A few months ago, we welcomed a new member to our family. His name is Bailey, a labrador mix. In our home, we are all used to having small dogs. The main princess of the house is Snowball (a Toy Poodle); Chewie (a Yorkie) is our mini-guard dog. So, when Bailey joined the brood, we were not prepared for the "growing pains" of taking care of a big dog.
Today, a few of our neighbors have already filed complaints on how noisy and load Bailey barks. They even threatened us with a notice to get rid of Bailey. :( Well, it's not that we ignore him; we know he barks. But, our neighbors are not dog people and prefer that we all live in a quiet environment. This was a wake up call though to finally get him trained. So, I searched online and found Gomez Dog School. I sent them an emergency text and their trainer, Carlo, said he would be at our house by 11AM. Right on the dot, he was there and he checked on Bailey.
Carlo spent about an hour with Bailey and, in that time, he was already giving me the low down on what were my BIG mistakes in dealing with him. Basically, I was a bad fur-parent. :( I spoiled him too much that barking became his way to get what he wanted (WHOOPS!). Long story short, he offered 2 solutions: a) that he would come over every other day to train Bailey (Php450, 9.64USD per hour) or b) Bailey will go to their dog school for 40 days, he will live there in that time and we can only visit once or twice just so that he will be focused with the training (Php14,000, 299.78USD for all 40 days). I know P14K is a bit pricey but, I know I would be paying more in other Dog Training Schools. For the 40 day training, he said that we could pay half today then the next half after 20 days. They would also take care of all his shots, food, cleaning. From the way I saw how he handled Bailey, Carlo really cares for dogs. If I would have to be separated from my dog for 40 days, I know that he will be in good hands. :)
So, today, due to the incessant complaints of the neightbors, my parents and I decided that Bailey will be going to Dog School. Apart from the home visit, part of their service is that their school can pick up your dog and bring him to their school. They will pick him up later at around 430PM. I appreciate that they very hands on with their pet training services. Also, seeing how the trainer treats and talks to our pet was very important to me. :)
To anyone who is looking to have their dogs trained, I recommend that you contact Gomez Dog School. Let's all hope that Bailey will do well! :D read more
