Avila Farms at Goleta Farmers Market
Ann D.

This past weekend, I was able to buy some apricot bbq sauce and almond butter from Avila Farms at the farmers market. They are also at the SLO farmers market and the SB farmers market on Tuesday and Saturday. The service here was great. The ambiance is very clean and all of the products are nicely displayed at this market. This is a small farmers market but big enough for Goleta.

This farmer is significantly smaller than the Saturday Santa Barbara location, but features a lot of the same great booths, as well as a few that are unique! I love how calm this farmers market is in the morning, and the array of fruit and veggies. There's everything from bees wax candles to fresh meat, and I am always happy to be there! My only complaint is that I wish they had a stand that had fresh juice!

Great way to support local farmers! Loved stopping by here and was able to pick up some fresh veggies and homemade jams. The prices for the produce were very reasonable, and they had a variety of produce, meats, etc. available. They even sold Chinese vegetables, which I thought was pretty neat. The vendors are super friendly as well. Would love to come back during the summer, when fruits are in season and they have more of those available.

Look at those heirlooms tomatoes!

Let me start by saying there is nothing in this world like a fresh California avocado and this is a must (SNL Californian jokes ensue, but there is truth to it!). This Farmers Market is absolutely amazing! The produce is always great quality and delicious, and the farmers are extremely knowledgeable about their produce. Also, the prices really can't be beat. The quality of produce in California far surpasses anything I've ever seen in the United States. There are lots of samples so make sure you come hungry. Depending on the time of year you'll see different offerings of fruits and veggies, along with honey, bee pollen, and lots of other prepared food. During the Summer months when I came to visit the plums and peaches are out of this world. The avocados never disappoint (fresh guacamole anyone?). I especially love dates and they were fantastic as well. If you're in the area I definitely recommend! Favorites: White peaches Emperor Dates Local honey of any variety Avocados

Nice gem outside of Santa Barbara. Small but local fresh produce from around the surrounding areas.

We kept hearing how authentic their food is, and they also have a delicious menu of Matcha and Cafe Specials. After walking in and noticing all the other food options, we all split up to visit the other spots within, and we then met at one of the many communal tables to share each other's selections. At our large table we had food from Corazon Cocina, Empty Bowl Gourmet Noodles, Wabi Sabi, Little Bird Kitchen, and Que (West Coast BBQ). They all paired nicely with draft beers and cocktails from Cooney's at the Market, and we even got desserts from Rori's Artisanal Creamery. Staff at each venue was very helpful making food suggestions, and even pointed out some of their own favorites there at the SBPM.

Not fast food type but a decent meal in a quick pace environment. Friendly and quick service. Like a food court type of arrangement but so much more. My favorite is seoul mate kitchen which offers some classic dishes with a fusion twist. I love the bento box here. Pick a protein among beef, pork belly, chicken Or tofu. It also comes with rice, half marinated egg, cucumber, carrots , and three veggie side dishes. A full meal without the need to do much thinking. Next is the ca'dario pizza, we got the parma pizza. I cannot stop eating it... maybe it is the crust Want to try the rori's artisanal creamery. There was a "be backed" sign on the register. We Waited for 10mins or so and had to go. Now i have one more reason to come back and visit. Parking is pretty convenient. City parking close by and offer first 45 minutes free parking,

Taking Covid-19 very seriously, I've been isolating for most of the year and only getting groceries by delivery or from friends willing to pick things up while they shop. A few weeks ago, I started receiving once-weekly deliveries from the Farmstand. Wednesdays during Farmstand hours, I get a bag full of goodies and so far, so great. I love knowing that my seasonal produce is grown locally and organically. All of the items have been fresh and delicious, from a punnet of the sweetest, most sun-kissed yellow cherry tomatoes to heads of lettuce, zucchini and squash, and bunches of rainbow chard (so good sautéed with garlic!) I don't choose what's in my produce bags, but I've been very satisfied with the diverse selections. The assortment is $20 each and seems to be curated differently by the week. There's more info about the Farmstand, Covid-safe shopping, and pickup and delivery on the website. Thanks Farmstand, for keeping me cooking with tasty, newly-harvested local fruits and veggies during the pandemic.

* A lovely oasis! *…read more I first heard of this place in a documentary that I saw in Vancouver a while back. When I saw the film I knew I wanted to see the farm itself. This farm has been around since 1895, and claims to be the oldest organic farm in Southern California. It clearly is the last bit of farming left in an area that has become incredibly suburban. What an oasis! On their little parcel of land (about 12 acres) the have an incredible variety of fruits and vegetables - at least a hundred or so - including some rather unique heirloom varieties. There is a decent sized produce stand with a beautiful selection of organic fruits and veggies, and some very friendly helpful staff behind the counter to answer any questions about the products or the farm itself. If you wander past the stand onto the actual farm you can take a free self-guided tour that is really nicely set up. We wandered through the fields and found little signs every now and then telling you something interesting about organic produce, what you were looking at, or my favourite which described the difference between free range chickens and other kinds. (Those chickens running around providing natural fertilizer were fun to watch as well - they travel in packs!) This spot really makes for a wonderful afternoon of wandering around and getting back to the earth. And the carrots we got were the sweetest carrots I have had in a long LONG time! Delicious!
