I needed a few trees pruned back, had about 4 limbs fall down into my back yard in the past 2 months (this drought is for real) I found Good Guys Tree Service via Craigslist and decided to go with them based off of a few reviews and what their website stated. I was looking for a family owned/run business that was insured. I'm glad I went with this company, called and spoke with Bob and he drove by my place the next day (on his way to another job) so that he could schedule me in ASAP should I decide to go with them. They arrived exactly when they said they would and did an excellent job on my Pecan tree and Hackberry tree. They completed the job in a timely manner and were very thorough in cleaning up after the trimming (raking, blowing etc.) The quoted price Bob gave me stayed the same, even though there was some miscommunication on my part about which hackberry needed to be taken care of (there was a huge difference in size of tree and what needed to be trimmed) I highly recommend this company and will not hesitate to call them again when needed for the other trees on my property. read more

Maybe because this job isn't as big as our first and not worth their time, or lack of organization, but I can't get anyone to talk with me about a job that is easily $500+. I am super disappointed that we originally chose a business that does not value repeat customers. We have used Good Guys twice now for tree trimming - three years ago and again this year. They do excellent work and are very responsive. The "climbers" are amazing to watch up in the trees. We have a lot of large live oak trees and an iconic heritage live oak that I wouldn't trust to just anyone to touch. Good Guys do great work. I called in to get a bid on removing 7 trees, pruning 4 trees, removing shrubs and cutting back overgrowth on an entire side of our fence. We were able to meet the next day when it was convenient for me. Matt quickly assessed our needs and we had a quote that day which was much cheaper than another popular tree service company we've used in the past. A few days later their large crew showed up on time and within a couple of hours had completed all the work which included spraying the cuts on our oaks to prevent oak wilt. Everything looked great. Thanks Gavin, Romero, James, Josh, Trino and Pablo. There was only one problem which was when they pulled out the shrubs an irrigation pipe broke. I called and they said they would have someone fix it right away but they never did. It was an easy enough fix that I didn't bother following up to remind them to get it fixed. I will probably give them another chance and hire them again because they did a great job at tree and shrub service, were so much cheaper than other servicers and I anticipate the pipe was a rare occurrence and I probably just needed to remind them to get it fixed. read more

Hired these guys to come out after that bad storm we had earlier this year as I had a lot of down limbs, those that had broken off and were still in the trees, and just a mangled mess in the tree canopy. They were punctual in their quote, considering some companies didn't call me back, even one company that I had used previously just a few months before. The price was pretty reasonable. Scheduling was a little frustrating. A 5 day estimate nearly turned into two weeks, requiring me to follow-up twice with the manager/owner. Once they showed up, the work was good. The foreman was running a little late, so the crew wanted to go ahead and get started. I walked around the yard and showed the main cutter and is english translating nephew the expected work. They got started and the foreman finally showed. Due to the language barrier early on, I had to go back out and have them correct one area. They did it with a smile on their face. Clean up was good, although my pool was left a mess. Bottom line is I haven't found a perfect tree service company in Austin over the years, but these guys are "Good". I'll call them again when it's time for a big tree service. read more

Terrible service, terrible follow-up. I had a sales rep come to the house to give me an estimate, no problem. After that, it all went down hill. After several emails and phone calls to the company to try and find out when they were coming, I finally received a call telling me they were coming the next day! I still needed to buy 10 bags of top soil before the job could be done, and wanted to be at my house when these people showed. I talked to the owner who gave me silly excuses for bad customer service, and I had to cancel the job. Don't use these "good guys"!!! read more

They did a great job at a fair price and cleaned up nicely afterwards--they even took the pile of branches I'd been meaning to put out for brush collection, which they didn't have to do but was very much appreciated. I also like that their arborist identified the problem with a sick-looking tree in my backyard. I'd had two other companies come out to quote on the job; the first company rep suggested an expensive lawn aeration procedure to fix the tree and the second advised to cut it down completely without even crossing the yard to examine it. So I was happy to find out what the problem actually was and get a solution for it. Will hire Good Guys again for sure. read more

I had 4 different tree services come out for a free estimate. I spoke to each representative and explained/showed each one of them that I wanted to trim/raise the canopy on 4 trees (2 oak/2 ash), clean up the shared fence line with neighbor, cut down/remove a tree (cedar elm), and remove all debris. Keep in mind that I had already raised the canopies on the 4 trees as high as I could when using a chainsaw/standing on a ladder and I had already cut off 1/2 of the tree (the part on my side of the fence) that I wanted completely removed. Good Guys Tree Service put it all in writing and wanted $1,500 - $300 (20%) discount and was going to do it for $1,299. That seemed excessively high to me! I am going with a different tree service for only $650 plus tax, everything is in writing, and it will be completed 3 days after the initial day of my estimate. read more

We have used Good Guys in the past, but will no more. Good Guys doesn't follow city law regarding door flyers on houses that have "No Trespassing/No Soliciting/No Flyers" signs posted. We have called them many times over the past 2 years complaining about them advertising on our property. They simply ignored us. There are many other companies in town that have better prices, good service, and know how to follow city advertising laws. We will choose a company that follows the rules and whose owners will correct mistakes. read more

My old tree service decided to stop returning calls for smaller jobs, and that turned out for the best because then I found Good Guys, who I've now been using for a few years to keep all my large trees trimmed. And they are good, very good, for a reasonable price. Casey is friendly and thorough, and the crew was careful around my landscape and did a great job very quickly. They clean up so well that you don't even know they've been there. We had a tree removed and the stump ground down and you can't tell the tree had ever been there. I cannot more highly recommend this company. I have a large ash tree in my backyard that had a lot of "dead wood" on it, and I was extremely nervous that I would have to cut it down. I was able to call Good Guys Tree Service and have someone meet me for an estimate in an extremely timely manner. He took the time to explain exactly how much needed to be cut and why. When the team came to do the actual work, they were timely and extremely courteous. The tree looks amazing and my yard looks fantastic. We have a large yard with large trees, as well as almost 50 years worth of random things growing that previous owners haven't ever taken care of. Bob and his team did a great job with the routine trimming on the larger trees, and he removed several other invasive trees and bushes that we wanted to get rid of. These guys did a good job taking down a dying Chinese tallow between my house and my neighbor. Amazing how fast they work and no damage to my roof or my neighbors. Only problem was they didn't cover AC unit (which was just below the tree) and left it full of sawdust. I has to remove AC cover and blow out about 3 inches of dust. But the price was good (after negotiating) and I will use them next time. read more

I was impressed with their efficient work flow and how carefully they cleaned up all the branches, leaves and bark-- even blew off and cleaned my driveway which had plenty of leaves etc when they arrived. I am very disgusted with this company. They will not even hold themselves accountable for their unacceptable incompetence. I would give a negative rating to this company if I could. They improperly planted a tree in my back yard in October 2018. It was very expensive and I expected it to be well done but it was not! The tree is now root-bound with circular roots and shakes greatly in even a mild wind. I reported this and after several weeks, and numerous phone calls and emails with photos and video, I finally got their answer. I was told that they no longer plant trees and are unable (unwilling?) to do anything about their improper planting or even to correct the damage to this tree. I originally called Good Guys Tree Service because they claimed to be experienced in tree care. Apparently now they only trim trees. Because of my past experience with this company's performance and customer service, I would not trust them to trim trees either. It is one thing to make a mistake and another to correct it. read more

I don't typically leave reviews on yelp unless it's really bad service or really good service. I set up for a quote at 3pm (when I would be home) I recieve a phone call while I was at work and missed it. So I call back and the guy tells me he had already come by and had seen the branch I needed removed (it's in my back yard) so that was strange. I waited 3 days for a quote still no call so I call and I'm told this branch that he apparently saw would cost 160 + TX. There's no way in h$&& this branch should cost that much to take down. The whole experience was weird and unprofessional. We'll just do this one ourselves we just have very busy schedules and wanted it cleared but this is total price gouging. I'm not even sure he saw the thing FULLY without coming into my yard. Very disappointed. read more

We had a previous tree service that trimmed our trees several times for us over the years but we were not totally happy with the over-trimming they would do each time leaving us with no shade for two years as the trees had to grow back and fill in so we decided to find another company. Good Guys Tree Service came out, listened to what we wanted which was to raise the canopy of our native live oaks and trim back where they felt was necessary without over-trimming. The estimate was in line with what we were comfortable with, they arrived on time, work was professional and clean up was great. We were very happy with the work performed and impressed that a representative came back a day or so later to inspect the service provided and asked if everything was done to our satisfaction. We've already recommended them to our neighbor and another resident in the Cedar Park area. We will certainly use their services again! read more

Our two trees out front looked absolutely horrible. Just awful. Moss balls, dead branches, overgrowth, and they were scraping against the house. Another tree service came by and gave me an estimate which seemed reasonable. Still, I wanted to do a little research and eventually came across Good Guys. The man I talked to on the phone was super friendly and came out to the house the next day or so to do the estimate. He quoted a price that was a little better than their competitor, but I really felt like he cared about what he did. The other company was a little impersonal. He gave me the quote and said it would be a few days before they could schedule the service (this was around Thanksgiving). After T-day I got excited about putting up the Christmas lights so when they called to schedule I asked them to put it off until after the first of the year. 2014 rolled around and we finally set up the appointment for service. The crew showed up early and started cutting away. By the end of the day my trees were not a hideous disaster and actually looked like someone carefully designed the trees in a lab to look just right. I'd been looking at these overgrown beasts for so long it was a shock to see them trimmed up. The best part is when the roofers came the next day to work they remarked on how great the trees looked. Our Realtor's first comment when she got out of her car was our "fabulous trees". I just wish I didn't wait until I wanted to sell my house to get this done. I've got a bare spot in my yard that was caused by the overgrown tree blocking the light to that spot. read more

One of my trees was heavily damaged in the recent storms, and the remainder of the tree was in danger of falling on the house. Good Guys came out quickly, and completely removed the tree before any more damage could be done.
