From the moment I walked in to their family day open house I was tremendously impressed. The staff greeted me very friendly and I was quickly given a complete tour of the facility, culminating in seeing the pump room where the advanced water filtration system was humming (wow!). Obviously the facility is brand new, however it felt so clean and organized that it added to my peace of mind. The overall atmosphere is one of excitement as it's decorated and laid out for children to feel right at home. Kudos to the owners and staff. They really put together a beautiful facility that I'll be proud to take my boys for their swimming lessons. Who would have thought that such a beautiful facility (pool) would feel so right in a strip mall setting? If you're considering lessons for your kids, there isn't a better facility around. I had my first Stony Creek Swim Center experience yesterday. My three month old niece had her first…read moreWater Babies class. I was really impressed with it! The center is in an unassuming building with ample parking in their lot. You walk in and the scent of poop water hits you -- but it's much better than at hotels. After a check in at the front desk and a short explanation of how things worked, we were ready to change for class. The front room has chairs facing big windows so guests can watch the classes and stay dry. There are cubbies for your stuff out in the open as well as a lost and found section and plenty of magazines in case you need reading material. Three changing stalls with curtains and three individual bathrooms with changing table, toilet and sink are available. Right after classes get out, these can fill fast so you may have a wait. I went in to the pool area for the Water Babies class to take photos, which they allow you to do. My sister and my niece enjoyed roughly 30 minutes of singing songs and acclimating babies to the water. They practiced moving on their stomachs as well as their backs, had some tummy time on a floating mat, and practiced cues for swimming and gripping the walls. It was really cute to watch, but more than that, I could tell the instructor loves what she does and knows her stuff when it comes to babies in the water. I caught glimpses of other classes -- toddlers to maybe 6 year olds or so -- and the instructors were kind and knowledgeable and the kids were having fun. I'd give this place 4 stars on a first impression, but wouldn't be surprised if they move up to 5 in the coming weeks as I get to know them more. :)

I was bringing my grandchild for swim lessons. She loved it and was engaged. She has always hated…read moregetting her eyes wet. Even as a baby. I know that they are trying to get you to the point of being not reliant on anything to help you swim. But the owner pulled her out of a group at the end of a session. And while all the other children were playing, forced her to try to blink water out of her eyes. To the point where she was crying. She does not cry. I would think with years of experience that the owner would've handled our situation better. And when I brought it up, I was told she left "empowered". She was not. The next several sessions when I brought her back, she would not jump in the pool anymore, and she would not go underwater. She would cry. And did not want to go to any more lessons. At our pool, she was swimming without any type of swimmies and utilizing some of the skills she learned.... jumping and going underwater, getting to the edge and getting out of the pool. We allowed her to swim to the edge and get out of the pool and wipe her eyes. Not every child is the same, and you cannot bully someone into doing what you think they should. Sometimes it takes more patience. And we were getting there until she was singled out and made to cry. Also, the first location in Greenfield was very good. The main instructor was awesome. She also had her utilizing the blink method with some success. But at the new location in New Palestine, the new instructors were not as good. And unfortunately, the owner made things worse.

You sign up online and then they auto-bill your credit card monthly despite not allowing you to cancel in the app and sending you emails that you cannot reply too. This was a hard lesson learned. I told our swim instructor we would be attending 4 classes with our 3 kids and then we would be done. We had an unforeseen event in the family which necessitated us being out of state for a few weeks. I got a verbal response from the instructor (again very nice) and assumed it was done. This was my mistake. We were out of town and when I checked my personal email after 6 weeks (also my mistake) we had been billed for 2 sessions. After I emailed the "email for new class scheduling" I got a response saying I had to submit cancellation to the office in writing. Currently they are "looking into the matter" but I am not optimistic I will be reimbursed or they will make it right. If they do I will update the review. In conclusion I would never ever have worked with this company. The instructors are nice but their business practices less so. This review is for Indianapolis area of Indiana - through Hamilton Co.

She is so happy to go to school in the morning runs in to say hello to everyone. They are always working on different projects and she learned so much! Her hand eye coordination is really advanced for her age and I'm sure it's due in large part to all the attention she gets at school. I also enjoy that they have a no screens policy. Of course at times there have been little issues like she had been bitten by a child and then another time she was the biter (while in the 12 month class). Both scenarios were handled very professionally. Whenever there is a concern about my child, they bring it up even though I'm sure it must be difficult at times. I definitely appreciate the input because they know what milestones etc. to look for. It's also great because she has really healthy attachments with her teachers and the staff. Many of them have been there the entire time she's been going there and you can tell they are excited to see her grow! Robert has been very professional and compassionate in all of my dealings with him. I highly recommend the Goddard school!

My 4 year old daughter attended a birthday party at Gymnastics Unlimited today. The facility was…read moretidy and in good repair but seriously understaffed. There were two birthday parties occurring simultaneously, our group of 4 and 5 year olds along side another group of what appeared to be much larger older kids (maybe 8 or 9 year olds?) each group had well over a dozen members. The staffing was painfully sparse and consisted of merely a front desk woman and two teens on the gym floor. Upon arrival, we were greeted and immediately asked to fill out a waiver. I did inform the employee that this was our first visit. After receiving lack-luster instruction of rules and guidelines, we removed both mine, and my daughter's shoes/ socks, then headed to the tumbling room floor. Once on the floor, one of the teen employees approached quickly informing me, "All parents, except birthday child's parents, are to go upstairs in the viewing area." I was very hesitant to leave my 4 year old daughter and decided to mostly obey the girl's request by moving to the sidelines near the door. Once off to the side, I noticed NONE of the other 6 "non-birthday child parents" were asked to leave!! Not wanting to make a scene, I continued to watch carefully from the floor entrance. Here is what I witnessed: The teen girl employee only actively monitored one trampoline that was immediately in front of the foam pit. She repeatedly instructed my daughter to wait in line but did not appear at all concerned about how many children were already actually in the foam pit! I was very concerned because I did not want any of the little kids crushed by the much larger, considerably heavier older kids. While It is not reasonable to expect two girls to monitor a whole gym with over two dozen children running and jumping; it is also unreasonable to expect a small child to understand protocol and expectations in an alien environment. Why not allow parents to monitor their kids in an unobtrusive manner? Is it so difficult to also be consistent with the application of rules? I felt singled out, discriminated against and unwelcome. I had high hopes for Gymnastics Unlimited as a local, future scheduled, energy burn-off activity for my daughter but after today's off-putting experience, we will not be returning and would not recommend the facility to anyone wanting a safe experience for their young child.
