Neither of us had ever played before. To quote Mike, "the best way to learn how to grip a club is to buy a book." Really? Wish I had; then I wouldn't have gotten golf elbow because I was holding the club wrong. He never checked our grips after the first 2 minutes of the first lesson. At the last lesson when I asked if it was normal for it to hurt when I swung the club he said, "well you're holding it wrong." When I said this was how you showed me; he told me to "buy a book" For 6 lessons, all he showed us was chipping and pitching. I kept asking him to show us how to hit off a tee and putt. Finally, on last lesson he showed us how to hit off a tee. He never showed us how to putt, score, choose clubs, or how to play a hole; very little info about how to play the game itself. He spent endless time pontificating about golf philosophy, his personal experiences, and saying hello to every person at the golf course. The only thing that made it worthwhile was that my son and I were spending time together doing something new. My advice...find a different pro. Mike Buroza's advice...buy a book.

A few holes on the back are a bit tricky and where to hit is not straightforward as you play them. Blind shots to hazards that creep out into the fairway. Pay attention to the cart gps picture and really figure your yardage to spots. Weird thing is that because it is on the beach there are walking trails throughout the course and they have signs posted about not leaving valuables in cart. How the heck do you do that and play? Kept having to stash my phone and ended up messing up my process of getting yardages etc from the phone app I use. Just be warned. It was cart path only on almost all holes. Made for a lot of walking since the holes are cut into the hillside and you had to walk down to the fairway and then back to the cart. Made it hard to play quickly or with any rhythm. I would ask if cart path only when making tee time. Really detracted from experience. Condition was good but the greens had been punched and it showed. Just two points to ask about. Cart path only and punched greens. Still gets four stars because of staff. Oh and being a load of cash if you are getting anything from pro shop.

Our group of eight was allowed to all play together, as we happened to have the course to ourselves on a Thursday morning. Fun time for all. 9 holes for a friendly game is just right. When we finished a golf cart was called to transport our group to lunch at Nelson's down at the property's peninsula restaurant. What a perfect day!

There was a lot of parking and it was a quiet morning. The view was amazing, but the interior setup was interesting. The venue had a large round table that would sit 10 comfortably, but they had 11 people per table. It was hard to maneuver around the tables and guests without crossing in front of the guest speakers. At one point, we couldn't figure out where the extra sound of music was coming from during one of the presentations. I heard it coming from the kitchen. The bathroom had 3 stalls on one side and 4 plus a handicapped stall on the other side. They had a hands-free sensor for the toilets flushing mechanism, which I thought was amazing. They also used high quality paper towels and provided little plastic cups for mouthwash. The breakfast selections were awesome. There was this whipped yogurt that was thick and fluffy, almost like cream cheese. They had this tomato parmesan croissant that was aromatic and I wanted more (I had 3). The custard Danish was delicious too. Lunch selection was pretty good too. Their pasta dish was cold, but filling. Their chicken and salmon were cooked perfectly, wasnt dry. Their smoked gouda mac and cheese wasnt creamy, but wasnt fully dry either. I really enjoyed the barley that came with the salmon. The potatoes were my least favorite, I thought it was too dry and very salty. As far as the golf course, you need to be a resident to get a discount ($10k), and there is a monthly fee after the annual price of $50k. The course looked amazing, not too many people out during my visit, but it had the hills, the sand pits, a lot of green fields.

I recently finished about three years' worth of lessons with Paul, and it has been life-changing…read more Originally, I came to GolfTec because I really wanted to be able to see/replay my swing when I practice. Over the years I tried taking a few lessons here and there with different instructors with little to no success. Eventually my poor form combined with swinging as hard as I could (and also lifting weights in the gym) resulted in injuries to my elbow, shoulder, and back. What I really wanted to do was create an efficient, smooth swing that I can use for the rest of my life, as I had always imagined golfing in retirement. When I came for my evaluation, Eddie had me try a few things, and then he was brutally honest with me and said he probably shouldn't be my instructor (I was way too "armsy" which was not a good match for how he taught), so he referred me to Paul. It stung a little to hear that, but it turned out to be for the best. I told Paul that I was committed and would do whatever he said. Over the next few years he completely rebuilt my swing from the ground up. I think I spent most of my first year just working on my backswing. It was incredibly frustrating for me, but I stuck to it and you can see in the pictures how it has paid off. To avoid injuries, I probably swing about half as hard as I used to, but the ball still goes just as far, if not farther (plus straighter). GolfTec isn't cheap though, and I'll be the first to admit I would just keep taking lessons forever if I could afford it. This is definitely something I could not have afforded when I was much younger. But if this is something you can afford and nothing else has worked for you, I encourage you to try this. Another thing that has helped is I was able to pause my program once per package ("X number of lessons in Y weeks") whenever I was too injured to continue. As for any reports of rude instructors or poor customer service from coaches, I think I know who they were talking about. There was one coach there who wasn't very friendly whenever I interacted with him, and he seems more interested in practicing his own swing than helping customers. He's been gone for a few months though and was recently replaced by someone else. I've always found the other coaches to be super nice. Eddie's gone now. Ryan is the manager, I believe, and he's incredibly friendly and helpful. Just keep in mind that they can get really busy at times. If you walk in and need help and they're all busy teaching, just make sure they can see you standing there. They'll get to you before too long, but they're priority does need to be teaching a student that is paying for their time. Oh, and Paul has always been super responsive via email. They just wanted to take a blind online order without ensuring proper spec matching.If you are a serious golfer looking for precise, high-end custom work or frequency matching, save your time. Go to a real professional shop instead.
