I like the gym, it's not congested like others and you can go in and do what you have to do however the manager Kaitlyn is very rude , when greeted she did not greet back, she was 0 friendly .. she also was the one to sign me up on the 1 year contract , my 1 year contract is done and she told me that the pricing was supposed to change to 19.99 biweekly but it's remained the same as it was with the 1 year contract 21.99, I'm not going to argue about a few dollars but she is now saying she NEVER said that She is rude , part of her job is to answer any questions a customer may have & I don't think she likes her job. read more

I have been going to Anytime fitness for a year now. I am not sure why people give one star reviews, this place has everything essential for a good workout. The owner is personable, my trainer Natalie goes above and beyond for planning my fitness regimen. Austin is a great help and gives pointers. The facility is very clean and the janitor is always around making sure it stays that way. The equipment is well maintained. The facility is fine. People are friendly but this is a place to workout not to socialize. To socialize there are classes to take. I personally like the one-on-one fitness training. Everyone is welcome, no judgment here. First off I'd like to say Anytime Fitness has great workout equipment and are always extremely clean and have nice bathrooms and showers. That's the only reason this review is getting two stars. However. To me it's not worth it for the terrible service (and I'm not talking about the trainers, they're really really great people, especially Austin he's an awesome guy). There's a girl who works in the office I believe her name is Kaitlyn, who went through the sign up process with me in January of last year. I was specifically told that to get the "January deal of 2022" I HAD to sign a YEAR long contract. I was hesitant about the one year being that it was $45 a month, but excited to get a membership because I knew several people who enjoyed the gym equipment and the location was convenient. So I agreed. Well this month of 2023, I knew I was coming up on my year "contract" so I wanted to cancel my membership because I switched gyms due to the price difference and being able to have a month to month plan. WELL. To my surprise, I called AF to cancel my membership, and the girl who answered the phone (the same girl who signed me up last year) said, "Oh you could have canceled at any point, you were not in a one year contract." Um. What?! Infuriated, confused, and MAD I got off the phone. I didn't even try to argue. Hundreds of dollars thrown away because I was told by this girl i HAD to do a one year contract. Unbelievable. I've never met the owner, but I've heard nice things about him and he seems like a good person. He should definitely know that these types of lies are occurring at his business and it's quite upsetting. It's a great gym, it just needs better office employees so there is complete transparency with prospective customers. I am so disappointed. I called for information and instead of greeting me back, I was asked what I need without any friendliness. As I enquired for information, I was not given and instead told I need to come between a set hours. I suggested to come now and was told I cannot but that I must come between those times, and did so without any empathy or remorse, or emotion. I posed my confusion, and that how it works, and it seems strange why it is so early and why she cannot help me right now. Instead of apologising or saying something to that effect, she insisted those are the office hours and as I was in the middle of asking one more question, I was hung up on. The person to have answered the phone was disrespectful and did not have any emotion in her phone. Regardless of timing, respect being hung up and not given respect nor interest to answer questions by a representative of a company, whose job it is to fulfill growth and is the face of the company by being in the voicemail at that, is the last thing I would have expected. Being an out of state resident I asked the woman who helped me sign up if it would make canceling my membership difficult, she said no just bring a piece of mail showing your address changed. I was lied to about the length of my contract. The facility is dirty and the people are mean. When I was signing up there was a woman complaining that her daughter moved out of state and they wouldn't terminate her contract, I looked at the woman doing mine and said if its going to be like this I don't want to sign up. Best fitness facility in Greer period. The only gym with multiple cages, so the people who want to lift "safely" don't have to wait on some talkative kid. Golds only has one! Mature atmosphere, clean and laid back. Sure no free pizza and not ten bucks a month! Beware the staff actually wants you to get fit and be a regular here. Just like any other business the staff creates the atmosphere and delivers the service. These people deliver a quality service in a way that even makes a middle aged out of shape man like me feel comfortable and confident. You can tell it's a different place as soon as you walk in. I've been a member for 10 years. I ended my contract and started it again in 2017. And I must say I haven't had any problems until now. During the pandemic I was told we would not be charged, when in fact I was. For the month of May!! We recently tried to use the facility and our entry was revoked. I was told that I owed payments for three months, which would be May June and now!? Mays payment that wasn't suppose to be taken from my account was move to June, that's what I was told. So the rude lady on the phone said that she didn't see anything like that but then said she saw something but it didn't have notes and that I owe for three months which isn't true! That I needed to renew May contract and that they sent my past due to collections!!! And I'm confused because I had been using the facility all this time! She was rude and talked over me most of the conversation! The new management is horrible!! And trying to collect payment due to COVID-19 and ate trying to force us to pay for the facility when it could not be used. That is ridiculous!!! They lied! They have my banking information and it's on auto payment! No excuses as to why they decided not to take the payment for July! Because June was taken care of! When the new owners switched everything to month to month they said everyone automatically is on a month to month unless we decide to end the contract! So if you're thinking about going to this gym? I know 5 Stars seems like a bit much but this facility is really awesome. I was sold when I walked through the doors and saw the equipment as well as the layout. Every inch of the facility is purposed to help you achieve your fitness goals. While I haven't taken any classes yet, I noticed that there are a wide assortment of options available. Lastly, the support staff are extremely attentive and go the extra mile to really make you feel welcomed. I don't know how they always look so happy; then again---- when you were in an amazing facility---- what's there to be down about. This is the most dubious gym I've ever had to deal with ; people are practically forced to stay signed on even when they don't need the gym any longer . 3 months ago when I went to the location to sign up for the gym , I told the attendant who signed me on that , I don't live in Greer but visit 3 days a week to keep company of a woman who has been very good to me in the past and was dying so when she eventually dies , I wouldn't have any reason to be visiting Greer and would have to cancel my subscription . The girl told me I had nothing to worry about and that all I needed was to just come in person or send them a letter and they'll cancel . I went there this Thursday to cancel and I was treated like a prisoner. I was told I couldn't cancel and that even though I live in Charlotte and no longer visit my late friend in Greer , theyll continue to charge my card till one year . What ?! Which company does that ? What happened to " right of association " ? I was very angry and still angry because I felt abused ( my right is being abused ) . This is absolutely not right . One of the girls asked me to go and bring an obituary of my friend . For crying out loud , what's the connection between a dead person who knew nothing about my gym membership ? How am I supposed to go to her family asking for obituary as a black immigrant ? Won't they think I'm going to use it for something bad . Please RUN RUN RUN away from this gym . They are nothing but thieves . They also told me they'll debit my account on the 6th of every month but they actually debit me as early as 25th prior to the initially mentioned date but I decided not to question them about it . Lastly $39 for a gym payment is way too high ; like a car payment and I guess that's why it hurts them when someone decides to close his/her membership . Let me just say that if you want a gym that is dirty, has terrible customer service, leaky ceilings, and gives you excuse piled on top of excuse when you inquire about the machines are NEVER in proper working order, then join here! You will not only get all that for your monthly fee and long term contract, but you will get the run around and a huge headache when you try to cancel even when you have fulfilled your 2 year commitment. Great for older people. Great for those looking for a light workout, maybe some cardio , a run or light walk on the treadmill. They have several treadmills, elliptical s row machines and bicycles all equipped with cable tv. If you're looking to lift weights you'll be a bit disappointed, it's a bit cramped. Their classes are limited as well, like maybe 1 or 2 yoga classes a week that often get canceled. You do enter into a contract and it is more expensive than other fitness centers. Most of their gyms are small, so much so if are using a weight machine, you have to wait on someone to finish on one machine to use the machine beside them. This location keeps the temperature very warm inside, they do not have fans. Not a very friendly staff. I've been going to this gym for almost 2 years only due to having a contract, I only know one staff member because I worked with him when I signed up and I go 4-5 days a week. I would suggest visiting a few other places before committing to this one. read more
