Gym itself isn't bad, with decent staff. I would rather go with a gym who cares about you. If you ever want to cancel your membership that goes through an external company which is an absolute nightmare. This gym is disgusting. Immediately walking in the door, you are hit with a sweaty dirty stench in the air. That smell is there every single day. In the bathrooms, everything looks run down, toilet seats need to be replaced, tightened. One of the soap dispensers is broke. The cardio area is disgusting (see pics). The machines are rusty from sweat, have sweat streaks all over them, garbage left in the cup holders, old and broken. There is someone that goes around changing the garbage bags and refilling the sanitizer cleaner for the machines throughout the business. That's the only thing I see this guy do. Mind you he's a contract cleaner. Never have I ever seen an actual employee clean a thing. The only thing I see is a "part owner" walk around like he's "inspecting" things when in reality he's inspecting the women that are there. That's why all of the machines, bathrooms and the air stink. It's so gross! Overall, this gym has one leg in the grave and it can't help itself out. It's like that hotel you think will be fine until you open the door. I will never renew my membership! The gym is consistently dirty, and the equipment is old and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, the owner's behavior is unsettling, and they even allow dogs in the gym, which raises hygiene concerns. Been going to this gym for several years now and the new management is letting the gym fall to ruin. Instead if fixing machines they are removing them, leaving less opportunity to utilize some of the more popular machines that are difficult to access due to their popularity. Also, seems like they are trying to cut costs by using tiny fans everywhere and running the A/C hotter than they should. I cannot do cardio without walking across the gym to grab a fan to place directly in front of the treadmill. It is too hot and stuff in there. The only reason I continue to workout at this location is for the community. Lots of good people who workout here and have worked out here long before the current management. read more

The AC is not working at all. There is no air circulation which is a concern for those with health issues or just beginning an exercise program. The AC has been a concern for this gym for a long time however, when this is addressed or brought up to the manager, he acts like this is not an issue and he thinks it feels great totally trying to undermine the issue and the members. There are only 2 big fans circulating air but one is usually places towards the cycle room because it's worse there. If the AC issue is not going to be addressed, more fans need to be placed around the gym. Equipment breaks and it's not fixed or replaced. Why are we paying maintenance fees? After suffering a back injury and still in recovery mode, the opportunity to try out Gold's Gym vs my usual favorite mainstage gym at Planet Fitness came about. I decided to try this Concord location as I heard that it was recently renovated.  This location is fabulous. I must say my experiences at this location have been phenomenal. Gold's gyms have much of the newest state-of-the-art equipment, coupled with traditional gym favorites such as free weights, benches, treadmills, ellipticals and other machines to really get your sweat dropping. I totally enjoyed golds vs Planet Fitness for the additional equipment choices like ropes, kettlebells, and other stuff that offer a wide range of flexibility and diversity to your workout.  I have yet to branch into some of the classes that they have available such as spinning, nor taking full advantage of the fitness trainers available on site but I will,  as my objective is to get back into a level of fitness and health since my injury.  Thanks goal for the introductory period to explore what you have available, in fact I'm heading that way now. read more

First time back at this golds 1/22/17 due to waiting on something to finally change and I will say because I'm not one who only sees the negative in things. The changes that have been made are dramatic since last visit a few months back! Once complete this will be a nicer facility than it's ever been before. Thanks Golds for making changes.. Old: We have all been told the new changes would start and we have seen nothing but cameras. Cliff along with other management say every week that it's going to be soon every single time. I hate to leave such a review but they told me the reason I had to start paying 20 a month is because it was not going to be a $10 gym anymore. Well several months later it's still the same gym. I opened a membership with Gods gym in 2018. I cancelled the membership in January 2019. I have all the paper work that they provided me that proofs that my account has been canceled yet they keep billing me for it. I contacted the Golds Gym in several occasion, I spoke with different managers the financial department yet they don't stop charging my account. Why do you people steal money from others it's been 10 months of them taking my money without any authorization. People don't sign up for this gym they will continue to steal your money even after you cancelled the membership. read more

Love this gym, been going here for the past 7ish month and don't have any big complaints overall. Here recently a lot of machines have been "under maintenance" and haven't been fixed. Pretty much all the leg machines are unusable and have been so for over a week, I would like to be able to hit legs for christs sake. read more

I may have to change gyms due to the declining conditions at the facility. I was there recently and was sweating before my workout began due to a lack of air conditioning. Additionally, some of the equipment in substandard. I like that its open 24/7, but the door is not locked any more so there is no need to display your key tag to gain entry. I walked into the gym not having a membership and I wanted to start my mine that day and the manager was there and he set up my membership. Come to find out he signed me up for a two year contract with golds didn't ask me if that's what I wanted just signed me right up. I have moved more than 25 miles away and I didn't go to the gym anymore bc I have back issues. I later got a doctors note saying how I ineligible to workout on a regular basis, so after finally contacting the third party and calling the gym and leaving messages and showing proof of a doctors note and being 25+ miles away they still never canceled my membership and to this day I'm still paying for it 50 a month to a gym I don't even go to. Went in to Golds looking for a new gym. I was greated by Kaveh when I entered. I asked questions about the gym. I was disappointed that there is no pool. He gave me a tour and explained the machines and classes. I did sign up. He set me up with a consult with a trainer for being a new member. I am excited to take some classes and use the equipment. I love going to this gym. It's always clean, the janitorial staff is amazing. Everyone who works here is great too! The renovations took far too long to have done, but so far things are looking good. Hope they continue them because there is still a lot of equipment that needs updating. read more

I did not have any type of good experience at Gold's Gym Concord from customer service to management. I tried to cancel the membership within the first two weeks of signing up due to an unexpected scheduling conflict which was going to keep me from being able to use the facility as anticipated. Just be warned - If you sign up, be prepared to pay out your full contract if you wish to cancel the membership. Other than the three day recession period, you are stuck paying for the full term. Had I know that, I would have never signed up to begin with. I guess that is why the sales person that signed up me and my son did not tell me that. Her getting a commission was more important than being forthright and fully disclosing their cancellation terms with a potential customer. I would not recommend signing up with this gym. read more

Before the merge from Club Fitness to Gold's Gym this place was the best in town. Since the merge there has been nothing good. Equipment is bad and need replaced and I just feel bad going in. It seems they need a make over and quick. I talked with Sharon, and she said that they will have new stuff in soon and remodeled. This is great news. If it becomes like some of the other Gold Gyms out there, this place will be good. but until then, it is not. I did have a hard time canceling, however, Sharon was able to help me out and get everything back in good order with the company, which is part of the reason I reviews this as a A-OK Review. I am extremely upset with this Gold's gym. I have a membership at a Gold's gym in another city. As you all may know, you have 15 days to go to a gym that is out of town. So, I go to this one in Concord. It is required that they keep your driver's license while working out. Once I was done, I accidently forgot to get my license. The next morning, I go up there to get my license and they misplaced it. Not only did they lose it, but they also made minimum efforts to find it. I asked if they could call the employee that took it in the first place to see if she may have it. He said, "well she wouldn't just take it, you'll have to see once she comes in tomorrow." He told me they would reimburse me if I must get a new one. Okay cool, that is fine. The next day comes and it's still nowhere to be found. I asked about the reimbursement again, but his tone changed. He brought up the fact that I could have misplaced it. I told him he can literally check the video footage of me giving it to an African American female employee and leaving never to return back to the desk. He then said that they have their own reasons to review video footage. I then asked can I speak to someone about this. He said "you are speaking to him. I am the GM." I then asked if I could contact the gym's owner, since that's who he would have to ask to reimburse me. He said, "we do not give out the owner's number over the phone." I am so over it. I know a replacement DL is cheap, but I work 45minutes out of town and I wouldn't want to get pulled over. I would have to be ID less until a new one comes in the mail and this is the fault of a careless employee and a GM with a "I could care less" attitude. I have been a member of Gold's gym since 2015 and I planned on making this one my home gym since I moved to Concord. However, Gold's gym has official lost my membership, my boyfriend's, my child's childcare, and any of my friend's membership. read more

I joined this gym before it was bought by Gold's. There were issues with broken equipment, leaking ceilings, etc. For the year or more we kept hearing "changes were coming" but saw very little improvement other than fixing some machine & new spin bikes. What kept me going back were the AWESOME fitness class instructors. My family was transferred in May to Florida & I am STILL trying to get my memberships cancelled. Dealing with the incompetent front desk staff & financial company handling the memberships has been completely infuriating & the "Operations Director" is a joke - no returning phone calls or emails. I would avoid this place like the plague if I were you - the stress & frustration isn't worth it! read more

I started going to Golds Gym a year ago, right after the merge. In the past year I have discovered a few things that others need to be aware of before signing a contract with this gym. First off, they claim having a daycare onsite in which you can put your child in for 2 hours a day while you work out. This was a huge bonus to me at first, until I was informed that they are not allowed to change diapers. So be prepared to pay a higher monthly rate for the "daycare", and also be interrupted during your workout to go and change your child. Secondly, every week more and more equipment is breaking and never being replaced. A year after the merge they are just now making changes, by painting and doing stone work. Properly functioning equipment is far more important to me than some fancy new interior design, and it has been rumored that there are no plans for new equipment as of last month. Finally, it is just flat out not worth the money. I pay for broken equipment,dirty tanning beds that don't tan,and a daycare that can't change diapers. I am not even going to go into the personal training through Golds Gym, just know it's a headache and be sure to read ALL fine print of your contract before signing anything because I was flat out lied to! At this point I just want to cancel but when I asked what my options were I was told the manager was in Las Vegas and that no one could help me. read more
