Due to the crazy rules of Medicare you can't give him the money. They do. He also will bill your insurance-Medicare and secondary. With the direct care agreement, he will call you and/or text you the very same day. With the money conversation out of the way (isn't it sad that medical care is first about money, then also about care), I think that Dr. Zahalsky does a very good job. FIrst of all, I think he's smart and thinks things through. Second, he genuinely cares. Next, he will make sure that if you were to need to see a high quality specialist, he'll make sure that you obtain an appointment. There is not much more I can ask. The medical care system is broken. Everyone recognizes this. Everybody feels like a insignificant cog in a money system. Doctors and nurses all seem to be burned out. I chose to spend some money so that Dr. Z can afford to spend some time with me-I had a full one hour appointment. I was able to ask each and every one of my questions and have them answered. Paying $1800/yr is not something that everyone can afford. I know that. But if you can pony up the dough, I think it's worth it.

Scheduling me ahead of others (I don't know how many) and teaming up with another highly respected surgeon, I finally received approval and had my surgery last week. He spent a lot of time before surgery in pre-op, explaining the surgery and the risks. He answered every question patiently. He wasn't rushed, he was purposeful. When my daughter had questions, he called her. He checked up on me while I was in the hospital and when I got home. The bottom line, for me, is that I am now pain-free, doing moderate PT as required, and feeling the best I have ever felt in YEARS. Of course, every situation is different. But when it comes to having "the gift", you want someone with Dr. Wallach's experience and expertise fixing your spine. ....now Medicare, pay the man!!! :)

Kuperschmit, MD and his team)…read more Very disappointing billing experience Before my colonoscopy, I specifically asked whether the procedure would be billed and covered as preventive. The office staff and the doctor verbally assured me multiple times that it would be covered as preventive. We also requested predetermination confirmation before proceeding. The doctor said that preauthorization was sent to insurance, but I later learned that it was never submitted. That is a serious problem because I relied on their statements when deciding to move forward with the procedure. After the procedure, I received a large bill because the claim was submitted under a different CPT code after a polyp was found and removed. I am not disputing that removing a polyp may be medically appropriate. My issue is that no one clearly warned me beforehand that this could change the billing outcome and create major patient responsibility. Patients should not be reassured that something is covered as preventive, told that insurance confirmation will be handled, and then later be surprised with a large bill due to coding changes and lack of actual predetermination. I am disputing the bill and requesting a billing review. I would strongly recommend getting every billing, coding, and insurance statement from this office in writing before proceeding.

Another is that one of my relatives who has trouble with technology had asked me to help them on retrieving their results as well. However, when inputting their name no results were found! It's been over 2 months past the appointment in which they had gone to the lab to get test done!! So then we tried called the office to ask what was going on and they just told us that it was our own responsibility to figure out the test and call it in ourselves?? How great, you write the order but can't help us retrieving it. Well thanks for nothing. I was actually able to retrieve the results after going through papers that were kept after each appointment/ order. Thank goodness these papers were saved! And the reason to why we couldn't find the result? The name was incorrect! How is the name incorrect?? They have done test here prior and received results, but this time and this test just happened to be a different name when there was no chance in the name of the ID given or the insurance card? Anyway, thanks for the past care that we received here. We will not be coming back.
