    3-meats: ribs, brisket, and sausage.

This is a poor example of BBQ!!! Ribs were tough, brisket I'm certain that it was microwaved, sausage was not even grilled. Place is pretty dirty too! I should have checked the reviews first!

Double meat of pork and brisket - probably steamed not real bbq, dry cabbage with little dressing & probably canned pork & beans.

We love southern BBQ. We've had smoked brisket and smoked pork all over the country. When we saw this restaurant just off of HWY 61, we made a special point to turn in and give it a try so we did. Sometimes bbq restaurants are also about the sides. We had their coleslaw. Or, maybe I should say, their dry cabbage. There wasn't enough dressing on the cabbage to even know if there was dressing. Needless to say, none of us wanted to eat dry cabbage. One person at our table ordered french fries. They weren't at all like the picture in one posted review. They were crinkled and probably frozen . We picked up a Goldie's brochure from another establishment. They advertise Texas BBQ. This isn't even close to Texas BBQ, There was no smoked flavor in either their pork or "brisket". Good Texas brisket is rubbed and smoked in a smoker for hours.. There was no smoked flavor and no bark on either pieces of meat. None. Zero. The pork very thin sliced just like deli meat. The brisket was sliced way too thin for brisket. BBQ pork and brisket are usually about 1/4" thick or so and not sliced like a deli slices meat. We ate part of it but it wasn't even really hot or had much flavor. Actually, it was probably the worst any of us had ever had. We asked the cashier where they smoke the meat. Guess what we learned? They don't smoke it. However, they do put it on their barbecue in back. We wondered if that was just to heat it. It mostly tasted steamed as there was no flavor. However, their advertisement indicated they add hickory meat. There was no hickory flavor in the meat at all and any taste was more the bbq sauce and not the meat. They advertise thick bbq sauce. It's very thin and not thick at all. However, we did like the bbq sauce but it still wasn't enough to turn bad bbq into good bbq. As others posted, the meat was swimming in sauce when served. That isn't Texas style either. The only thing we could figure why folks return here is that they order something other than the pork or brisket bbq. Or, maybe they don't really know what good bbq tastes like.

Rustic atmosphere. Conveniently located. Food is ok. Atmosphere is quiet. Service is good. I enjoy the country fried steak plate or the hamburger steak plate. The BBQ sausage plate is great. Sides are tasty and generous. Sweet tea is good.

I am used to dry rub BBQ. Had the pork and sauce was too sweet. Potato salad was kind of bland. Loved the fried pickles. Nice staff

Food is good. Service is great. I've had brisket both times I have been. It's a little wet. I've always had firmer meat

I am 100% convinced that the woman at the front did not want us at the restaurant. I'll just say that I'm a little on the "dark side" & my wife is from "further south". I don't know if she was an employee or the owner, because she didn't utter a word to us when we walked in. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. She was wearing an apron so I assume she was the chef. From the time my wife and I walked in, she glanced up, saw us, then did not make eye contact again. She didn't greet us or acknowledge our existence for a few minutes. We travel heavily throughout East Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, and Southwest Virginia for workk. This type of behavior is almost NEVER experienced by us when we frequent local businesses and restaurants. It must be something different out here in Mississippi... Didn't even matter that we were both wearing our Veterans hats, which we usually do when traveling through "certain areas" of the country. I can only imagine how she would have reacted if we had worn the hats of our home countries of Haiti & Colombia! Anyway, the young man that did service us was very polite and helpful. The brisket was exceptionally delicious, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The potato salad and the mac & cheese were a little under seasoned. We had to add some salt and pepper to make it better. The young man informed us that this was the first day that they were offering blackberry and blueberry topped parfaits. We also ordered one of those. It tasted delicious! My wife was very happy with it, and she is not a fan of sweets at all. All in all, it was a good meal that would have been great had there been a little more hospitality. This was our first time, so there may be some things that I missed. Maybe this is one of those Seinfeld "soup not-see" places. No chit chat. Just take your food and go. We will most likely order again on our way back, but I think I'll have to make a new DoorDash account so that my food doesn't get tampered with. I mean, that brisket was ON POINT! . It's the kind of eatery where the waitresses call you "baby" which is a respected Deep South Tradition. I ordered the 1/2 po boy & 1/2 gumbo lunch with a side dish (I chose baked potato salad) for $14. The food arrived about 10 minutes later. My sandwich was a grilled shrimp po boy on bread that tasted like it was from Gambino's. It was very good taste wise and I enjoyed it. Ditto on the cup of seafood gumbo with shrimp in it and with a good tasting roux too. Finally the baked potato salad was creamy, cool and flavorful. Altogether this was a very good meal. On the front door is a sign saying that they charge an extra 4% for credit card usage. Also, on my check were two prices, one for cash and the other for credit. While I detest restaurants that charge extra for credit card usage, I will give Gumbo Pot credit in that they clearly disclose that fee on the door and on the bill but I still hate it.
