The pace was perfect and I never felt as though we were moving too fast. There were only 4 people in my Sunday afternoon class which allowed plenty of opportunities for him to walk around and help us individually. We also had opportunities to take little snack/bathroom breaks. The building is shared with the library and since that's closed on Sundays, there was usually ample parking. Sometimes there would be a children's performance in the theater near our studio but it was never really disruptive. Although sometimes, there would be less parking spots near the studio entrance on those days. I genuinely enjoyed taking this class at Spruill! I hope to take more classes here in the future and I even told my friends about it. The classes are reasonably priced for the quality of instruction that they offer, and there may be a few need-based scholarships available on their website. I believe there is a donation-based supply closet available to students who are currently enrolled in art classes, but the closet itself is only open during the week. Overall, I think Spruill is a great place hone any craft and I would love to take more classes in the future.

We reserved a space as a courtesy but I appreciate the drop in option. There are no pressure sale tactics to rope you into buying classes or dates with penalties. It promotes the love of art period. Parents can deop their kid off for a class and everyone is happily discovering their artsy self. The offer language classes and piano lessons as well. The theme is giving and avenue to express creativity with no pressures. I was so pleased to learn they have camps for when schools out as well as host parties. Most of the teachers have been there a while with professional experience and a love of art with patience which promotes creativity at reasonable prices. I'm grateful for their flexibility because when the rain caused a delay it was really good of them to offer my daughter a shared private lesson where she was able to connect with another young person who shared her interests in art. That was really amazing to witness two young people on the same artistic wavelength getting lost in their lesson. In addition, there's a Fall Break Art Camp for grades 2-5, where children will experiment with a range of media including watercolor, acrylics, and collage. As I walked through the space, I was able to watch artists at work and enjoy the current gallery exhibits on display. The atmosphere was inspiring and welcoming. Adult fall classes--running October 6th through December 13th--are also available, covering both visual and ceramic arts. Each class is taught by individual instructors, making it approachable for students of all levels. Best of all, online registration makes it simple to sign up. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that such a wonderful resource has been right in my neighborhood all along. It was a great experience, and I've already registered for pottery classes--something I'm really excited about! The pottery and paint selection is fine for the most part, but they don't have any of the sponge…read morestamps that they used to have when I went there several years ago. The stencils and stamps the did have left were very old and didn't work. Also, the employees just seem really absent minded and not knowledgeable or interested. And whatever you do don't forget to take a picture of your art work before you go. If you don't, they will have no way to figure out if it's finished. They won't call to tell you it is finished. And if you don't go get it within 30 days it will be destroyed. Their system is very archaic and dysfunctional. They don't tell you that you have to take a picture, you're somehow just supposed to know this. Also, expect to spend at least $75-$100, which I think is very over priced. Just go somewhere else instead.

There are great inspiration pieces all around the shop and they usually have seasonal items out. You paint your item, they fire it for you, and you come back in a few days to pick it up. I believe you can also use their clay and make your own items as well! For the pre-made ceramics you paint, you pay one cost for the items and that includes the paint and firing. If you don't finish a piece in one sitting, you can bubble wrap it, take it home, and bring it back to finish another day! Feel free to bring your own food and drink!
