Highly disappointed in the outcome of my hair done by Lexi. No price transparency, and overpriced. No not go here...

I love love this hair studio. The receptionist was really nice on arrival. I've had the opportunity to be styled by both Kina and Alexandra. Alexandra did an exceptional job on providing treatments that worked best for my hair and she's been apart of my maintenance and hair care journey. While kina on the other hand cut my hair so that I could experience optimal hair growth. I've been going to this shop for a couple of years now and I can see major differences and productivity that they have helped me achieve. This establishment is a major staple in the community. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. ALICE IS HORRIBLE. IF I could give it zero stars I would. Made a 4PM appointment with Alice for a wash and flat iron with high lights. I was told $75. Price might increase depending on the length of my daughters hair. We arrived at 4:07. My child wasn't touched until 6 pm. Hair was bleached for the highlights. Washed and given a deep condition. Then the color which was suppose to be blue was added. After almost 2 hrs of sitting under the dryer " to make sure the color sets in" she was eventually washed out. Her hair was green. A dull washed out green. With patches of blond from where it was bleached. I pointed it out to Alice who responded that she doesn't know what went wrong. I then suggested that more color be added even if it stayed green at lease get rid of the bleach blond spots. She added more color and again put my kid under the dryer. Another hr. We were left in the shop unattended. Others who came in after us left. It's now 10:30 and finally my daughters hair was washed out. She proceeded to blow dry the hair and began to flat iron it. I had to ask her to start again as she hardly even got the hair straight. Eventually she finished and me, a complete idiot with a flat iron could have done better. She then said $220. Two hundred and twenty dolors. 35 to flat iron, 35 to Recolor. Charged me to Recolor after she fucked up my kids hair. Never again. Literally 8 hrs, $239- I was charged taxes caused I used a card. read more

This will probably be the longest review I've ever written. Very nice establishment aesthetically and the stylist were very nice, fun and playful. I wish I could give them more stars based off of that alone but outside of that my experience was horrible. My partner goes here and he warned me, however I was optimistic and thought "what are the odds that we both have poor experiences". Right? Besides, my regular loctician in Brooklyn is booked out and this was close to home and overall had good reviews on Google. Got to my appointment 10 minutes early. I was greeted and asked to have a seat. My appointment was for 3pm, Alex the stylist I was booked with said she'd be with me shortly. I sat for approximately 40 minutes before she actually called me to the washing station. When she did call me for washing, she was very sweet and funny, we laughed yadayadayada. She gave me a hot oil treatment followed by more nonsense. She placed me under the dryer for almost an hour so that she could work on two more heads. Hot oil treatments typically take 15-20 minutes under the dryer. It was then I realized that she had over booked clients. I noticed that a client came in about every half hour which was obviously not what the other stylist were doing. It's didn't irritate me that she had clients coming in every half hour but what did irritate me was that she was not fast enough to have clients booked at that interval. I'm used to quick but quality work. I'm sitting under the dryer and even when it stopped she still had me sitting there while she started working on a newly arrived client, meanwhile I have oil dripping. She finally called me to wash the oil out of my hair and then put a towel over my head followed by a plastic cap and had me sit again while she begins styling someone's hair. When done she tells me to sit in her chair, she then goes missing for about 15 minutes and When she returned had another client sit in another chair so she can take her clips out. Once done with that person she comes back over to her chair grabs her soda and goes off to eat which took another half hour ( had I not been there for 2+ hours already I would have no issues with this at all). When she returns she then ask me to hold on so that she can call her dad. When she finally got back to start twisting my hair, I asked her to please twist and style my hair and I would air dry because it was going on 6pm and I had to pick up my daughter by 7:30. At first she said yes but that ended up changing once another client came in. She had that client sit while twisting my hair. She finished twisting my hair around 7 and then said she wanted to put me under the dryer for 5-10 minutes while she washed the client's hair. I told her I could do 5 but I needed to style and go but she could care less, she insisted that she get to washing the new client's hair because she has been waiting. Never mind that I'd been there for 4 hours already. Of course she took more than 10 minutes, but when she finally came back to style me, at this point she seemed frustrated and looked at the style that I wanted and asked another stylist to teach her how to do the style. The other stylist came over and showed her which took up more time. Needless to say I did not get to pick up my daughter on time because she did not finished with me until 5 minutes to 8. Also missed another appointment scheduled for 5:30pm. I have never ever in my life had to have 5 hours taken out of my day to do my hair. EVER. Today is my birthday and it was going well until I had to be subjected to this. Although I did not show it because I like to keep things professional, I was LIVID!!!!! And to top it off the hair style is not even what I wanted but I kept it pushing because I had to get to my kid. She charged me full price and apologized for the wait but there was no accommodation whatsoever. I just said "it's fine", took my debit card and left. Usually I would still give some type of tip regardless, but not this time around. This was a nightmare that altered my mood for the rest of my birthday evening. read more

I didn't expect to spend 8 hrs in the salon just to get simple braids then to be over charged!!! Ridiculous never again! Really wish I read more reviews about this place... I have been trying to find a good hair salon to take care of my natural hair. I have extremely dry scalp and my hair was damaged from color and heat. Hakeem was great and listened to my concerns and worked with me and my hair. I got a haircut and a wash. My hair turned out soft and the shape is cute. Will definitely go back. read more

Ok so can you come here and leave with a great style? Yes. But expect a lack of professionalism from the staff. I've gone to Goldielocs on and off for a couple years and the staff is always the reason why I decide to stop going. Today I had an appointment at 7 AM. Waited an hour outside the salon and no one showed up. During previous visits, there is a stylist whose child is usually at the shop with her, and I wouldn't bat an eyelash if the child were more well behaved. I understand kids will be kids but I draw the line at being jumped on while waiting to get my hair done. Have also experienced a lack of punctuality with her too. Finally there have been other issues with a stylist (who is actually no longer there) not remembering what services I came in for, and then trying to blame me because she didn't set aside enough time for my appointment and was starting to run late for other clients. So all of that to say, just keep this in mind when you're booking! read more

Goldielocs without a doubt exceeded my expectations. This type of service took place from the first call of setting up my appointment, to the day of styling and rescheduling. I was assigned to Alex who would be guiding me on my loc journey by doing a retwist of my coils, and setting me up with the right knowledge and process to take my hair to it's adult loc stage. She was patient, answered questions I had, and even did a pre check in on my appointment to make sure we were still a go. Also note that there establishment was A-1. Clean, organized, and put together! I'm looking forward to my next appointment In three weeks! I highly recommend. My girlfriend tried to make an appointment with the salon. We had an important engagement to attend and needed an appointment. Multiple attempts to call and speak to somebody was to no avail. Once a person finally answered the phone they said they would get back to her and never did. Pretty unprofessional and i think they should run their business smoother. Now I'm stuck with an unhappy girlfriend at our event because her hair wasn't able to be done...we won't be attempting another appointment. read more

Would never go back...they need to work on their customer service. Made an appt with the stylist by the name of akeem. When I got there, I was told that another stylist by the name of bianca, with no further explanation will be doing my hair. Okay, no problem. I don't know if she was a shampoo girl or what, but while washing my hair she offered a treatment. It was an essential oil treatment, instead of putting a towel on my forehead or putting my head back she had me sitting straight up, causing the oil to get into my eyes, which then started to burn. She then decide to put the same oily hands and placed it over my eyes...smh I had to wash my eyes out with water to relieve the burning. Instead of her asking me if my eyes was okay, she asked me how does my head feel. There's a part of me that feel like this was done intentionally, because I don't understand how can you as a stylist make that mistake. Feel bad writing this cause the owner really tried to correct it, but i still would never return. First impression is the last impression. read more
