5:55 am tee time the day before daylight savings this past weekend. A true gem and highlight for this 626er who doesn't get to play ocean view courses much and boy does this course deliver on that. For a first time player, the different types of holes and changes in elevation and lies was quite fun. The greens were super tricky and I had a good amount of fun for playing so poorly. Since we were the second group out pace was not an issue. We made it in at a respectable 4hr 15 mins but never felt rushed during the round. No fog the day we played so it made the day that much better. Looking forward to coming back to play here again some day. read more

Poor course conditions and repeated harassment from marshals over pace of play that was never actually a problem. I played Los Verdes yesterday and am writing this review because of how our group was treated by course marshals, not the course itself. We started off well. The starter offered us a re-tee after a mishit, which we declined so as not to hold up play. The twosome ahead of us was moving quickly, which created a natural gap between our group and theirs. That gap was created by the group ahead, not by us, and it should not have been treated as our issue to solve. On the 8th hole, a marshal checked in and confirmed we were on pace, a few minutes behind the two hour mark, nothing of concern. That interaction was professional and appreciated. Shortly after, a second marshal approached and asked us to pick up the pace due to the gap ahead. We agreed without pushback, despite having just been told by the first marshal that we were fine. Then, on that same hole, as we were walking up to the green, a third marshal approached and told us we were two holes behind and needed to speed up immediately. Three marshals, three different messages, all within a single hole. At that point this was no longer pace-of-play management, it was harassment. When I said as much, the marshal responded by threatening to make us skip a hole entirely, which is not an acceptable way to speak to a paying customer, particularly one who was not behind. For context, we finished our round in 4 hours and 20 minutes, a completely normal pace for an 18 hole round. The claim that we were significantly behind simply was not true. Course conditions were also disappointing. Fairways were in poor shape, greens were worn down, and overall maintenance looked neglected. Landscaping crews and tree removal work were active in the middle of fairways around 9:30am, creating noise and disruption during play. We later noticed a tournament being set up, which likely explains the excessive pressure to move us through, it felt like we were being rushed off the course to make room rather than being treated as customers. Pace of play is a legitimate concern at any course, but sending three marshals to pressure one group within a single hole, over a gap that group did not create, is not reasonable. Combined with subpar course conditions, this made for a frustrating experience and poor value for the green fee paid. Management should review how marshals are communicating with golfers and ensure the staff is coordinated and professional, not contradictory and confrontational. read more

My favorite local municipal course in the area. Prices are reasonable. Tee times book up fast so I typically just play nine holes early in the morning before 8 AM. The back nine is beautiful at sunset. Many walkers on this course, but the pace of play isn't too bad. I'm really new to golf but most of the people I've played with there have been very kind and patient. The conditions of the greens are OK in the fall was quite a few dirt patches, but with the recent rains, those dirt patches are now clover patches so I lost a few balls last week. Highly recommend for the unbeatable views and reasonable prices. read more

Golf is hard enough without 20 min waits at backed up holes which crush any fun or momentum. The $50 lunch is no help. And the views? "Company Policy" I had a really disappointing experience here. My partner and I were asked to leave after only 9 holes because I was riding along in the cart. I wasn't causing any issues--just sitting and accompanying them. Not to bring up the fact that one of the workers was laughing while we were getting told about the policy. Coming from Catalina Island I would expect a little more hospitality since they consider themselves a "high-end" golf course. What made this more frustrating is that just a few days prior, my partner played with a group that included an extra person riding along, and they were not asked to leave or questioned at all. (5 people total) The inconsistency in how this rule was enforced didn't sit right with me. It felt unfair and honestly uncomfortable. If this is a policy, it should be applied clearly and equally to everyone. We ended up leaving mid-game, which ruined the experience for us. I would have appreciated better communication and consistency from staff. I understand what policy is, though the tee-off worker saw us in the beginning and didn't mention not one thing. Hopefully management can address this so others don't have a similar experience. Long story short if you want to have a peaceful day and accompany your partner, this isn't the place. I organized a charity event here for 250 guests and a dozen vendors, silent auction, and speakers. Jules and the staff helped our event run seamlessly! From their calm demeanor and helpful reminders (e.g. vendor lunches will be put on a cart on the terrace at 12:15), to the waiter who poured champagne at the entrance and helped our president walk down the steps off the stage, we found the whole staff calming and responsive to any request. We especially appreciate their accommodating the moving of tables from outside to inside and then back outside as the rain forecast changed. Many guests told us how lovely the space is and how much they enjoyed the view, but the biggest compliments were for the food! The way the salad was wrapped in cucumber strips was elegant, and the addition of the baked tomato was a fun surprise, and the taste of everything was delicious! read more

Simply the worst course I have played in years. Hardpan and crab grass everywhere. This means your ball will move from one side of the fairway to the other without the ability to position the ball for your next shot. Tiger/Jack/Tom/Arnie would never play this course. The restrooms on the course are closed now. The sand traps are concrete. No display on the carts, so one has no distance measurement. Most holes missing a ball washer. This course makes the LA City course Penmar look like a Private Country Club. Broken suspension on the cart. Needed a replacement. Supervisor Janice Hahn, this is your golf course, does the County not even care? Skip this course, better customer appreciation elsewhere. read more

We just played the course and it is completely trashed: - Fairways are bare dirt patches with ZERO grass - Local rules are in effect now because of no grass on fairways ("2 club lengths to a favorable lie on fairway") - Fairway tee shots run off the course because of no grass - Bunkers are not great - Greens are in decent shape though After that last round, I will not be returning to Los Verdes. We all know that LV is very popular. Played there today. Staff was friendly, pace of play decent (just under 5 hours), and greens were in very good shape. Bunkers pretty average for a busy public course. But the fairways are the WORST I've played in the LA area. Don't know what's wrong. They seem compacted like they are never aerated and there is definitely not enough water being applied. Save your time and play somewhere else. read more

Always looked forward to playing here every summer in an annual tournament. Today was so disappointed with the neglect of this course. What is up with who's managing the course? The one thing I would sometimes dread was the pace of play, but today, our tournament was within playing pace. We finished in 4 1/2, (teed off at 8:10, done before 1:00pm) but who ever was playing "Marshall" came up to us on #10 and said he was asking the first group to skip a hole. Why? We're part of a tournament and no one in our group is holding shit up. The biggest disappointment was the hard pan fairways, dirt patches every hole, dirt instead of rough. Dry, dry, dry. It was a such a pleasure to play here before, not sure if I do want to come back. I hope they turn shit around. read more

I've played Los Verdes in Palos Verdes a few times over the years. The word around town is that its hard to get a tee time, and the rounds take longer than normal (5 1/2 hrs+ vs 4 - 4 1/2 hrs at most courses). However, if you know someone that understands the system here, you are in for a treat. Positives: Long course w/ ocean views, bending fairways, elevation changes and inexpensive price (I think $62 on weekends w/ a cart vs most public courses are $75+ on weekends). Negatives: Hard to get a tee time, long rounds, lousy grass in some sections of the fairways and its far off the freeway. Despite the negatives, I would rather play here vs nearby Trump that charges about $100 more vs Los Verdes. Its a much better designed course vs Trump, and it is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. read more

However, the fairways are in poor shape. They are all dry and splotches if grass. We just moved our ball the the closest small splotch of grass to play off of. Not sure what the problem is but fairways are bad. BUT the greens are in great shape. You are just gonna get a tight lie everytime in the fairway. Wow, if "fall from grace" was in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Los Verdes Golf Course next to it as the first entry. My friend and I played here on August 20, 2025, and it was hard to find any positives, which is very disappointing considering I've played here for years and it's always been in good condition (until now). We teed off at 3:35 pm and finished 14 holes by 8:15, and then it got too dark to continue. I mean really? 14 holes in 4hr 40min? We were waiting on every shot, not just every tee box, but every SHOT. It is evident that the management really doesn't care about its customers in my opinion because of the horrendous conditions of course and the lack of any personnel upholding the pace of play. Also, almost every golf cart has a chunk of the seat missing, and they don't have any windshields, which sucks when it gets to dusk time because I was just being repeatedly being smacked in the face by swarms of gnats. Honestly, you'd be better off going to play at Victoria golf course which is built on top of a literal landfill. Will not be coming back for the foreseeable future. My home course for years has been ruined by poor management who just try to cram as many tee times in as little time as possible and neglect the conditions completely. read more

There are a few public courses in SoCal that you should frequent - this is one of them. Played here for a tournament scramble and had an amazing time. The Greens were fast and had slope (unlike many courses that roll straight). Fairways are seeded well. The rough is typical for a public course that's a mixture of dirt and weeds. However what takes the cake is the VIEWS. You are surrounded by beautiful homes and ocean views , the back 9 is ALL ocean views , making it a great place to take pictures and have a few drinks. The bar was great with a nice selection and the hotdog was very good. If you are in the area and want a place to golf and relax - this is it. read more

I arrived 5 minutes before my 7:30am tee time for an early back 9, but the marshal told me I was half an hour late for a 7am tee time. I showed him my booking confirmation, and only then did he admit that it was his mistake -- people playing the front nine were about to start the back. My grandfather flew in from overseas to play this course for my university graduation. We were told to wait half an hour for an opening, and after waiting, we were told to wait another half-hour. After being asked to wait an hour for management's mistake, we left with zero reconciliation. read more

Tee times are dirt cheap for the course, the views are second to none for a public course, greens are well maintained, and the course is fun. First of all, people need to set their expectations properly. I'm not trying to be a snob here, but you're playing at a cheap public course. Rates are RIDICULOUSLY LOW especially the setting and ocean view. I'm sorry, but you can't expect Pebble Beach levels of service or conditions. If that's what you're looking for, go to a place commensurate with your expectations (and be prepared to pay for that experience too). Do you go to a fast food restaurant expecting top notch service and Michelin rated food? You have to set your expectations properly people... goes for using this as a wedding venue as well. I'm not sure what the cost is, but I'm sure nowhere near the $50k+ (MINIMUM) for the Ritz Carlton up here. If you're looking for fancy, look somewhere else and be willing to open up your wallet vs. complaining about what you're getting Now on to the real review and off my rant... I will repeat, the rates are fantastic. Overall, I thought the greens and fairways were in fair condition, especially given the green fees. The carts were fine, nothing fancy, but they worked well enough for me and did the job. As a bonus, some of the holes had incredibly beautiful ocean views. My main complaint will be the slow pace of play. Yes, I'm contradicting myself since they probably do this to drive revenue. That said, I would be willing to pay more if they could space out tee times a bit more. We spent an incredible amount of time waiting even on par 4 and 5 holes (I usually expect some waiting on par 3 holes). The one other complaint are the grass "chunks" off the fairways. These are patches of grass that stick up (often with not much else but dirt around them). They are a bit dangerous to hit around since your club can't hit through them, and you can potentially injure your hand / wrist if you hit one and jam your club into it. read more

Pretty golf course with no marshal to be found.....pace of play was terrible! On every hole there were groups of 4 elderly men walking, taking nearly 20 minutes to play it out. A nice 5:30 hour round, to say the least. The first 9 holes of the course look terrible, but the back 9 look incredible (the views, condition, etc.) If it's sunset and you're still on the front 9, drive over to the end of hole 16/ teebox of hole 17 for the best views. 4 stars solely for the views on those holes. read more

This golf course is ran by incredibly rude staff. I woke up at 4:30 am to get there well before my 5:50am tee time. I arrived before my tee time and there were two parties waiting in line. Well guess what the rude staff member gave away our tee time to the person right in front of us. He did not apologize didn't seem to care and was extremely unhelpful. He put shy is on the waitlist and we waited around for almost an hour before leaving. He claimed you have to be there 5-10 minutes before your tee time or it will be given away. We literally were in line before our tee and we were on time. They did not put this in writing, this place deserves to be sued and they for sure need better staff and management team. Please be aware of the rude unhelpful staff at the pro shop. read more

Haven't used my golf clubs in years. Dusted them off and visited Los Verdes for the driving range and lunch. It was a very pleasant afternoon. Double level range is adequate, although the balls are quite dead. This is a great place to grab some lunch. Outdoor ocean view seating is plentiful. The Los Verdes Burger was a winner! Old facility that needs lights for nighttime or close to dusk usage. Old school golf ball tractor collecting balls is very loud and distracting. The course is great but always crowded at the range. Pro-shop needs new gear and girls items. Poor selection of merch. Cafeteria is also lacking in food items. The only pro here at the range is to be a member of the players club so you can get your moneys worth practicing. You'll fight for a spot on the range or practicing chipping. But that's why it's public. Good bargain. read more

Los Verdes is one of the most beautiful courses! I love playing here and make sure to go. + Everybody on the course is SUPER nice. If you have to have someone join your group, Los Verdes is the place to do it. Everybody who has ever placed with us has been super friendly, kind, and easy to talk to. + Their membership fee is a great deal. If you join their "players club" it is $47/month but you get a free large bucket (value $18), and a drink everytime you play a round. I think it is worth it! + The famous view of the Catalina Island hole? Need I say more? The grass is always green, interesting mix of par 3/4/5, and not too any bunkers which annoys the craps out of me. It is my favorite place to catch up with friends and i never have too hard of a time booking a spot. Also their food in the club house is quite good! Don't miss out on an opportunity to play here! The Good: Views views and more views. That is what this place is all about, but unfortunately, not much else. The price is very reasonable which makes it a very popular place. The Bad: Good luck finding a matt to warm up on. Not only is this course one of the most crowded in LA, but it's probably the prettiest place to hit a bucket of balls. Probably the slowest course on the west coast. It's not unheard of to play a 6 hour round here and I'm not kidding. You can probably just play 16 holes and go home because by the time you get to to 16 you're exhausted from being out there all day. The view if great, but even that gets old after 5+ hours. The course is pretty average. Not terrible, but not great either. Because of the setting, you get a lot of players out there that are there for the ocean view and not the golf. You have a better chance winning the Lotto than getting a morning tee time. read more

What a goat track this course has become. This was an LA County jewel forever and they have completely let it go. Had an 8:30 tee time and even the restaurant was closed. Two stars because it's not the employees fault, it's the county bureaucrats who obviously don't care. Gopher holes, weeds and high grass all over the place. I'd be embarrassed to take any of my Country Club member friends to that GOAT TRACK Get it fixed. I wish I would have taken some pictures of that mess. read more
