You can tell that they take pride in their work and were careful with all of the surroundings, and cleaned up everything perfectly when they left. She revisited our house with samples again, allowing us to select the final shades that we felt would best meet our requirements and preference. On March 9, I was then told the order would ship on March 27 -- which directly contradicts the earlier explanation that production could not begin until late March. When March 27 passed, there was no update. After I followed up again, I was told that only the Dining Room drapery had shipped, while the Living Room drapery was backordered again. There was no proactive communication, no explanation of what changed, and no response to my follow-up. Even now, the only update I receive is that they are "checking with production," which means there is still no clear understanding of the order status. Key issues: - Contradictory and unreliable information about timelines - No proactive communication -- I had to chase every update - Very slow responses (often several days) - Partial shipment without explanation, with ongoing delays - Overall lack of ownership and accountability For a premium-priced custom product, this level of service is unacceptable. At this point, I have lost confidence in both their process and their customer support. I would not purchase from them again and would not recommend them to others. If you value clear communication and reliable timelines, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. We have heard countless excuses for the long delays remaking shades after multiple failed installations (3, going on 4). The Shade Store just cannot seem to get it right. They keep having to remake the shades due to simple and avoidable issues in their own process. We ordered two blackout panels and two sheer panels for one big window, nothing crazy. They have had issues with measurement, mismatching fabric, missing hardware, mismatching carrier types, tracks improperly installed and pulling away from the ceiling, you name it. Each time shades are delivered and installed we essentially start over with a new mess. It is chaos. I finally asked for my money back after the cycle just repeated for the fourth time. The company representative told me they would refuse to provide a refund. Now we will evaluate options for legal action. Avoid this business and save yourself the headache.

I found Gwenn on an internet search. I interviewed a few other designers but hired Gwen after her receiving her detailed follow-up email from the initial visit. In that email she clearly articulated a vision for how my house should be furnished and accessorized. I was sold: "Based on what I gathered from you and your home, I imagine the design of your space would fall somewhere in the realm of warm contemporary, comfy, understated but a touch swanky, masculine, PNW natural / rustic. Neutral and subdued colors, varied natural textures, layered and homey, soulful. Furnished with timeless and quality elements that could work in future homes too." Gwen has executed on the vision perfectly all the while taking my feedback and taste into consideration. Gwen selected furniture, carpets, lighting, art, plants, and décor for my office, living room, bonus room, master bedroom, kitchen, outdoor patio, and hallways. She helped me accessorize my kitchen with all new cookware, knives, silverware, gadgets, etc. Saying that Gwen selected all of these items does not do justice to her work. The pieces selected were of the highest quality. Quality observable to the eye and to the touch. Most the pieces selected are themselves a work of art that give me joy just to look at daily. Some of the pieces were custom made to be the perfect fit for the space. Gwen found the craftspeople and helped design these custom pieces. Gwen was a consummate professional throughout the entire process. She did all the coordination of ordering and deliveries. Gwen found electricians to install the lighting and spent all day here making sure that a custom light fixture was installed. Her punctuality is something that I must comment on because when she told me that she would be at my house at a certain time I could set my watch to her arrival. I sincerely appreciated this punctuality because I believe it speaks volumes to how she cares about her clients and her craft. All of this work and sourcing was during COVID shutdowns when lead times on furniture exploded which made the project more difficult. All of the accounting and billing was online and easily accessible. In summary, Gwen designed the spaces in my home in a way that bring a smile to my face ever day. She did all of the work and minimized the amount of effort needed by me. I couldn't be happier with the result.
