There are many shops/restaurants around, and I have been to their spa. I tried to stay at the hotel for a weekend when I was coming into Lafayette again, and the communication is absolutely horrible. I called 4 or 5 times--left messages with no call back, and once I finally did get in touch with someone they said hello and hung up on me. I went to book online also and their site kept giving me glitches. 4 stars for the area, but really only 1 star star for the communication. Don't know if it is better service once you actually are able to book a room.

I was in Lafayette for business last week and was looking to try out a local CF box while here. I…read moreattempted to call CF Amis but didn't get an answer so i just dropped in about 45m before the class i intended to workout in. The owner saw me walk in and spent the next 5-10m welcoming me, discussing my background, getting the obligatory waiver signed, and accepting my drop-in fee of a T-shirt purchase. Many boxes have gotten away from doing the "buy a t-shirt to cover your drop-in" and i miss it. If you didn't need a T they had a very reasonable $15 fee as a backup. I have been crossfitting for about 8 years, have 4 different CF certifications, and have coached 1000's of hours at multiple affiliates and worked-out at dozens of others under numerous coaches. The coach of my class at Amis (Jeremy) was among the best i have ever experienced. He was attentive, knowledgeable, gave excellent cues, and put together enough extra-curricular stuff to keep us busy for the entire hour. Too many coaches i've worked-out under in recent years are clock watchers or spend the whole workout playing with their phones and this was definitely not the case here. The gym itself is massive by CrossFit box standards and they have sufficient equipment to accommodate a wide variety of CF programming. On the topic of programming i looked at a few of their WODs on their website and of course performed what was programmed when i was there, and they seem to really know their stuff. There are a lot of pretty & polished CF gyms with the latest and greatest equipment that have garbage programming and it was refreshing to find a place that seemed to have their priorities straight...great coaching, welcoming environment/atmosphere, and excellent programming. I only did one workout here, but it definitely won't be my last and i recommend anyone in the area give it a try.
