Two weeks later we're told we have a new instructor just for the second day another family emergency occurs with her which isn't her fault. However the following day everyone is waiting outside the locked doors 15 minutes after class was supposed to start because no one's there! No lights, doors locked, no one was answering our calls, no emails or a heads up, nothing! Our class of 25 dropped to 8 that following week because the lack of unprofessionalism and communication was absurd. The one saving grace out of this school was our instructor Miss Terri. She went above and beyond making sure we weren't behind on our course due to the inconveniences that occurred that disrupted our learning days. She was patient, understanding, and lit up the classroom with her lively energy. If it wasn't for her I think the course would've been postponed again for god knows how long until they found another teacher on short notice, she saved my time and made sticking through the struggles worth it. I couldn't be more grateful but besides that I would not recommend. The lack of communication was terrible from the people in charge and even though Google reviews has a high rating (god knows how) I recommend going somewhere else for these kind of certifications. Yes it might cost a bit more but trust no low price is worth the headache and uncertainty.

I did the 8 week phlebotomy course and was certified by the end of it. I definitely had more knowledge coming into the program than some of the other students but Ms. Donna makes sure everyone knows what they need to know. We drew blood on the first day that we were there! We go one at a time so Ms. Donna can watch over everyone and guide them through the steps. We did it pretty much every class, and by the end, everyone was fairly confident taking blood by themselves. Ms. Donna was the only person running the whole school when I got there. She expanded the inside to another suite so there's more room to practice and study. She is extremely talented at teaching. She'll put you on the spot about material that you learned in previous lessons, so make sure you keep up. I think this course was worth every dollar that I spent with how much hands on experience you get.

The first workshop I attended was an intro to Adobe Illustrator. We had people of many different professional backgrounds in attendance. Although the class was beginner, they also answered the questions of those with a little more experience. When the presenter did not know the answer, the group may have chimed in to help. (Did I ever mention I love Atlanta) The most recent workshop I attended was the Transferable Skills workshop led by Nita Penn. This session was amazing! It was interactive, relevant, high energy, and applicable to our everyday lives. Nita was well prepared, fun, energetic, and inspiring. A lot of times we take workshops that work on our hard skills and it was nice that General Assembly scheduled something to help us learn about soft skills and how they can be transferable and applicable in various situations. I hope to see Nita continue to lead workshops at this location. I can guarantee that as she starts doing more workshops on various topics I will for sure be there with my friends! The establishment is a little on the smaller side but that leads to you forming more connections and getting to know more of your future workmates. The instructors are excellent and Mrs Thomas makes sure that everyone feels welcome and at home. There were only 4 people in my Sunday afternoon class which allowed plenty of opportunities for him to walk around and help us individually. We also had opportunities to take little snack/bathroom breaks. The building is shared with the library and since that's closed on Sundays, there was usually ample parking. Sometimes there would be a children's performance in the theater near our studio but it was never really disruptive. Although sometimes, there would be less parking spots near the studio entrance on those days. I genuinely enjoyed taking this class at Spruill! I hope to take more classes here in the future and I even told my friends about it. The classes are reasonably priced for the quality of instruction that they offer, and there may be a few need-based scholarships available on their website. I believe there is a donation-based supply closet available to students who are currently enrolled in art classes, but the closet itself is only open during the week. Overall, I think Spruill is a great place hone any craft and I would love to take more classes in the future.
