Very cool and expansive bookstore that's a few tweaks away from being amazing. There's no music so it feels more like an extremely quiet library than a bookstore, which makes for a less fun experience than it could be. They have quite a large and unique selection though. Music + outdoor seating + some food/drinks would make this place a destination! read more

I have been wanting to visit this shop for a year and finally had a chance. It's impossible to capture the scale of this book maze in photos--you just have to go experience it yourself. Good Books in the Woods in a used bookstore in a house in The Woodlands. Watch your step as you explore because several time I stepped off a small step too hard because I was looking around in awe and not watching where I was walking. When I say this is a book maze I'm not joking--but you should definitely go get lost in it. Cheers to the proprietor who was so patient with us every time we needed help finding something. Great book store that deals in used books. When I heard it was in a house I thought they would have a small selection. I was wrong. It is literally a maze of books. Every time I thought I had seen it all I would find a new section. Even though it is a maze of more that 50,000 books it is well sorted and easy to find what you want. The staff was great. Friendly and very knowledgeable on all the books. Will definately go again. read more

The store needs a new location for its business or some major remodeling. It's not a comfortable place to browse with standing room only. It has gotten worse over the last few years. The front door is all jacked up as you enter the building. I won't be back. read more

Such an amazing bookshop. I was shocked at how much they had and how helpful the staff was- especially Bruce (the dog)- such a sweet dog.

This is one of the best used bookstores that I have been to ever. Every time I turned a corner there was another room of books. I could have stayed there all day and just browsed. They also have the sweetest dog named Bruce. Seriously you need to visit just for the experience and to give Bruce some love. The staff was helpful and very knowledgeable. This place is overwhelming in the best way. It's a maze of books that never ends, and has a second floor. Service is impeccable, and the gentleman who runs this place is a delight to talk to. First time visiting today with my two little girls. The first thing they'd like for me to mention is how cool it is to have a shop doggie around. Very well behaved, and a great welcoming committee:) We bought several Children's books and though I thought they were a little pricey for being used, they are in great condition. We got three books and the total came to $20. I would have liked to look around for myself, but I'll be back on another day when I'm alone and have time to peruse. The staff was friendly and helpful and the shop was clean. We didn't have to wait to check out, there were only a few people shopping at the time we were there. My oldest daughter requests graphic novels, she couldn't find any so we had to go to Barnes & Noble, that is our only complaint. read more

Took my girls to look for used books on some of the high school required when I was their age. Some are removed from requirements and as homeschooled kids, we're adding them as many discussions wrap around themes that are very relevant today. The owner is very helpful and accommodating. I was going to be in the general Spring area, and this was not too far of a detour. I am always on the look out for a good used book store. One that has an amazing first editions selection as well. This looks, literally like someones house, and as you walk in you are given a map to navigate the wonderful maze of books. I had browsed their website, and found an incredibly priced first edition of William Faulkner's "The Reivers." For about $10. This has been something on my want list forever, but every time I came across it, the price, condition, or both were ridiculous. I also found a few others, including a fantastic illustrated edition of Tom Jones. The website is really up to date, and you can email them with any questions. They got back to me within a few hours to inform me the The Reivers was still available on the shelf. If you can't make the visit, you can order anything from the site and it will ship in 1-2 days. I love getting lost in and visiting these kinds of stores, so it was a good detour. Though, I won't always be able to make the hike up here. I will definitely be taking advantage of the online ordering. An excellent book store. read more

I went here this past Saturday, on the recommendation of my grandma. She told me it's her favorite bookstore in the world, and it's less than 2 miles from my work. I LOVE bookstores, so of course I couldn't resist checking it out! Well, it is quite a bookstore! It's a house renovated into a labyrinth of books! I nearly got lost in the former garage! I was the only customer that afternoon, and I wandered around aimlessly for a minute before I found the owner. At first, I heard a low growl, and then a cute dog jumped off the couch to inspect me. After Benji sniffed to make sure I wasn't a horrible person, she was instantly friendly. Once I pet her, she kept jumping up on me for me to pet her some more. I didn't mind...I love dogs. The owner asked me if I was looking for any books in particular, and I told him I especially love memoirs and thrillers. He showed me where these were, and I started hunting. There's several storage cabinets outside with TONS of fiction paperbacks...it doesn't surprise me that he ran out of room in the store! Then I came back in to look at the memoirs. More than my local Half-Price Books carries, but the selection contains more older memoirs and biographies. I was looking for any that are already on my to-read list that I didn't already own, and I didn't find any. If I had time to be more adventurous, I would have gone through them more. I tend to lean toward the really messed-up memoirs, and these seemed tame in comparison. I looked through the YA section, but it's pretty limited (compared to HPB). Several from the Twilight series, and a few Harry Potter. But again, nothing that isn't already on my to-read list. I wandered around more, browsing through the VAST selection of history books. I had read on their website before going that they specialize in history books...and they weren't kidding!! I'm not a history buff by any means, so I wasn't interested in that. However, the collections of signed first-editions and rare books are impressive! I made my way back toward the front of the store, and I finally found the fiction section. And what a selection!! I scanned all the shelves and picked out several. I would love to spend a couple hours in there with my Goodreads app and look through more. As if I don't have a ridiculous amount of books "to-read" already! Spent about an hour in there, and spent $30 on 7 books. The fiction books were priced similar to HPB (none of the ones I picked were mass-market paperbacks, so they would cost more). And the romance/thriller section was $1 per book, which was awesome. I'd DEFINITELY recommend this bookstore to any bookworm! And especially those who are history buffs! read more

It is rare when you find a jewel in a retail store in The Woodlands. But in this store...the Unicorn exists!!!! Found an autographed copy, hardback book, I was looking for, in fine condition & fair price. Proprietor was very accommodating to open early to ensure sale.
