There is someone that goes around changing the garbage bags and refilling the sanitizer cleaner for the machines throughout the business. That's the only thing I see this guy do. Mind you he's a contract cleaner. Never have I ever seen an actual employee clean a thing. The only thing I see is a "part owner" walk around like he's "inspecting" things when in reality he's inspecting the women that are there. That's why all of the machines, bathrooms and the air stink. It's so gross! Overall, this gym has one leg in the grave and it can't help itself out. It's like that hotel you think will be fine until you open the door. I will never renew my membership! Yuck!

I didn't love the treadmills as much as I like the ones in Albemarle. I do a lot of circuits so I often sprint and then walk, and the treadmills at this location take a little too long to slow down or speed up. Due to the crowd size the location isn't the cleanest but its not terrible. We tried the hydromassage chair and my husband said that's the only thing he liked lol. One of the hydro chairs is broken and shuts off halfway through. The team is aware of it so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Therefore, if you're looking for classes where you can get fit and everyone will fit in, then this might be your place. The only negative is the dumbbell section. Since so much room is given to the open area in the middle, there isn't much room leftover for free weights. When I was there, there was only one other guy using the dumbbells and I barely had any room. If you're looking for group classes, machines, or cardio, this is probably the ideal location for you. So I think this YMCA is really good in some ways, but less good in others. The front desk is really friendly and the cardio has Netflix, and had my sign in details, so that was good. On the other hand, they have big Jesus posters on the wall, and putting a banner in the cardio is lame. And there are a few issues such as are the kids coming around and cleaning the machines in the middle of the workout, and they were spraying their bottles and sweeping up dust and literally I could smell dust, made me sneeze, almost cough, during cardio, and literally I got sprayed (ew) with a little bit of spray (ew) but that's not the kids fault because they are being instructed to do so by the boss here, who was following them around, ordering them to clean more. They should be doing that when no one is working out because that's why we pay more than enough. And that stuff is toxic AF and it shouldn't be sprayed near me... let alone making me wet from spray... during my cardio. On the good side: The shower pressure is a huge thing and I appreciate that, even though a lot of the lockers are disappointingly reserved for members. It could easily have received a 3 star for the religion in my face and spray on my body and dust up my nose, but I'll generously give 4 because it was an otherwise good facility. I primarily stick to…read moreusing their expansive gym, but it's also a nice treat in this cold weather to use their indoor jogging track above the basketball courts (16 laps to a mile). Like most (or may all) YMCA's they also serve complimentary coffee in the mornings! Also super friendly staff!
