It's almost like being in a classroom with 35 other people. Everyone has their own paint brushes, paint, easels, apron etc. which is all provided. The teacher/professional, aka artist of the night, sets up in the front of the room with a microphone and goes step by step on what colors to mix and what to paint on your canvas. Each session has its own unique picture to paint depending on the night you go. It is BYOB here and soooo much fun! You can bring snacks and wine and be merry! Such a great time for girls AND guys! I saw at least 5 guys at this particular session and they really enjoyed it! Ladies don't be shy to bring your guys here or just have a Girls Night! I'm sure everyone would have a blast!

Some can't paint the painting to look like the 'model' painting and aren't helpful with technique. It's a crap shoot based on who you get. They are all nice. I was there 2 days ago, and the experience was fun with my group. Today I am so disappointed. My niece and I were so excited to do the Eiffel Tower painting because we've just been to Paris together, and the silhouettes in the painting look like us. We've been telling everyone we were doing it and have been planning for 3 weeks. At 2:00 today they let me know not enough people signed up and they canceled the class. We are so bummed. Maybe they wouldn't have made a lot of money tonight, but they lost all of our future business. I'm sadly looking for new places to paint.

MSSA is owned and operated by Laurie Morgan. When I first stopped by to talk to her, she was very open to what we wanted to do and gave suggestions on what art projects she could do with the kids. I liked her "can do" upbeat attitude from the start. Laurie's birthday parties can go up to 15 children and we ended up with seven (including my son). She charges a mere $10 per child (you pay at least for an eight child minimum). You provide all the food and paper products. She leads the kids through the project/games/etc and does all the cleanup. Considering how much we paid for a party last year at a "bouncy house" place, this was an absolute steal. Our son's theme was Angry Birds. Laurie had the boys paint little birdhouses first, then make little puffball Angry Birds to go in them. I have to give her credit, she was incredibly patient with seven very energetic little boys. After the project/snacks/cake, she rounded them up for balloon games in the hall to work off the sugar high. They loved it, of course. Laurie will be holding summer art camps over the summer and I've already signed my son up for a week. He loved his Angry Birds party and can't wait to go back for camp. She also has art classes for adults and older kids throughout the week, and some Mommy and Me classes for the little ones.

Here are my thoughts: Location - The location is spacious and cute instead, reminds me of an art gallery. Parking - this is where it gets confusing, its in a small space but parking was confusing for me. I recommend coming earlier to find parking. Once I purchased the deal I followed the instructions and emailed them using the link provided in order to book the class using the Groupon. I got no response on that Saturday the 18th so I emailed several times leading up to the day we wanted to take the class. No response. I called 3 times (once on Tuesday 21, Wednesday the 22 and then again on Thursday) I finally spoke with a rather rude individual finally on Thursday that told me he never got my emails, and never had time to listen to the messages. I told him I wanted to book the class using a Groupon he then proceeded to tell me all his classes were booked full. At that time I informed him I was on his website looking at his class times and it was showing 3 openings available. He put me on hold and when he came back asked me to refresh the page at which time he had closed EVERYTHING. Would have love to have taken the class but not with all the scamming. Don't recommend you buying the deal from Groupon either. The whole ordeal was a Hugh disappointment

He was also very patient as I had changes and questions along the way. We were able to bring food and of course our wine. I think our instructors names was Kate and Hannah. It's BYOB (Wine & Beer) plus snacks so we stopped at Whole Foods (right down the block) to pick up items so we could enjoy ourselves. Make sure you bring any cups, plates, napkins, etc that you will need for your bev & food because they don't have any of that for you. The experience: It's a good offering for the price, you get to have the whole experience which is fun & creative and you get to leave with something. You pick your container from their options when you first walk in (we picked one large container and then 3 small containers) and then you get either 3 small succulents or 1 large and 1 small succulents (which are more than enough to fit in your containers) they had a variety of colored moss, color rocks, and some cute little decor items (or bring your own). Overall, it's a great price, great experience and you can customize it as much or little as you like. We can't wait to go back!

Atlanta Hot Glass is a very, very cool place (no pun intended). It is the first glass blowing…read morecollective I've ever been to and it happens to be in East Decatur not that far from where I live. I first learned about Atlanta Hot Glass through the Emory Alumni Association, as strange as that may sound. I'm an alum of Emory (in case the comment above didn't make it obvious) and when I received the latest newsletter about upcoming events and goings on, an event about an interactive glass blowing night caught my attention. Fast forward two weeks and my boyfriend and I showed up at Atlanta Hot Glass, owned by Emory alum Susan Chin, and were introduced to the fascinating world of glass blowing. Let me tell you, it's harder than it looks, but lucky for all of us (there were about 20 people there in all), the instructors were fantastic. In addition to helping us make our own blown glass ornaments, they showed us some awesome examples of what you can make once you've gotten more skilled at it. We learned how hot the glass has to be to be malleable (it's kept in a 2050 degree furnace), how hot the 'glory holes' are that melt the glass shards and color the glass (2200 degrees), how glass sculptures are molded and shaped and transferred to the oven to cool down, etc. It was incredible and eye-opening and really fun. I thoroughly enjoyed myself since everyone was so friendly and willing to answer questions and assist us. Susan's cousin was great because he explained to us what was happening as the instructors were demonstrating making different pieces and when I was making my own blown glass ornament, my instructor (whose name escapes me), talked me through each step and why we did it. Atlanta Hot Glass also offers classes, studio time and opens itself up to the public like it did for Emory that night, which is great. Even if you're not sure that's your thing, you can take a course or a couple individual classes to figure out if it might be. A big kudos to the Emory Alumni Association for organizing this event and to Susan for kindly opening her studio to us. It was a fantastic and unique way to spend a Thursday.

After visiting the website, I called and spoke with Susan. She was extremely helpful and gave me lots of information. I chose the "Hands on Experience" for nine people. The process for payment and scheduling was very smooth and professional. Upon arriving, our team was greeted by the instructors, Lee and Jeremy. We were given safety tips and general information about glass blowing. Then we jumped right in. We had a blast! We each created a glass piece (paperweights and ornaments) and had a true "hands-on experience". I highly suggest this activity to large groups and small! For large groups I suggest keeping the pieces simple to allow time for your entire group to have a chance.
