We hired attorney Nicole Torres during what became an incredibly stressful real estate transaction. We were facing serious inspection concerns, including extremely high radon levels, and were desperately trying to understand our rights and protect nearly $40,000 deposit being held of our hard-earned money. Instead of feeling reassured and guided through the process, we felt increasingly anxious and confused. We repeatedly asked questions because we were genuinely scared of making the wrong decision and losing our deposit. Rather than feeling like we had an advocate in our corner, we often felt dismissed when we questioned the advice we were being given. We were advised that our inspection contingency had expired (we later learned it had not) and that our deposit could be at risk if we did not continue moving forward. We were also led to believe that the radon issues did not give us grounds to terminate the contract as it was "not part of the inspection process" and that we had signed a contract "for inspection only". As buyers trying to navigate a complicated situation, we relied heavily on her advice and guidance. What was most disappointing was that when we expressed concerns or asked follow-up questions, we did not feel heard. The conversations often left us feeling more intimidated than informed. Eventually, our discomfort became so significant that we sought alternate legal counsel because we no longer felt confident that our interests were being fully protected. The second opinion we received gave us a very different understanding of our contractual rights and deadlines, including the ability to terminate the contract and get our deposit back, which proved that the advice we received from her was not accurate and would have cost us $40,000!!!

Just sold our home of the last 25 years, which is only the third house sale we have had in the last 40+ years, so a little rusty on the details required. We stumbled upon Dorner Law on Yelp review. We contacted multiple attorney's offices around the same time, but Hillery was not only friendly and helpful, but also very knowledgeable and approachable. She was patient and answered our questions even before we were their clients. We decided to stay with them and feel comfortable and confident to leave our case with her. I worked as admin in a real estate office for 6 years and there are all kinds of real estate lawyers... I've witnessed some lousy ones who contributed to deals going bad. But Hillery is a GREAT one! I could not believe how promptly and thoroughly she and her smart team got back to my myriad of questions, and I was acting as my boyfriend's agent (having never done so before) so I had plenty of questions... Since we are closing in WEEKS, I had to escalate this myself...and after LOTS of redirecting phone calls, I finally got Mass Housing to help me. I cannot believe the ineptitude of their services - how can you pay off TWO mortgages, but only discharge ONE?!?!?! Be warned - if you hire this law firm, be prepared to double check to make sure they ACTUALLY finish the job.
