she "taught" her to swim. Horrified i ran to the mother to notify her. Bc my son was already versed on what to say when she got pushy, i wasn't worried....yet. So I placed my phone on video and watched through my phone screen to give her the allusion that i was not paying attention. I watched as my son begged to "not go under the water". He was scared bc of what just happened with the girl. The teacher looked to see if i was paying attention and when she noticed i wasn't (bc i was busy watching the video on my phone as i recorded her ) she shook her head no and said she wouldn't put him under, smiled, and said "ok swim". he did a few strokes above water as she held one hand on back of his neck and one under chest, then she proceeded to push his head under. He came up gasping, coughing, & crying. Smiling she said "that wasn't bad was it?!" In the same breath she pushed his head under without warning, again, and gave him a push to the wall. I WAS LIVID!!!!!!!! I ran in there like a bat out of hell and yanked him out as he softly whisper and cried "mommy please help me" --she nervously smiled at me and sweetly announced that the class wasn't over and encouraged him to stay. She explained that although it looked rough the way she handled him, "that was how you teach children to swim". I won't repeat my response on here. The words that came out of my mouth in reply would make a trucker cringe. My son was pulled from class that moment never to return and i told her she was lucky that i didn't dunk and drown her that very moment. I demanded to speak with the manager and corporate. She was fired days later with and apology to me and a credit i couldn't use bc we were moving out of state. Both my son and the other girl quit. The methodology there for teaching the older kids (over age 5) is aggressive. The turn over of kids is pretty high. I notifced kids only stayed a few days to weeks then quit. Now i understand why. Starting your child as a baby? This place is for you. Starting at age 6,7,8 with no experience and scared? Take your child and look elsewhere. read more

We took our 2 year old daughter here for swim classes. Long story short, she was completely traumatized within a couple months. The teachers would repeatedly dunk her under water; she learned to anticipate it and would start crying, yet they would dunk her anyway. It was clear the teachers stick to a strict class schedule and there was zero room for individuality. We quit and moved to Interactive Academy; it has taken our daughter a year to recover and begin to enjoy swimming. We are so glad we left!! read more

This place is a joke! All they care about is getting their monthly payment from the parent. After canceling our membership (you have to give 30 days notice), I got a call from Katie to ask more about why we were leaving. After explaining that our child was scared and that the teachers didn't do much to make her feel better, she seemed to act concerned and said she would talk to the teachers. I saw no improvements and 2 weeks later Katie called me to ask me for my credit card so that I could pay my prorated balance of $21 for our last payment that wasn't even due yet. It was like she forgot we even talked 2 weeks prior. She didn't ask if things improved in the class or if my child was more comfortable now. It was like she had an animated recording that she says over and over to all of the parents that have an upcoming balance due. No personal touch whatsoever. $21 - no big deal! Of course I was going to pay it and it wasn't even due yet. I guess this is what you get with a franchise. It's like a swim factory where they just crank the kids through class and collect the cash. I would advise going somewhere with a more personal touch not only in the lesson, but management too. Kids need to have a good swim lesson experience, not a bad one that will haunt them for life. read more

The Gold Fish Swim school in Fishers, IN does NOT listen to parents and is very unaccommodating. We have requested private swim lessons for over a month and the manager has given us every excuse in the book as to why my 3yo child cannot be seen there for private swim lessons. This facility does not accommodate families of special needs either. So disappointing. It is unorganized and inconsistent. I suggest not doing the "gift card thing" because they do no refunds of any kind. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We attend Goldfish in Carmel and it is an AMAZING place. With so many employees I have never encountered one negative or bad employee. They are amazing with the kids. My 2 year old just started and he cried, but the teacher and deck supervisors are so good at working together to cheer him up. My 2 older kids are on the swim rec team and they have so much fun each week with the fun teachers. I have tried swim lessons other places but I found goldfish when they first opened and I definitely recommend them for your child's swim lessons! read more

We have attended two years here. The staff are nice and smile but they do not go above and beyond to help when you have scheduling questions. They tell you to go online which their site is not very user friendly and when I ask in person they can't seem to answer any questions about issues online. They are not very prompt in returning calls either and I always see 2 to 3 people sitting in the front when we are there so I don't know why the slow response during open times when classes are going which is when I try to call. The make up policy is also not very helfpul. I called to reschedule make up classes in advance of my child's class several times and was told I needed to call back the day of her lesson, which were days we had other things to do or were on vacation etc. Think twice about paying a monthly fee of $84/month as the service does not match the time and money I have spent. We will not be coming back next year. The teachers are hit and miss in terms of their patience level with children. We had a wonderful young man named Trevor this summer who was excellent and the reason we stayed, however many others were mediocre. The facility is very friendly loooking and clean. The pools are very nice. Having drink and snack options at the desk is very nice. I only wish the service matched the physical space. read more
