Stopped in for late lunch/early dinner and was greeted by Big Bee himself. :D The aroma of BBQ in the air was inviting. I ordered the 2 meat plate (ribs and pulled pork) and hubby got the rib platter. Everything was delicious. Big Bee's family recipe BBQ sauce was great. Hubby said the Mac-n-Cheese was wonderful - cheesy and the noodles were not overdone. I had the BBQ baked beans and they were fantastic - not too sweet with chunks of meat in them - yum! We are doing a cross country drive this summer, visiting national parks, landmarks and little known treasured places. We were thrilled to have found this restaurant. It's far from fancy, but in our humble opinion it rates as high as the Chart House restaurant, at the Tower of the Americas in TX. We visited with Mr. Mike who shared of his family history in the area. We were excited to learn that his recipes are handed down from a few generations back. His kindness, friendliness, and warmth will not be forgotten. My daughter refers to Harmony as a "sweet friend" she made this summer, and hopes to visit again someday. His BBQ is outstanding! It was absolutely delicious! The homemade BBQ sauce was a recipe of the owners grandfather. He said they opened about 9 months prior and it is a family restaurant. I got a plate of Ribs, Barbeque baked beans, and potato salad. I have to say, the ride were tender, juicy, and perfectly smoked. The Baked beans were the BEST I've ever tasted. The potato salad was the only thing that didn't shine as bright, but still good. My daughter got the chicken and fries. I was surprised that the fries were seasoned and delicious. We were driving through the area and were enticed by the great reviews of Big Bees Barbeque. It did not disappoint! The food great! We had pulled pork, baked beans, cold slaw and "grandma's" potatoe salad. It was all prepared and served by Big Bee himself! We also enjoyed visiting with him while we ate our lunch! The bun was piled with moist, tender pork and just the right amount of sauce, which means nice and saucy, but they give you extra in case you want it. The cole slaw was fresh, crunchy and tangy. Big Bee's is a humble little restaurant run by a local family. The owner and his daughter were two of the nicest people I've ever met. I felt so welcomed and learned something about the local history and life in Vicksburg nowadays. I've been to the historic sites and museums in Vicksburg, but the people make the town, and these people are the best. They're good cooks, too! read more

Mike Gates and his family run the very small BBQ restaurant and the quality that comes from a family-owned business is evident. Skip the chain BBQs and find the little BBQ restaurant. It's small but it's exceptional BBQ with homemade sides. I had the rib ends and got enough for lunch and dinner. The sides I had were BBQ baked beans and potato salad. It was more than I could eat and the flavor was just perfect. Mike's homemade BBQ sauce was perfect - not full of sugar and not too spicy. My wife had the pulled pork and again, more than she could eat. She had the green beans and cole slaw, all homemade. It was a great break from the mediocre food you get right off the highway. Big Bee's BBQ is about 2-1/2 miles north of I-20 from exit 1C, just inside the MS-TX border. Service was great as was the friendly conversation we had with owner, Mike. It made the stop and short drive worth every second. And the prices were more than fair. Do yourself and family a favor and stop at Big Bee's BBQ restaurant and grill. read more

Make no mistake, Goldie's--Vicksburg's most widely known barbecue place--is darn good. And they do have more extensive/convenient opening hours. But if you want the *best* BBQ in town--and at the best prices--Big Bee's is the one, hands down. Great ribs lovingly cooked, excellent sides, super friendly folks. I've eaten at loads of really good barbecue places across the South, and Big Bee's is a solid 4.5 on the BBQ front. Bee's is a must have when in Vicksburg! We stopped in on our cross country road trip, and while it may not look like much, the food packs the flavor. I was amazed by the quality and flavor of the ribs, and the baked beans are also a must try. The ribs had a certain smoky quality that I loved, as well as being fall off the bone delicious!
