I joined GG in February 2025, leaving the SportsClub Greenville (now ACAC) after 17 years. I like the robust design of the GG cable machines, something that ACAC decided to eliminate. The GG front desk staff are great. The GG trainers will not look you in the eye, much less say "hello." The housekeeping staff is always friendly. The posted rules for the fitness floor and the (mens) locker room are not enforced. I mentioned this to the outgoing GM whose response was "oh, well." The rules that are mostly ignored are (1) talking loudly on a mobile phones, (2) using cameras in the locker room in front of the mirror, (3) using fitness machines and locker room benches as lounge chairs to fidget with a mobile phones and (4) dropping weights to create the macho appearance. The attachments for the cable machines are never organized in a place where you expect them to be. The machine maintenance is "run to failure," with no apparent preventive maintenance being done. I reported a noisy pulley on a cable machine that was blessed off by the staff as "so what, it works." The mens showers are missing handles and shower heads. The spa is never expected to work again. The parking is ample, and access to Wade Hampton Blvd and Locust HIll Rd is easy (heading south toward I-85 is tricky). Regardless, I renewed my yearly membership because the rate is reasonable, and GG is only 3.5 miles from my home. read more

I recently moved to Greenville. When I started going to this gym, I absolutely loved it! The classes are really great when they happen. That's right when they happen. Seems there's a problem and the teachers don't know when to show up or what they're teaching. They're changing the schedule and although there's a schedule online, that's very clear, the teachers don't seem to be aware of it. We show up for the classes and the instructors don't. One instructor always shows up 10 minutes late. I've spoken to other people who take our classes regularly and this one instructor is always late. One instructor, Katie, is great! She shows up early, she's prepared for her class. She instructions really well and she gives very clear instructions. The instructor that shows up late, her name is Angie. She's enthusiastic and a good teacher, but being chronically late is really wrong. Instructors need to show up early and be there before the class starts. Not walk in after the class should've started and first get set up. And today the third instructor didn't even know that she had a class to teach. She showed up for a class that doesn't exist anymore and then didn't show up for the class that does exist. Sadly, those of us showed up for class and had to keep going up to the front counter to find out what was going on. And no point did anyone come into the class and explain that there was a confusion on the instructors end and there would be no class, we all had to keep going up to the front desk. 20 minutes after the class should have started after asking the manager she said no there is no class today due to the confusion. But again, no one bothered to come into the room until all of us waiting around for a class to start that it wasn't happening today. One of the class members said she's looking for a new gym. I have been using this gym for a little over a year. About a month ago, I'm in the women's locker and I'm getting undressed to take a shower. I workout before I go to work. As I'm walking to the shower in only my towel and shower shoes I walk right into (not literally) a male cleaning person. As uncomfortable this was I went ahead and showered and got ready as per usual. I spoke with the woman at the front desk who asked me if I saw the sign? As if this is my fault. I explain to her that I was in the locker room before the cleaning guy arrived so no, I didn't see a sign. I know I was in there before the cleaning guy because I heard him come in. I just thought it was the usual cleaning woman. An amazing, sweet woman who sadly doesn't work there anymore. It seemed like this was corrected and there is now a female cleaning person. this is wonderful!! Well last week I am once again getting ready for work at one of the mirrors doing my hair and makeup. Im standing there in just a bra and pants when I see behind me the same front desk woman walk a man right through the women's locker room! He made eye contact with me in the mirror. I was furious to say the least. There should be some sense of safety and privacy in the women's locker room. No one called out to say a man would be walking through. Well I spoke to the woman at the front desk and asked to speak with the gym manager (I know, I hate it too). Well there was a guy there who was some sort of manager and when I explained what happened and why I was upset they both looked at me like I had grown a second head. The front desk woman explained that it was the fire marshal, as if that matters. I wouldn't have cared if he walked through if she had done her job and made sure everyone was as covered as they are comfortable with. So now I am trying to cancel my membership, I refuse to return. i should feel safe at my gym. Well now im being told I have to still pay for June and July. If you are comfortable with this then this gym may be for you. Everything else about the place I adored. I'm really sad to be leaving but I can't go back. My safety and privacy mean more to me than any gym. read more

Personal training is elder abuse. They have no clue how to work with people over 65 with back nerve damage or any other injury. Sell a big talk but made my back sting and regress to worse than when started. After 5 days I've tried to cancel yet they want me to pay the entire six months. Nothing but a sales scam. Looked for a gym to use until we left the area in January. Golds was $30 a month, no other fees (aka Planet Fitness). Main floor never feels crowded, they have both free and add on classes, locker rooms are clean, and hours are great. Just had to give notice, and again easy to cancel as long as a few days prior to your last desired auto withdrawal date. Definitely going to return when we come back. read more

I purchased a groupon for a month free, but called the gym in Greer to make sure they would honor it. I was told yes, so I went ahead and bought it. However, when I showed up in person, a female (name tag said general manager) said they would not honor it. She told me that I could sign up for a free day pass. So, at least that saved me from actually joining this gym and being stuck with very poor customer service. read more

They drafted nearly a $100 out of my bank account after MOVING OUT OF THE STATE they refused to cancel my membership. I'm out of town and decided to stop in for a quick workout. Unlike my home club, everything is shut down. The showers have had the knobs removed. The sauna was shut down. They don't have a bottle refilling station. The club itself looks nice. I'll bet it was before they went overboard with the COVID hysteria. read more

I love this place. I was very spoiled by the gym at my university and I really struggled for a couple years to find a gym that was kind of comparable that wasn't going to cost me a couple of hundred every month. I have tried their spin class and it is fantastic! The facilities are always clean, and I swim about 4-5 times per week and the pool is never too crowded when I go. The staff has always been friendly to me as well which is always a huge plus. Overall, I don't really think I'll ever change gyms (they are also right next to my house so there is no need). I will say, however, the gym is family friendly (which is amazing for you parents out there!) but they do allow children over 11 in the weight and cardio areas so anywhere between 5:30 pm and bedtime, expect to see (sometimes) entire families out there. I am not particularly crazy about waiting on teens be done playing around on a bench that I need so I normally hit the gym after 9pm or before 6:30am. read more

Get gym with great equipment and friendly staff. They also have a pretty nice pool, sauna, etc. Best of all, the place is always spotless.

Only good thing I can say about this Gold's Gym is that it's clean. But it only opened 2 months ago. The TV audio system never functioned properly, even after several complaints from members and you have to fight over parking spaces after 5:00. The personal trainers are not friendly nor knowledgeable and they only offer 3 aerobics classes that are not an extra charge. The Manager is rude and when I had an issue, he wasn't at all willing to discuss how my needs could be better met at this location. However he did try to sell me on personal training which is not what I need. They are only concerned about the bottom dollar. Not how to truly help their members reach their goals. I was also mislead regarding my contract when I signed up. Obviously honesty and transparency are not priorities either. Bottom line, I would not recommend this gym if you are looking for a friendly and helpful atmosphere read more

We started going to the Greer Gold's because they have the kids club. When they reopened last summer, they didn't open the kids club. The local daycares and many other gyms in the area are offering childcare options. When asked if this location will open their kids club, the staff always has the same answer "we haven't heard anything from management if we will open it again." This seems to be at best a major communication issue on the management's part and more likely just a way to keep stringing guests along with the hopes of the kids club opening in the future. There is no good reason to keep the kids club closed. With how many people are in the gym and the lack of masks (staff and guests), using COVID as an excuse to not open the kids club is ridiculous. If the parents feel comfortable enough to bring their kids in, let them. I had correspondence with the general manager and he essentially said he doesn't know if it will open ever again. We generally like this gym, but the wife and I will be looking to be a member any of the other gyms in the area that actually offer childcare if they do not reopen kids club soon. read more

Kids center is so nice! The ladies love on my daughter (and all the other kiddies) so much. I never think that she is not getting what she needs, or is desperately waiting my return. She is two, so she is more than ready to leave after her hour playing, but she warmed up quick. The front desk staff is great as well. No problems so far. It's nice seeing the staff working out after, before or days off. Makes it feel a little more comfortable in the gym seeing so many familiar faces. Even though I never talk to anyone. Even when it's packed you can always get your entire workout in. Plenty of space. I would say my only complain is that the community of the gym is rather messy. They move chairs and benches around daily. And never put them back into a reasonable home. The dumbbell area is always jammed up with awkwardly placed benches. Making it super inconvenient for new awkward gym goers to know where to stand in the mirror area. read more

I worked out regularly at the Golds Gym on S. Pleasantburg. Due to Covid-19, they closed this location and I assumed they would end my membership and that was it. But instead, they transferred my membership to Greer (40 MINUTES AWAY FOR ME). No phone call or anything, stating what was going on or what I would like to do from this point on. I called to get this canceled and refunded but I get hit with the typical "sorry there's nothing we can do. Can't refund you." I have been getting charged up until this point. This is an absolute joke and so many people are already struggling during this time. They take advantage and try to grab anything they can. Terrible customer service, management, corporate, etc. I've heard many stories like this occurring and they do not look out for their members at all. Would not recommend to anyone. Find a local gym and support them. read more

Great facilities, Personal training staff is fantastic. WHEN YOU CANCEL THE ACCOUNT BECUSE YOU ARE MOVING FOR WORK THEY WILL LIE, RIP YOU OFF AND THEN REPORT YOU TO CREDITORS. Because I was moving for work went in to the Golds and canceled my account agreeing to pay the next month because it was out of my thirty days. I asked that my membership be dropped from the amount I was paying for personal training to a standard access membership and completed my cancellation of service. I did eat the cost of 2-3 personal training sessions but that was fine. I was told "No problem" and "if there was a problem they would call me" Mind you I had no contracts all my services were pay in advance month to month. well while moving I I get a bill for well over $300 so I call into the gym, They say they have the message and will call me back. I am trying to figure out why my bill is over $300 because THERE IS NOT A SERVICE THEY OFFER THAT COSTS THAT MUCH ALSO ALL MY BILLING WAS UP TO DATE ON AUTO-DRAFT!!! so I proceed to call them again. Still told they have the message and they will be contacting me shortly. FIVE TIMES I CALLED IN AND LEFT MESSAGES! since they do not want to talk to me I canceled the auto draft payment from my credit card. Now they reported me to debt collectors. Now you want to put me on blast for your crookedness this is going onto any review site I can find as well as your corporate and to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I felt it needs to be shared what an AWESOME job John at this gym is doing. I am new to the area and while touring this Gold's I witnessed John helps everyone- front staff and members. I commended him at what a high pressure job he is in but he handles it well. John is also very humble, which is a surprise, most big guys are not but John is not like the rest, which is refreshing. His passion is fitness and it shows with how he speaks to people - members and coworkers. He made me feel like I belong at Gold's, he is a great employee and I hope Gold's recognizes him as they should - thanks to whoever hired John ---- A++ Employee you have there! read more

I went in and closed my account after calling and learning it had to be it had to be in person! They are STILL billing me! Do NOT join this gym, I repeat, do NOT JOIN THIS GYM! They charge more than they verbally tell you (I have a reliable witness & they don't allow you to cancel despite only a 3 month contract). We will be making ANOTHER to talk to them. I've never experienced a gym that catered less to me or my needs. Of course, when I first visited, the sales person made all the promises: it's only $29.99/month, the classes are nearly empty, you can get into a coaching session within days and you'll love the pool classes. I had been billed $39.99 each month and didn't realize it for 5 months bc I don't manage the accounts, my husband does. However, Golds doesn't care! The class sizes weren't too bad, but... anyone walking past could enjoy the view of your backside! Coaching session?!? Sure, it was scheduled-for me, not the coach! I sat and waited and one of the trainers searched for the coach and 20 minutes later they determined the coach was never scheduled!! Pool classes, the main reason I chose Golds... water aerobics was no dancing or typical aerobic class and water Zumba?!? Absolutely NOT Zumba! Horrible customer service . The managers there are not professional at all. They promise one thing and do the other . I closed my account few months back in person, but they keep on charging me. I called few times and they promise to figure out what is going on and to call me back and no one is calling back. Ok.. so staff were rude when it came to canceling my membership. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I was misled about contract terms so don't sign anything until you've memorized that contract or you'll be disappointed if you want to cancel. Even the trainers and employees are not knowledgeable of their own policies.The whole process of me canceling the contract was a nightmare. Manager was awfully rude. I really wanted to like this place but they don't care about you and don't care to make sure you're satisfied with the gym and staff at the end of the day. The trainers and facilities were nice; however, management staff are liars and most recently crooks. I had cancer last year and since I couldn't cancel my membership in person I paid for 6+ months of membership when I couldn't come in. I finally was able to cancel in person in the Fall and asked about the personal training sessions I had paid for and hadn't used. After checking, I was told I had 13 sessions remaining. I attended 2 or 3 sessions when I found out I had to have a 3rd surgery. I notified the trainer, however he never responded. Since I had cancelled my membership I wasn't concerned. Fast forward from Nov 2018 to April 2019 and I noticed a draft by Gold's Gym from my checking account. I called and asked why they drafted my account and was told that it was to cover my monthly membership. I was truly surprised since my membership had been cancelled for over 6 months. I asked how this could happen and why suddenly was I being charged? I was told that they had been pulling the funds from my personal training sessions I had paid because THEY had not cancelled my membership, which by the way I have the signed cancellation form. They didn't offer to reinstate my personal training sessions they had siphoned my funds from; however, they said they would put the money back into my checking account. Isn't this STEALING? SHOULDN'T THIS BE ILLEGAL? They act like they've done nothing wrong. If there was a way to give them negative Stars I would! Wonder who pocket this money went into? read more

I was disappointed that after being a member for 6 months they still have not resolved the ability to listen to tv stations. Also I felt any complaints I had went unreported. It seemed most of the staff only cared about working their shift and not about the customer. Upon leaving I was informed they required me to pay one more month. While they may or may not mentioned this when I joined, they didn't the week last week when I mentioned about leaving. Also, in order to change plans to a lower one they wanted me to pay 50 more. They seem far more interested in making money than serving the customer. There are other gyms which are far more helpful and less expensive in the area read more

Worst gym in Greer. The new manager Daniel is a joke. These staff members are the clueless in customer service. I can say the actual instructors are great. I will tell everyone I know to not waste their time. They will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to sign up then change the rules as they go. I don't have a problem with rules or regulations but when someone signs up and ask a question and you give them a direct answer that's the way it should be. I have never encounter someone so unprofessional in my life never saw a manager that thinks he is some big shot talking to a women any kind of way. When I was trying to walk away from the situation he was following me out the door running his mouth. Anytime fitness is right next door buddy I will be glad to pay my $50 dollars a month somewhere else. read more
