I usually have nothing but praises to sing about this place but unfortunately not today. About 4 days ago I went in to get a Scottie Cameron putter ($449.99). I had already checked the website and multiple putters I wanted to look at were in stock. I went to test them before I purchased them and couldn't find 3 of the putters that showed in stock so I asked this employee named Frank. Frank was an employee that was roaming around the putting area. He would talk to customers about the putters they were looking at and was giving his input. Seemed to do more confusing than helping. He was nice enough though. When I asked Frank about the Phantom 5, Frank told me what was on the floor was what they had. I explained to Frank that I saw multiple online and asked if they could possibly be in the back storeroom. He stated "No. you can't trust that website." I was a bit annoyed he didn't check the system, or even browse the back to try and figure out what the issue was. So I walked to the front of the store unsatisfied, and spoke with Sarah. I didn't even mention Frank but explained the same situation. Sarah found the Scottie Cameron Phantom 5 putter within seconds showing in stock. 5 minutes later SHE GOT IT FROM THE BACK and I purchased it. Sarah was amazing and is the only reason this even received 2 stars. I don't know if he's lazy, hiding putters for his buddies, for him to sell, or what the issue was but I know for sure that it is bad business. While I was checking out, Frank walked up and said "Oh you found it?" I just nodded. Then as he was leaving he said "Enjoy." I found the interaction odd and insincere. I typically drive the extra miles to deal with the Chesterfield crew and avoid most people in STL (with the exception of the incredible Santa Clause/Club fitter there) but recently the STL location has been 10x better than the folks at Chesterfield. I can't stress enough how great Sarah was. When I come back, it will simply be because she saved the day. Right now, this isn't a place I would go out of my way to recommend. Walked around looking at the women's golf clothes, had a question but I couldn't find any employees on the floor and had to go to the front counter to ask. Got fitted for some new irons @ Golf Discount in O'Fallon. Excellent fitting process. Irons were ordered from Callaway Golf, arrived a few days later. After playing a couple of rounds with the new clubs, I realized that I should have picked a different model. The manager Chris said, " No problem." I brought the irons back, he re-ordered the different model. They came quickly, were just what I needed. Chris and his staff did a great job- would highly recommend them for your golf needs. read more

Michael Wyatt and the staff there are excellent. I have visited this store about two dozen times in the past two months of living in Chesterfield and I have had a really good experience each time. Michael Wyatt is an excellent instructor! My two daughters (ages 7 & 10) and myself have taken lessons with him now for the past six weeks and it has been a really enjoyable experience. Mid-day, 8-22-22, I walked into this GG with $1200 in my pocket in search of some new irons. Unfortunately the three gentlemen standing at the front counter were too busy flirting with each other and giggling to come over and ask if I needed any help. After it was clear that I wasn't going to have any service I went to a place down the street and purchased my irons. When I got to sporting goods store #2, another guy I saw at GG was there and had the same issue that I had.... The only customer that warranted any attention was an older country club looking fella that didn't buy anything. Don't go for Fitting of any clubs. Went into GG a month ago for a wedge fitting. I watch a ton of golf content on YouTube and the internet. Watched a lot of professional/master fitting sessions. Now I didn't expect this to be a master fitting at the Taylor made kingdom or anything for $40 but... the gentleman, I can't remember his name, put me onto the titleist proprietary wedge fitting software that's offered for free on the titleist website. And basically just grabbed the clubs it recommended off there. Dude didn't even get a distance number on my PW. I told him the loft, he plugged it into the Titleist software and went with it. There werent any questions past that. After grabbing me 3 wedges. He had me hit off a lie board 3 times and recommended 2* upright and said that's all we need for the fitting. I probably hit less than 25 balls total. Again, I'm not expecting a master fitting. But he didn't talk about any numbers from the sim. Didn't ask my opinion on shaft flex or weight, nothing about spin, nothing about apex, landing angle or anything... Just used the free software that I could have used myself to "fit" me for new wedges. Either uneducated or lazy or both is my guess. I could have done a better fitting for an individual had I have been in his shoes w/ no experience. Will not go back there for anything golf other than maybe a grip or glove. read more

This Golf Galaxy is simply awful. I've been in at least a dozen times and will never go back. The final straw came today when I picked up 10 clubs I had regripped. I ordered golf pride tour velvet plus 4, with the logo being up - so you see it when you grip the club. This was written on the order. You would think folks who regrip for a living would have an idea how to do it? But 7 of my 10 clubs had the logo off to the side as much as 3/4 of an inch. If I hold the clubs with the grip logo in the proper place my face is open like I'm going to hit a flop shot. Thankfully they got my driver grip on correctly. But 7 of my 9 irons the logo isn't even close to being centered. How bad do you have to be to not notice you've got it on wrong? I imagine it's because the employees just don't care at all. But it's my fault for trusting this store. I've shopped here multiple times and I'm always shocked at how little the employees actually know about golf and the products they carry. Golf Galaxy as a whole is a good, reputable chain, but this store in Chesterfield needs to have every employee and manager fired and start all over. read more

It's OK. Expensive asf, but occasionally they have sales and stuff. I'd say I prefer the website, but honestly, you kinda have to try things on to see how they fit first. I mean seriously, I did NOT think I was going to be an XS in the ladies golf shirts, or a friggin size 2/4 in the skirts. *confusing* I guess golf clothing sizing is vastly different from that of fashion-y clothes sizing. Staff is fairly helpful although I did feel a bit of pressure to buy the most expensive stuff from them. *shrug* TBH though, I was able to score a pair of perfectly brand new, totally nice and comfy Addida's golf shoes using Vinted on my phone, so I really wouldn't buy shoes here. But I would come and try stuff on to get an idea of the fit, esp if you've never worn golf clothes before, and you are female. read more

I went there with my brother on 4/7/18 during evening hours. He was *very* interested in buying a full set of golf clubs. What follows is a nearly word-for-word conversation with a staff member at Golf Galaxy: Brother: "What kind of clubs should a guy like me have?" Staff: "Depends." Brother: "Okay... depends on what?" Staff: "Depends on a lot of things." Brother: "Okay... like what?" Staff: "Well, like, how much you wanna spend." Brother: "What if money was no object at all? What kind of clubs should I get?" Staff: "It depends." Brother: "Okay. Got it." The staff went back to doing what they did before--hitting golf balls. My brother went to Dick's Sporting Goods a few stores down, got the answers to his questions, and spent over a thousand dollars on a new set of clubs. Look, I don't like giving one-star reviews. The place has great products with good deals. But to say the staff was disengaged would be a dramatic understatement. My brother dropped buyer's questions galore and the staff just didn't pick up on them or were just not that interested and wanted to close up (this was about a half-hour before closing). But whatever the explanation, they lost out on a four-figure sale and some pretty lucrative referrals. It's too bad because the store is gorgeous, a golfer's paradise of products. I've had my golf equipment serviced and repaired here several times and they do great work. Have also found good bargains at times on used equipment. Clothing on the Clearance rack can be a great buy but the ordinary everyday stuff is much, much too expensive. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. read more

BEWARE...THE OLD GUY NAMED JOHN FROM ARKANSAS IN THE HITTING AREA LACKS KNOWLEDGE, CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND IS MORE INTERESTED IN SLACKING OFF RATHER THAN HELPING YOU! The selection of clubs & equipment is good, better prices for the same can be found online or elsewhere. The issue I have is when I went to compare 3 fairway woods (Ping, TaylorMade & Callaway), I wanted to hit them first to determine the best feeling club. A guy named John was the ball boy or associate in charge of the indoor hitting area and he gave me about 15-18 balls to hit. Well, I got loosened up with the first 10 or so and then wanted to see how the clubs reacted, the dispersion, speed, control, etc., with their electronic tracking. When I requested more balls, John came up and said, "you've hit about 20, that should be enough". I was a bit shocked he was trying to run me off. He said "if you just want to bang balls, that will cost you $20". I told him I was trying to compare clubs that I was getting ready to spend about $300 on and would like to be sure of my purchase. He said "there is a Golf Galaxy in Fairview Heights and this equipment is expensive". I told him thanks for being so rude and dismissive and I asked to see the store manager. While that guy seemed to be nice enough and said he would talk to John about his 'tact', the smirk on his face said otherwise. If you want to be treated well, especially when wanting to spend money on golf hardware, you can take your chances trying/comparing clubs at Golf Galaxy, but don't be surprised if they give you 10 balls and then ask you "ready to buy it now?" or "have it all figured out now?" Unless you're lucky enough to work with a man named Paul. He wants you to be satisfied with your purchase. Most golfers I know want to hit clubs, get a feel for them and understand them just a bit before they come in off the street ready to buy, especially when we're talking high-end clubs. I don't buy a new bag's worth of clubs every year, so I just want to make sure of what I'm spending my money on. Golf Galaxy in Chesterfield and the old dude from Arkansas, John, will not get anymore of my cash. Poor customer service from the old chubby guy at the indoor driving range. His name is John and if you're looking to spend serious cash on a fairway wood or irons, he'll let you take about 5 swings to make your decision. Definitely go elsewhere if you're serious about comparing clubs as this place, with guys like John, just won't have the knowledge to provide you practical information. Get fitted at a real range or course and buy there or online once you have made your choice. I visited the store on 4/5/19 around 7pm looking to purchase a new set of wedges. I came across one guy, to the best of my knowledge remembering his name being Ben. At the time he was helping someone, so I stood patiently waiting for his assistance. As soon as I got the chance I told him I was interested in the new Cleveland wedges. He replied with "ok I'll let you hit a couple of balls", as he walked away and sat in their trailer talking to another employee for around 10 minutes until he finally came out to me standing with my two friends by the hitting bay (keep in mind we are all 17 years old). I asked him if I could hit the wedges and he then replied in a very angry tone "Ok are you guys BUYING tonight, because I'm not going to waste my time" I replied with "yes I want to try them out because I'm seriously looking at new wedges" he then replies with "Ok that's not what I asked, are you guys BUYING tonight, because we have a lot of kids like you who just want to waste our time to hit balls" I then got angry, giving my respect to this man since I first asked him about the wedges. I then told my friend who was also very interested in buying a new driver to put that back and I said "I will not give this guy my business, we will go to golf discount instead"...and this was my second bad experience with this same employee, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he just had a bad day. I then left a complaint to the front about him and they were very respectful. My point in this entire review is yes I do see how sometimes kids can come in acting like idiots just wanting to hit golf balls can anger these employees, but on the other hand many "kids" have massive amounts of interest in this game and shooting down these kids just because you think they will not purchase anything or we are "wasting your time" is pathetic. I myself personally have spent around $2,000 at golf galaxy just in 2019 alone (and you can check my account if you don't believe me, it will be under Michael Fischer:). My overall point in this is yes, some kids will not end up buying anything, but some adults also will not buy anything, so in theory these same kids your shooting down disrespecting will go to a different golf store and give them their business. read more

Golf Galaxy in Chesterfield Valley is THE most poorly managed, worst staffed, impersonal, lackadaisical collection of misfit toys I've ever had the extreme displeasure to come into contact. This was by all definitions, a major clusterf**k! Staff was uninterested (except for shooting the breeze with each other). They were completely checked out, just sitting on their asses in the hitting area, on tall stools watching customers go unattended. They would barely engage even when asked for help by a customer who wanted them to locate the correct club in their demo bag. It was as if they were shooting a professional customer service video entitled; "Never let this happen to you". The store manager should be absolutely shamed and embarrassed, but probably not. He may have been one of those worthless people chewing the fat with the other carefree, unprofessional ballsacks they call sales people. If not, I pity him and would direct him to his human resource dept where he could get supervised, personal training on good hiring practices. I will NEVER EVER go back into that or any Golf Galaxy store. I've notified my country club to warn members and have our club pro warn their peers to steer clear of them also. They're toxic. They're trash! They're Golf Galaxy! I hope they go under faster than Chesterfield Mall. That's saying something! read more

This was with out a doubt the worst shopping experience I have ever had. My husband purchased 8 items and spent close to $400 for me on a Saturday afternoon. We returned Sunday morning to exchange some sizes and try another item or two on style's that did not appeal to me. While I was trying on different sizes (in a fitting room that was so dark I could barely see the size tags) the salesperson who never stopped talking to his coworkers the entire time we were in the store returned everything my husband had purchased. When I went to exchange 4 of the items he wanted to charge me full price on what should have been an exchange since the promotion from Saturday had ended. After getting two other salespersons involved I made the exchanges however they would not honor the sale on items that were not exact, same brand just a different style. I get the sale was over but from my 37 years in retail management you want to keep your good customers happy and coming back, not to mention there was barely a soul in the store and I would think they would want the sales. This process took so much time versus a simple exchange and they were non apologetic, quite unfriendly I would say. One of the items they did not have my size but it was available at Dick's Sporting Goods at WC mall (sister affiliate of GG). I ask them to send to me and they would not and told me to rebuy the wrong size so I could exchange at Dick's. When I went to Dick's they told me they could not exchange but would honor the sale price, but I would have to return to GG to return the pair that was of a different size. When my husband went back to GG for the 3rd time again no apology for the misinformation on being able to exchange at Dick's or the inconvenience of a 3rd trip. I was so fed up I was ready to return everything. I will never shop at GG again, and will be surprised quite frankly if they are in business a year from now. read more
