Great board selection, good prices, and a great atmosphere. Definitely the best shop in the area.

Why is everything so damn hard in the City? Everything. All I was looking for was lessons, which…read moreare listed on the website as something offerred. Cool. We wanted to get a 4 year old some lessons to advance his bike skills and there are not a lot of options near South City. Other options are St Charles, St Peters and Wildwood. I emailed what is listed on the site. The response was to come on a Sunday morning and sign up for lessons then. By the way, you have to carry your bike (and likely your kid's bike) up 2 flights of stairs. Sunday morning: Mother's Day multiple people are waiting outside and the door is locked. Ramp Riders posted on Instagram (not the door!) right before the start time that they were closed on Mother's Day. For those without social media, Sorrrrrrry! The next time we go, no one arrived to open the place until 20 minutes after they were supposed to be open. It's 90 degrees, no AC and the woman is wearing a winter beenie hat. Again, I ask to sign up for lessons after the session. I would have paid whatever the rate was. She says to email the address on the website -face palm-. An infinite loop. Why are all three downtown post offices closed in the middle of the day for no reason? Why are all the court forms on the website outdated? Why is there poop on the neighborhood playground equipment and men bathing in the splash fountain? Why is City Hall so slow, rude and difficult? Why do wrecked cars sit on the side of the road for months? I try so, so hard to love it, endure it, embrace it. But goddam. It's also hard to get a bike lesson. So, we drive to St Charles for Wheels Up. They are responsive, friendly and helpful. It should not be SO DIFFICULT.

Founded by the Rawlings brothers of Saint Louis in 1897, Rawlings is now a joint venture of the private equity firm, the Seidler Group and MLB Properties which is interesting only because MLB has complete control over the construction of the official balls used in MLB games and has feigned ignorance when questioned about their role in altering the design to either promote or discourage home runs. Independent tests of the balls have routinely shown that during periods of enhanced offense, the balls have been wrapped significantly tighter to enhance their velocity off the bat. The balls themselves are manufactured in a closely guarded facility in Costa Rica and despite being synonymous with "horsehide" over the years, cowhide has traditionally been the cover of choice. All that to say that Rawlings remains a venerable name around the grand old game as my 30 y/o outfielders glove and messenger bag can attest. Tight ball or not, I still can't hit. Five cowhide stars.

I did-that was the Towne Center store in Leawood, Ks. spoke to an employee who told me that did have both items in stock (1 of each), 85.00 for one and 47.99 for the other. I explained that I live 221 miles from that store but would be there next Friday, 8/7 and could pick them up then. However company policy for not allow them to take payment over the phone. She said I could go online order them for a store pick up there for next week. Well since they only had 1 of each item in stock the online ordering showed they did not have it so that was now not an option. She offered to hold them but could not guarantee they would be there next week. Told me to call customer service and see if they could "override" that quantity and make it available but she didn't think they would. Not helpful at all in solving my issue or making a $130 plus sale soooooo Long story short..I got in my car, drove to my local Laura Hill store spoke with the store manager and she found a solution. She ordered it from another Kansas City area store, I paid for it, and it will be delivered in 3-5 days. All from 299 miles away and in less than 10 min. This is not a store I shop in frequently as I do not have a need for most items in their inventory, but have been there 2 or 3 times before and EVERY TIME someone who works there has gone above and beyond to help me get exactly what I needed. This store manager "gets it"! and so does her staff-retail is a very tough, competitive industry, and having to deal with trying to find good, caring associates while they are on your dollar must be incredibly difficult nowadays, but not there. please acknowledge her and her store for their willingness to go the extra mile!
