Garfinkel and I found him to be kind, understanding, and extremely helpful during the three or four visits I saw him.

**** Update**** I have decided to update this review after…read morethe manager reach out to me to clear up the situation. As I mentioned in my original review it was truly a shocking moment to me that I refused to believe had happened considering how long I have been a patient of NWNP. Northwest Nurse Practitioner Associates to me represented everything that a family practice should embody and that is now missing in the health care system : empathy, compassion, knowledge, detailed-oriented, patience, confidence, trust, passion. I found all of the above qualities visiting Erin every years for the past 7 years and that last encounter (over the phone) with the manager was the complete opposite of what I was accustomed to hence my disbelief. I have the utmost respect for her and what she has built over the years and my decision to update my review is solely based on those 7 years. I do not believe that one incident should erase the consistent positive interactions and great care I have received from NWNP over the years. I want to believe that there was a miscommunication between me and the manager and it was not his intend to make me feel unheard. I appreciate him taking the time to reach out and write an apology email.

And that was true during that time. But something changed significantly as she transitioned to a sort of direct primary care practice and functional medicine practice. The practice seemed more impersonal. For example she tried to direct me away from monitoring my liver scores when I started taking statins. Although she had previously had the position that medications always have risks in promoting alternative medicine considerations and I had told her of my brother's death from non alcoholic cirrhosis due unmonitored prescription of cholesterol medication she tried to talk me out of the monitoring. At one point I had told her I didn't want to die from cirrhosis her reply was that there were worse ways to die.

That is a huge plus with me because it makes scheduling and keeping track of everything online. My first appointment was about two years ago. I really enjoyed the beautiful decor, soothing tropical sunset color palette set up similar to a spa. Every time I have had an appointment here everything went very smoothly, I was always treated with with respect and kindness. I am grateful to always be able to access the online portal for notes from each visit. If something is needed such as labs, the directions and referral was provided.

Everything else matched my existing file exactly: first name, date of birth, phone number, and email. I received a confirmation email for the new appointment time, so I had no reason to think anything was wrong. Today I was charged a $50 "no-show" fee. When I called, Jorge was cold and unhelpful. His explanation was that because the last name didn't match, the system never linked my reschedule to my original appointment, so as far as their office was concerned, I just didn't show up. He checked with Dr. Frederick, who agreed to reduce it to $25, but wouldn't waive it. Here's the problem: I used their own tool, the way they told me to, and got a confirmation email back. If a single mismatched field can silently fail to cancel an existing appointment with no warning to the patient, that's a gap in their process, not proof I skipped my visit. Instead of looking into that, they went straight to charging me and acted like $25 off was a favor. It felt like nickel-and-diming rather than an actual attempt to make it right. Not the first impression you want as a brand-new patient. Read the other reviews before you book here.
