Just joined this gym a week ago after having a two week pass prior to moving here to New Braunfels. Since day one the customer service by all the employees was set very high. I took advantage of the complimentary pt session with Anthony Durand and was able to get a inbody (body fat test) done prior to the tough but great workout he put me through. The customer service associates are decent but none of them properly explained the proper way to cancel your membership. They don't tell you how to cancel it so you don't know if you need to email somebody or you don't need know if you need to actually go to the gym to cancel. Therefore, you end up canceling it not knowing that you're supposed to cancel it 30 days before your last day at the gym. So, you end up getting charged even more and you get charged another membership fee, even though you're not even gonna be there So don't waste your money they're gonna end up charging you twice as much as you even need to be charged. Also, there's never even any room for you to actually get a good workout in anyway, because all the machines are always taken up by people who all they like to do is look at themselves in the mirror . read more

We recently moved in the area and this was the closest gym near us, so we decided to join as members. Everyone knows a Golds Gym and has their experiences, but we haven't really had a bad one yet since coming here. The parking is vast since it is in a shopping center. And it's definitely easy to find from its massive logo and flags. Once you enter you're greeted by the staff. And we love the energy the front employees put off. I recently had my free 1 time training with a trainer (Dom) and it was a good experience. Overall it's a decent gym. Clean and has everything you need to lift and do your exercises. Although they do not have a pool and kids zone (like the front displays) they still are decent. The only big issue is the smell of the bathroom, but that's mostly from the individuals who have bad B.O. and don't know how to take care of themselves. read more

When I lived in college station I frequented the gold's there, well because it was about the only show in town. There were things I disliked about it, and things I loved about it. Today was a reminder of how much I missed the branded gold's gym. When you walk in, greeted by a wonderful lady with what I thought was a European accent. Wasn't 100% sure, but didn't want to pester to ask. She was great. The flow of the gym was great. Nice crossfitter section, the machines were laid out great. Three squat racks, couple smith machines. But the best part? Everything was functioning, the pads weren't falling apart. And it was clean. It was leg day (best day) and honestly every piece of equipment I used was in good order. I drink a plethora of water when i workout, and can say the bathrooms were clean. Soap was stocked, and paper towels were Scott branded. Nice stuff. They have a lot of cybex machines, but not one arc trainer. Miss that thing. But they have the lateral octane machines. After crushing a leg day, hitting that just hits differently. Gym is legit. Clean. Friendly. Good stuff. If I'm here on vacation again, I'll hit it up. read more

I have been a loyal Gold's Gym member for approximately seven years, with the past year and a half spent at [Gold's Gym Location]. I am reaching out to formally express my frustration regarding recent changes under the new management. For the past year and a half, I have regularly used the J-hooks in the back room squat rack without issue. However, since the new management took over, all accessories--including J-hooks and bands--are now locked away. I was told this was due to concerns about theft, but as paying members, don't we already contribute to the gym's insurance and upkeep? Additionally, there are security cameras in place--shouldn't management be ensuring that equipment is protected rather than restricting access for all members? What concerns me even more is that after I raised a complaint about this policy to management and left a review online, J-hooks were then completely prohibited from use. This feels like a retaliatory action directed at me for speaking up, which is both unfair and unprofessional. It is unacceptable for dedicated members to be penalized for circumstances beyond their control. As a long-standing and committed member, I am deeply disappointed by these changes. I would like a response from ownership regarding how this will be addressed, as it is unfair to restrict paying members from using essential equipment. Please let me know how this situation will be resolved. Also the manager refused to give me a phone number so I could complain about this situation. Thank you for your time. Very frustrating policy if allowing people to "own" a machine as long as they leave their crap on it. People go potty, use other machines and even stand around and gossip... and as long as they have a phone or a backpack sitting on the equipment, they OWN it. This wouldn't be such an issue if Gold's had multiples if each machine, but sometimes they only have one of a particular type of machine. It just seems like a more reasonable policy would be: if you're on the machine, you're on the machine and if you are in the bathroom, you're off the machine. That would make things fair for people who do not have unlimited time to be at the gym. read more

Went to cancel my membership and was told that I had to let them know a month in advance. I understand that was part of the contract so I used that time to give my notice and was informed it would be canceled. I am now having to deal with collections. I do acknowledge my lack of following up and take responsibility for trusting someone's word and not keeping a paper trail of communication, still highly disappointed that my credit is now being affected from this. read more

Just a heads up! My card got hacked on the billing day causing me to cancel the card. I came in the very next day and changed over to new card. No grace period. I was charged a 20 dollar late fee. There is plenty of equipment to use but they have not been cleaned nor dusted in years. The bathrooms are a mess and you can count on seeing the same trash daily for weeks. The upkeep is very bad. The AC is either not functioning and they purposely keep the work out floor very very warm. Ironically, the entrance lobby where we there is a check in desk has the AC and the area is cool. Once go past that area, the rest of the gym is a humid hot box. I left b/c of the uncleanliness and lack of AC. read more

I fell in Golds Gym and broke my wrist and hit my head at a core strengthening & balance class. Two workers came to help me up also brought some ice for my wrist, then disappear. After I sat a while I was able to leave. No one offered to call an ambulance or take me to emergency to check my arm & head, no one offered to drive me home! I drove myself to the ER got ex rays of my wrist & head ( because I take blood thinners). My wrist had a bad brake it was splinted & was told to call Dr Post office for an appointment. When he looked at the e ray he said I needed surgery. Dr Post's office gave me a letter so I could get a better price on my membership. The gym did lower my membership for 3 months. After the first month I went in & canceled my membership, The girl acted like she canceled it. 9 months later I am still being charged for the membership read more

Great location plenty of parking also love the size of the gym and how spread out the machines are. Also great variety and I like the monthly amount and where I can cancel at anytime. I was a member at Mesa fitness for years (owned by golds, transferable membership) and I get here and get everything transferred over. First of all it was a nightmare getting set up. The computers don't work, the app doesn't work, but the lady who set me up was very accommodating and friendly. I would bring my daughter to the kids club since she was 3 months old, I brought her in and they ask me how old she is. I said 1 year this week. They turned me away because my daughter wasn't a year old yet. What???? No, I didn't check the policy, instead made an educated assumption it was the same as their sister facility in Colorado. Like what??? They need her social security number or...? I just drove 45 minutes to workout there and had my daughter with me and they turned me away. Unbelievable. Got a membership about a month ago and so far it's been great. They have plenty of machines and free weights, although not as many squat and deadlift spaces as you would expect in a gym this size. The staff is friendly though and the place is pretty clean, with a good atmosphere. I use the studio room to practice my poses for body building also, and so far I've had it all to myself. read more

Went to gym to cancel in Sept. 2022. I was told I would be charged for one more month and my final billing would be Oct 2022. I was charged for October, November, and again in December. When I went back to the gym to ask about this in December 2022, I was told that the membership was never cancelled. I again, filled out another form, but this time cancelled my card so they could not bill me anymore. They tried to bill me again in Jan of 2023, and when the charge was declined, they sent my account to collections. They screwed up, overcharged me November and December, and are now trying to charge me another month for January along with fees for a declined payment. Bunch of scam artist. Stay away. read more

Pool. Check. Cardio cinema. Check. Stretch area. Check. GGX exercise. Check. Kids club. Check. It's new. Everything is clean and beautiful and I hope it stays that way. Right now there is miscommunication with staff. We have a 10 and 15 year old and one person told us our son can do whatever we do and another said no weight equipment or use pool for lap swimming. It was a little hectic but got sorted out. I love the treadmills in the cinema room. I ran a quick 2 miler while watching Transformers. They have a stretch area with some free weights, medicine balls, foam rolling. I am anxious to take some classes: Zumba, combat, pound I love to eat but gotta balance that with some exercise. Really excited about treadmills. This time I can train for my marathon without having to get up at 4:30 to beat the sun. We went on a Saturday mid/day and it was quiet. We joined Gold's Gym after our local Y closed. Both my husband and I are VERY happy with our experiences at Gold's. Mark was the first Gold's employees that we met. He gave us a very thorough tour snd answered our questions. He was so welcoming to us. "Welcoming" would be the first word that come to mind when I think of the people that work at and attend Gold's. The fitness class instructors have been so seemingly happy to have me in their classes. Ayo is beyond professional and is one of two instructors I have gives me constructivecriticism about my form.. I greatly appreciate her concern. Moses is a talented cycle instructor. He encourages us to push my husband and I to get better in every class. Dominick has been training my husband for the last month. Dom really makes these sessions personal and helps my husband work on balance and get stronger. We were comfortable at that Y. Moving to Gold's has been a GREAT move for both of us. Maybe the New Braunfel's Y closing was a blessing in disguise! read more

The gym is clean, staff are always taking time to keep it that way. Locker rooms are clean and I have seen them clean the showers every time I go. Very important these days. Great variety of equipment for novice and experienced lifters. They have a CrossFit room, spin classes and a group led work out room you can sign up for. They greet you as you come in and wish you well when you leave. It is a gym for you to work out and like me I use it for my physical therapy. I like the movie room to do cardio as I hate cardio and the movie helps the time go by. They also have a lap pool, but I have not used it. I have no complaints...people that complain on Yelp all have one thing in common. They are not serious about fitness. The means are there they just don't use them. read more

If I could give 0 or negative stars, I would. My son had been robbed at this gym 4 times, including 3 wallets and one school bag with his school computer. Granted it was poor decision making on his part to leave his things in an unlocked locker, but I cannot believe the amount of criminal activity that is rampant at this facility. Members beware! You are working out in a gym with criminals!!! I have left my purses, cell phones, wallets and various other paraphernalia at other local supermarkets, gyms, churches, and schools to come back and have had some Good Samaritan return the item to me personally or to the lost and found directly. When I questioned about the "security cameras" I was told they don't work. You are not safe in this facility, don't bring anything in that you do not stolen from you, including snacks/beverages!!! So today I got a text from my sister saying someone took her car/ house keys while she was working out. She had asked the front desk to look at the camera footage to see if they could identify the person who took the keys and call them. We already figured the keys went missing by a mistake because her actual car was still there in the parking lot. The front desk told her "they do NOT have any operating cameras inside" This just blew my mind! How does a gym not have any operating cameras for the clients safety and for their own employees safety?!?! Oh and they also have a kids club there with zero operating security cameras! How is this not a huge liability for them?? Then they proceeded to say there was absolutely nothing they could do. They could not look up who swiped their badge in the last two hours and call them. They did not offer any solutions to the problem. They did not even offer to call a locksmith. They literally made an announcement and that was basically it. They finally found the keys in someone else's purse but again this could have been solved extremely quickly if they had security cameras. To have a gym that has a kids club with zero operating security cameras is extremely irresponsible and completely unsafe. Do better!! read more

Are you concerned of risks of Covid? DON'T USE THIS LOCATION!!! While I've had great experiences with other Gold's Gym, this one does not require you to wear a mask. When I asked the staff, their excuse was that the county guidelines don't "require" them to enforce wearing a mask anywhere you can be 6 feet away from others. Meanwhile they have signs that tell you to wash your hands for 20 seconds and every other sink is turned off to enforce social distancing. So they have signage to boss you around, making you feel like you need them to think for you but they don't enforce wearing masks in a pandemic. It's obvious they aren't thinking for themselves or taking responsibility for their role in the spread of Covid. read more

Dropped in here while I was on the road. They were very welcoming and buying a 2 day pass was no big deal. I went Saturday and Sunday and neither was very crowded. There is ample open space (usually an issue at city clubs), lots of cardio, and they have every machine and all the free weights. Everything is clean and in good condition. They have a good selection of prepared workout drinks for all your needs, before, during and after workout. Locker rooms are clean, the water is hot. Brung your lock and towel. Didn't try the pool but there was plenty of room. That's really all you need. Dont ever let travel keep you from training. read more

The gym was also very clean. I completed my initial two personal training sessions with Andrew and attended Gold Fit class. The quality of training and support are beyond what I anticipated. This is my home gym, but I find myself going to the one in San Marcos more and more, because they offer more class times. The layout in NB is a bit better in my opinion, with a larger stretching area and bootcamp/TRX areas. However, they always seem to have 1 or 2 treadmills and/or stair climber machines out of order. The trainers, overall, are not as personable as those I have met in San Marcos so far. We will continue to come here, but hope to see a few changes this year. read more
